Mom and I would like to get Dad one for his birthday. Do I NEED to run the 9ah battery? I do not think so at this point. He has a 5ah XC

He trims bed edges and the curb line on a standard suburban 1/3 acre lot after mowing, nothing more. Maybe 15 mins actual run time.

I already got him 5 ah for his circular saw, and the full trimmer deal with 9ah battery puts us over budget. I already asked about the blower combo, he's not the least bit interested in that, and again with the budget concern- we'd really like to be at the bare tool only price.

Edited to say I'm sure he'd be running at the lower speed setting also.

I think for his short run time, he'll be OK. I've done my 15-20 min. trimming and the 9 amp battery still shows a full charge.

I run mine at full speed over my 1/4 acre corner lot on a 5.0 without issue. I even drop it into the blower for clean up after. I will use the 9.0 sometimes but it lasts more than a few rounds then.

Yes - new M18 "mid torque impact" - but in a 3/8 variety with the same specs as the current 1/2 model. HD listing posted above - but not yet available..

I'd have to assume the lowest M18 fuel 3/8 will get a revamp too since their m12 3/8 is now stronger than the M18 model. Lol

So beside my BT speakers I often have quite a bit of the Milwaukee cordless with me at market on the weekends. Of course I have the water pump with 9.0 and 5.0 for backup. I went right thru the 9.0 on one big watering jag Friday afternoon too.

Then I almost always have the 1/2 compact inpact wrench but now I'll carry the 1/2 Mid Torque instead. And with the tower light I could work all night if I wanted too.

But the inflator is so cool I had it with for a just in case seeing everybody has trailers and stuff at the market and you know how people maintain stuff sometime...but realized I need it too

For my garden cart people use to haul the flowers they buy back their vehicles. I pulled it out storage we have dozens at the greenhouse but didn't realize all the tires were low one had only 2 lbs when I checked. SO pumped them all up to 30psi good to go!

It's an excellent little inflator Bob nice features set the PSI and it auto shutoff.

Has duty cycle I think its 10min on 10 min off but it works quite fast for top offs. Battery life seems good too. The connector is a screw type some find it not there liking but I don't really have problem with on most tires, though it was little tight fit on that garden cart valve stem as the rims are so small.

I just got mine this week, First thing I used if for was filling some bike tires with Presta valves, They include three adapters on the back of the unit, one of them is the Presta adapters. It worked awesome for bike tires. As the Ronco commercial slogan says "Set it and forget it"

The second thing I used it for was topping off a tires on my car. It worked awesome for that. I used a 4.0 XC battery and didn't keep track of battery life but it only changed by one bar after filing 4 car tires(adding 20Psi) and 4 bike tires I believe. Battery wasn't full charged when I started.

Yep, exactly. It just won't run if the tire has more air in it than where you set it and will show the pressure in the tire on the readout.

He should be fine with just the 5ah battery. I have about 2 acres of yard that I trim. I use the 9.0ah in mine to weedwack including tall weeds, then put it on the blower to clear my 100ft driveway and sidewalks, and still have two bars left when I'm done. I can easily weedwack my property with a 5ah battery with little to spare.

In light of all the NEW stuff coming out - I ordered the original lil brushed m12 hackzall to celebrate..lol

And I finally got a chance to use the gen1 blower.. honest impressions - I wouldn't run out tomorrow and open a landscaping business with it, but it did really well.. well enough that it gathered enough leaves, dirt, and those stupid helicopter seed things to completely fill a 50 gallon contractor garbage bag just in the driveway.
Best part - is I was.out finishing in the dark and didn't even have to worry about annoying the neighbors. That alone is worth it. The 9.0 battery lasted longer than I expected too. I was expecting to see like 1 bar left at one point, and I had only USED 1 bar on the battery gauge. I wonder how much more power the 12.0 would give it..

The lockers have gotten great reviews on here.. probably one of the best bang for the buck in locking pliers.. I used the little needle nose to install new drum brake springs on my f350, and I had them cranked down so hard I was amazed the tips didn't break off.

When I got my combo a few weeks back, I was too excited to wait for the 9.0 to charge up the first time, so I put a 5.0 on each. I have 3 acres of which I trim about 1.5-2 and the 5.0ah was enough to trim everything and had a bar left. Put a 5.0ah on the blower and cleared my driveway and sidewalks off and only used 1 bar. Tons of power with both.

Neither tool lacks power with a 5.0 compared to the 9.0, just shorter runtime. I'd venture to say that most people would be fine with just a couple 5.0 batteries for the OPE, if anyone's looking at buying a bare tool. But it never hurts to have a 9.0 battery.

Quick question about that. I have the brushed hackzall and was thinking about upgrading to the fuel to take advantage of an Acme tools promo. My other option is to get the fuel sawzall which is $50 more. My corded Milwaukee sawzall is the 6509 10 amp version which has the same stroke length (3/4) and SPM (3000) as the brushed hackzall.

The fuel sawzall has a 1.125 stroke length and the fuel hackzall has a 7/8 stroke length.

Any suggestions on which way to go? I'm leaning towards getting the sawzall

I bought the combo with the string trimmer and hedge trimmer. Very happy with it. i have 1.5 acres and the 9.0 battery lasts just barely enough to do the whole yard, but thats only once every few weeks. Generally I do it in sections due to growth rate. The hedge trimmer is heavy but works great. I also picked up the gen 1 blower. It eats he battery but is powerful enough to clean up after mowing an trimming. I also use it to "sweep" the garage.

I plan on getting the chain saw so hopefully the 12.0 battery will help my run times

I sold of my yellow 18v stuff to go with Milwaukee, no regrets! I had the yellow sawzall, used it when I put an addition on and tore down a garage. The battery life was similar to what I get out of the hackzall

No need for a scientific experiment. More than a few guys have chimed in to the positive on a 5ah . I think I'll go to Homies after work tomorrow and pick up the bare tool.

thanks for the heads up they also have a $20 discount on any purchase over $100, so I got the blower package for $129.00, really didn't need the blower since I have a work 20v that has been great, but basically a free tool with the battery and charger purchase, which I need since I am just starting out in the Milwaukee stuff, and transitioning away from Dewalt and Makita.

Just wanted to say the blower and drill, impact and light kit arrived today. Used the blower after mowing mine and my neighbors house. The 5.0 battery wasn't charged yet so i used the 2.0 and had plenty of power and life left after using the blower. I can see how this will be addictive. Already trying to decide what I need next and if I should mix it up with M12 stuff. Local guy on craigslist has a M12 jigsaw with battery and charger new in the box for $75.00. All of them look good on my Milwaukee rolling toolbox I got last month.

I'm thinking about picking up the M12 polisher to do headlights and deal with some small scratches on my car, and for smaller detail sanding and such on both autobody and woodworking projects. Does anybody have one? I'm thinking of grabbing the XC kit on ACME with the $20 off deal, along with the extra 6.0ah.

I did read that it uses non-standard pads. How hard is it fabricate extra backing pads? I imagine I'll want more down the road. I did find where to buy more, for about $10 each, so if it's particularly time intensive to make my own I might just buy more.

Wasn't hard ... Oh man... I don't remember what size I used as stock for the pin to thread. I happened to have an M9 0.75 Tap and Die so... all I did was run the already threaded pad post... thru the Die to re-arrange the threads. I don't care if people scream at that but it worked... and all it's doing is holding the pad in the tool... so... simple is good. More important ... the tool female threads are fine.

Yea... You can buy the "pad kit"... it will get you an extra roloc pad and polishing pad. The problem for me was my polishing sponges and roloc stock was in a different size...

I posted a few posts about how I did it when I did it... can't find them. Pretty sure they are in this thread... will look.

I have 3 M12 batteries, (2 small, one 4 Ah) and these might be the perfect present to myself this Xmas...

I use Makita for 18V stuff.....
