Hahaha my contact info is old. Not in MN anymore. Came back to west coast.

This makes me feel better. You had me kicking myself thinking I'd missed that 60" Milwaukee Workbench you posted in the other thread for $175. I was pretty confident there weren't any of those on clearance in any Twin Cities metro store.

i have a 2403 M12 drill. up until now, it has been used lightly.

today, i tried to use it "all day". not continuously, but regularly (drilling holes to make driving the screws easier). it worked for two or three hours ok, but then started to not work. no "trigger" light when i squeezed it, not motion. slapping it with my hand had no effect, but unplugging the battery and putting it back in seemed to fix it. after lunch, it worked for awhile, but then it completely stopped working. swapping batteries with the driver did not help.

the tool body was not hot at any point in this process, so i dont think a thermal switch is the culprit, especially since it got worse after an hour of down time during lunch . . . .

it seems i have read about this before, but i can't remember the details. before i figure out how to get it repaired (assuming it continues to fail and just doest start back up without issue tomorrow), i was wondering if the collective had an idea of what was happening.

anyway, thanx for any light you can shine on this . . . . .

What was the charge on the batteries anyhow. Where you down to the last light? :headscrat

Sometimes the internal contacts don't connect just so with the battery the one on the outside of the battery and the tab up inside the handle :dunno:

Other than that tools have been known to have a bad VS switches contact now and then.

Good luck with that

Picked up a 2810-20 M18 Fuel mud mixer today. It seems it really is an addiction lol.

Starting to accumulate a respectable collection of Milwaukee tools. I need to post a pic. Few more on my short list... M18 trim gun, M18 caulking gun and an M18 jig saw. Pretty much done after that.

Yeah, who am I kidding, LOL...

Anyone used the Milwaukee 9.0 amp battery line trimmer ? I think it's model 272521 HD . How long does the battery last when using it ? My BIL is thinking about it. Wonder if the battery stuff Stihl makes is better choice .
Thanks
scarrylarry

I've never run the trimmer long rough to kill it in a fresh battery but I do have a 10k sq ft lot. The lot has plenty of landscaping and I can do the whole thing and then throw the battery in the blower to clean up. If you really want to get ambitious, I usually have enough juice to finish up trimming the hedges!

Dewalt announced 12.0 battert and Metabo 4.0 compact.... Both perhaps trying to steel NPS18 hype.... Now I am worried I will be disappointed in the news

Let's say a 16ah M18 battery was released...
will you be even using it, just short of for light applications

5 IMO seems to be a sweetspot ?
I'll grab the 9's if I'm running the grinder and such, but even then depending on use, I might swap to another 9 , mid use just to keep the batteries cool

Ya I find M18 4.0 and 5.0 XC the right balance of power/runtime to weight for most of the handheld tools except maybe the grinder and circ saw but I prefer the 5.0 still on the saw. Wet dry vac, lights and water pump are the big exceptions for me and maybe the fan or my music too :D as would be the stationary miter saw if I had one. :lol_hitti

Of course that OPE stuff needs all it can get too :p

I would eventually begin to wonder about heat buildup I guess. but for me the bigger that battery also the longer the recharge wait and depending on the work your doing waiting for long recharge may not be a good option

Yes! For my Vexilar K-Drill ice auger. See here: https://kdrillauger.com/. Also would be good for any type of Milwaukee M18 tool that you don't necessarily need to hold all the time. Lighting, vacuums, radios, etc.

In other news, just got a shipping number for my M12 inflator. Good timing, all the snow is almost melted here in MN.

My 9.0s overheat fairly fast on the grinder, and they seem to fault until they go on the charger, even if they are near full charge. The only too they seem to overheat on is the grinder. Now I generally use the 5.0 on the grinder and save the 9.0 for really anything else. Vacuum, weedeater, blower, drill, circular saw, etc, no problem. I have the same experience with the 3 9.0 batteries I own.

I jumped the gun on the Dewalt OPE years ago. Never looked forward when Milwaukee released theirs. My latest was the articualting pole which is quite nice.

With that said, even before the 9.0 came out, one time I had like 20 5.0 batteries I was using. I was constantly rotating them out. Some I had to wait to cool before I could dump it on the 6 bay rapid charger. I'm old school. Even though I have plenty of rapid chargers, if time is not required, I'm use the slower charger.

That's odd, I only use 9.0s in my grinder and there'll be days I'm too lazy to plug in my metabo and I'll spend 2 hours grinding non stop just swapping my 9.0s. Might be an issue with your grinder.

I can’t grind nonstop for 2 hours with my m18 grinder using a 9ah. More like 20 minutes. It seems about like a vacuum — high consumption.

I said non stop other than swapping out batteries. I get 45 min of heavy grinding or using a flap wheel. If I'm really aggressively grinding down something continuously then it's closer to 30 minutes. It is crazy to me that I can run an angle grinder for 45 min but can only run my shop vac for 20. They need to come out with a fuel vac. I'd gladly pay a good mark up if they could produce even 1.5-1.75x runtime

Yes, I can swap batteries and the grinder will keep going. I have never tried to keep the vac going after a 9ah is done. Does the motor overheat?

What model grinders are you guys using?
I have the paddle switch without the brake I'm pretty sure. If it does have the brake it doesn't work very fast. I love it though. I tried the brushed version first and it was unusable(for me at least). I got less than 10 minutes with a 4.0 or 5.0 and the power was very underwhelming. I returned it immediately, wasn't even gonna bother with the fuel but a couple days later I went for it and its def one of my top 3 tools now. Great power, and I only use 9.0s with it and i get amazing runtime

Sounds good, yeah I've been eyeing them but would probably get more use out of the mid torque impact, so will probably pick that up first. I've been really impressed with the circular saw and the reviews on the fuel grinder look pretty good so I've been thinking about getting one of those too

I've had the mid torque for a year, and I've held the high torque in the store, and I don't think I'd want to be holding up the high torque all day unless I actually needed the 1000+ ft/lbs regularly. The mid torque is a good size and weight for me and it's done everything I've needed. The only issue with the mid torque is that the rubber boots for it aren't as widely available, but they are out there.

I just got the M18 Fuel 7-1/4" circular saw today and that thing is a beast. I was nervous at how quiet it was, until I started cutting up some boards. The noise reduction on it is huge compared to my screaming Ryobi corded saw.

I have the same grinder at home too, I will take the 9.0 home and give it a try.

just picked up the 2780 grinder after dragging out 100ft of extension cord the other day really pissed me off.
Have heard mixed reviews, but I'm already "balls deep" in the M18 line so why not.

I was excited as my mid-torque impact was supposed to get delivered today. UPS says delivered but the truck never stopped at my house. Now I have to wait longer.
But, I've been impressed with the M18 trimmer. I was going to sell the blower as I don't have a huge need for it but after using it to blow off the driveway and sidewalk, I'm going to hang onto it!

Where did you order the inflator? Home Depot's site is backordered, and I talked to their tool guy at the store yesterday, he said they were on order and should have them within a couple weeks but didn't know if they'd be the $69 bare tool or the one with a 2.0 battery for $79.

So assume HD 12.0 is real,M18 XC 6.0 is gone but was never real anyway lol, we get XC 8.0 and we all wanted M18 compact 3.0 but will get a compact 4.0 instead..... Plus maybe a compact M12 4.0?!?! I am all in for that! While a M12 8.0 is a possibility, I am loaded on 6.0s and all good there.

Battery wise, that's exactly what I'm hoping to see. Along with some kind of higher voltage solution while still keeping it M18 (i.e. M18x2). I really don't want to be let down, although quite frankly I'm preparing to be hahah :lol_hitti

If you really picked that up for $90, congratz... now I have to find one around that price!

International tools has the inflator (tool only) for $69 but includes a knife as the promo and no tax depending on your state ONLY CAUTION with international is that they are slow to ship! But they eventually do ship View attachment 761346
