2nd Milwaukee tool I haven't liked recently, coworker lost my favorite DeWalt tape and replaced it with a 25' Milwaukee. Standout is low in comparison and used the way I use em the Stanley/dewalts last 6-8 months before replacing, this one lasted three weeks before the tape was ripping at the 4 inch mark.

I did pick up their 100ft tape and will put it through the ringer as well. I don't use that as often for work mostly starting layout but the DeWalt one was ******* junk and locked up after 2 weeks of light use

Curious to specs on those power inverters. What they offer in RUN time vs AMP draw .

All I know from my small experiences using a DC power inverter to power my multi chargers is that they don't go very long off a basic vehicle battery before low voltage alert kicks in without the engine running

I can't stand the Milwaukee tapes, but I'm very picky about tapes

Ironically the magnetic tips are the worst thing for a metalworker - at least IME - 'cause it'll grab **** and drops and throw off your measurements when bumping it up to something like a bandsaw blade.

But I also don't like the size, feel or tick marks. I just find 'em difficult to read

I have two Milwaukee tapes the 25 ft 48-22-6625 and the 16ft magnetic with the markings on both side sides of the tape. Overall they are just about the same size, though some of the 25' tapes Milwaukee are larger

The 25 foot is nothing much to write home about for sure, the end tip is the same as a Stanley Power Lock and triple riveted, the clip holds tight but blade is extremely thin.

The mag has much bigger end catch, and the blade waaay stiffer, belt clip is wire loop not particular crazy over that style but it works ok.

I don't have the general issues the mag causes for others because I don't do much metal working but that big tip does catch pretty good and sometimes is difficult to get out of tight joint

The 25ft was $10 on promo for me and the mag was free so I don't complain too much, but there's ALOT of feedback over broken blades I have read on other talk boards.

In typical Milwaukee fashion they've just tried TOO HARD to reinvent the wheel. Some may like it and that's cool but it's easy to come across as gimmicky

Bought the Packout 3 box set when they were first released in Nov 2017. Use it constantly and have zero regrets. Ended up with a one of the 15" totes and it's equally awesome.

Only regret would be if paying full price. None of the pieces are cheap. Retail of all my packout pieces is about $3400, probably cost me 2/3 of that. Dont know when packout will be on sale again. Last year in the spring one retailer had 30% off all packout which was nice.

for what it is, it is great. it seems robust, and I dont foresee any issues for a long time. I have a bunch of it now, and dont regret any of it.

note that it is ten pounds empty. that is something to consider if you are going to be lugging it everywhere as opposed to buying a stack and wheeling it around.

Thanks for the input guys. Yes, the 48-22-8424 is the box I am looking at. The empty weight doesn't bother me as I'm going to be stashing it on the floor under my tool box at work for its entire life more than likely. Even if I end up having to pay full price ($69 it seems to be) I'll be OK with it as I'm only buying one and am not put-off by that amount for the convenience it will provide me with.

I think it's been posted but if you need to warranty a 9.0 you've gotta call 855-702-7152 and they'll start a claim and send you a special prepaid box. I just started a claim today.

Ok quoting myself from 1/28.....just received my 9.0 back today 2/26. So, it's not a quick process, figure about a month.

I'm not complaining, merely observing.

My old trusty 2650 felt like it was losing its balls recently. Actually the M18 tool that led me down the milwaukee path, several dozen tools amd thousands of dollars later.

Needing a quick fix, picked up the 2853. Dare I say on high it's almost too much, especially with a 5.0 battery. But awesome how compact it is!

Ordered a new brush plate for the 2650, hope i can kick some new life into the old girl.

I can certainly agree with that assessment. Once these drivers started peaking 2000 rpm 3000IPM or more it takes some finesse if not SOME attention not to JUST slam home a screw into some softwood. I watched a guy split the side casing on brand new prehung door install like that.

Still it's ALWAYS great have a new tool!

Yeah, skinning a subfloor with 5/8" ply, using 1-5/8" deckmate screws, it will bury the head through both layers of ply if youre not careful. Been running it on the mid setting and it's much easier to control.

With a 3/8" socket adapter it will run the s&*$ out of some big lag bolts though!

I've still got my trusty M12 2450 which was what got me into M12

It still works great and while the newer stuff certainly is a little better I often reach for the 2450 'cause I'm impressed it still works and works so well

I ran a search on the part# here on TGJ and nothing really come up. With all the banter on these forums even though its been out for about a year now, seems no one much talks about it, just most often the Milwaukee Mid Torque and the Stubby

first shot at using kaizen foam, this stuff cuts like butter!! super excited not to have these things clanging and banging in the case now! just gotta get another couple of cases for my other batteries and i’ll be good to go. considering getting the packout rollers and a few large boxes for my impacts and what not for four wheeling trips. would be much easier to grab a case with everything in it rather than looking through bags to make sure i have everything.

while I know that several packout cases with inserts and tools in them are not available anymore (like drivers and oscillating tools), have any of the actual packout cases themselves been discontinued yet?

other than black cases in Europe, have any been upgraded (assuming you view the color change as an upgrade)?

The tools with packout cases are promo items. So I expect we'll see them again in the future. Probably around the holidays.

I got 2'*4' sheets, five 20mm sheets and five 30mm sheets shipped for $170 from fastcap directly, cheaper than Amazon.

I bought 1 precut of each box from kaizen inserts for $17 each so I don't have to make my own templates.

Haven't figured out yet how many I can cut from 1 sheet

Can anyone that owns the usb rover light do me a favor and see if their charge status light blinks while charging? Went to use mine the first time in months( was fully charged up the last time I used it) and the red light came on. Used it for about 15 minutes then went to charge it. Blinked red for a while, then orange for a while then blinked green . After about two hours I tried it again, and the light was green and the unit functioned normally. Still blinks whenever I plug it it, which according to the manual shouldn't happen. Milwaukee said to mail it in and they would look at it, but if it's normal, whey mail it back

Just tried charging my other Milwaukee light and it does the same thing. Weird. That one didn’t die on its own without use though. Should be holding a charge longer than a month or two

Does it meet the E service requirements or do you have to pay to send it back?

likely the assumption is that the box can be lighter because it both won't have as much weight in it, because you will be putting things in it cut into the foam, like batteries and tools, and because of the foam things won't be rattling around.

The blinking green light means it is almost fully charged (around 80% I think?). Solid green should be fully charged. blinking read means it's almost dead. So what you are seeing is normal.

[EDIT] Yep, just checked the manual. Here is what it says:

The indicator light will display the charging status:
Red Flashing: Charging, 0-25% charged
Orange Flashing: Charging, 25-80% charged
Green Flashing: Charging, 80-99% charged
Green Solid: 99-100% Charged
Red/Green Flashing: Damaged or Faulty Battery

I messaged Milwaukee on facebook about this same thing.. every time i pick one of these things up after not using them for a few weeks/months - they are almost dead.. their response was they do not diagnose problems online, and to bring it to a service center.. all i asked was if there was a known issue.. apparently there is if we all have similar experiences..

Interesting to note about these earlier ones. So far I have to say my 2114 has been fully charged only once since I purchased it online at ACME (a 2018 T Day sale I believe) and has shown always green light each time I've checked it and run it for a short time.
