Notice most use 2" roloc on the new m12 angle grinder. Any reason against using a 3" roloc? I have an extra kit and hundreds of discs as that's the size I use with my pneumatic die grinders.

There's a chart that I saw somewhere where Milwaukee lists what's recommended & what's not recommended to be used with the angle grinder. IIRC it said 3" roloc sanding discs were fine but not 3" roloc scotchbrite discs. It also said not to use 3" cut off discs with it but seen a guy on YT use one.

Maybe too much load for the tool? I'd probably try myself if I had em. I used 2" scotchbrite discs with my air die grinders so I'll keep using them cause I have em.

You need the 2" for tighter spaces. And most people just leave the roloc holder in a die grinder all the time. Easier to just use the 2" then to waste the time swapping back and forth.

Tight spaces is a good point, for things like when doing a water pump. I also tend to mostly use the outer end of discs, with 3" much of it would probably go to waste for me.

This might be a dumb question, but do the M12 ratchets function like regular air ratchets in the sense that you can manually ratchet it to break a fastener free, and then use the motor to spin the fastener off?

It does, but I did read somewhere that Milwaukee says not to. There's a lot of fasteners into plastic going on there.

I just received the Milwaukee 2560-20 12v extended 3/8 ratchet. It is WAY beefier than the older 12v ratchet I have in quarter inch. I bought it to replace a Snapon FAR62B air ratchet mainly for front of motor accessory drive work. I haven't given it a good test yet, but based on appearance it should be much stronger than the Snapon. I coupled it with the CP 3.0 battery to keep it slim while still having a lot of power. BTW I 100% will use it as a manual ratchet to break loose, either that or the tool is worthless. Anyway, I'll report back after it gets a sufficient workout. BTW I also bought the rubber head protector, but it hasn't showed up yet.

They do have a plastic body, but at long as you don't grab by the battery you'll be OK. I've almost hung off my old non-fuel 3/8"on countless caliper bracket and suspension bolts.

I wish Milwaukee would list that on their website. Very odd that it took me finding it shown in a YT video to see it. I got mine this week and no where is it mentioned in the manual or materials in the box/on the box. Off topic but I do like the straight angle die grinder they show on the front of the manual.

On the chart I found in YT video, it shows 3" Roloc Abrasive Disc and 3" Non-Woven Pads as "green check mark" for this tool. The 3" flap wheel, wire wheel, cut off wheel and bristle discs are all a no, but you can use the 2" versions of them. The wire cup is only "green check mark" for 1".

So I will be trying 3" scotchbrite on mine today and see how it does.

I just received my M12 angle die grinder last evening and used it on a couple of materials and it worked well. No real RPM decrease and the speed selection is well thought out. Looks like it will be used quite often.

I think they just got tired of all the warranty work from the 300LB gorillas leaning on them like a breaker bar and breaking anvils and the casing near the battery.

New heated jacket showed up today.. that makes number 4.. seems like it heats up faster than the older soft shells. Love it so far, but will have to wait to see if the arms get excessively cold like the one i tried and returned a few years back.

i have to empty the plastic shelving in the closet thats in my spare bedroom, cause i need the space to hang ****. I have a pile of stuff in the basement I’m tired of looking at, and the cheap portable closet thing in the other spare bedroom (if you wanna call it that) is collapsing.

I gotta ask, am i the only idiot with like 20 jackets in the house, for one person? Between what ive bought myself, and what gets gifted to me over the years (that i dont ever wear) - storage is becoming an issue. I seriously think i can do 2 weeks at work without wearing the same jacket twice.. and believe me, I’m not bragging. I have days i feel like I’m drowning in needless overflow.

And as if they were on timers - 2 of my “powerextra” m12 batteries are dead today, and the terminal cap broke off one of genuine m12’s.. (well at least i have 2 spare battery cases to fix it now)

Finally got my preorder from Northern Tool. Slowest shipping ever. Really like it so far just playing with it at my desk.

Comes with usual bag to haul a full kit in.

Tool only set so cardboard to take up the space of charger for shipping.

Different included attachments.

And the 90° works with the others for those really hard to reach spots.

I like that the direction switch by location is an in/out instead of forward/reverse.

WTF, I figured that chart would have came with the tool. I haven't received mine yet. Damn thing was shipped by UPS Surepost so it won't be here until late next week. I hate Surepost & Smartpost shipments!

Anyways, come to think of it I think I did see that chart in a video. I wonder where we can get the chart?

Anyone know of a better deal on the right angle die grinder than the $20 off at Northern Tool. Thought maybe someone would know of somewhere that wasn't backordered and had a coupon or free battery.

I only have 4 jackets, but I must have a dozen hoodies. 2 of which are heated. And yeah I don’t like the arms on them. The rest of the hoodies has the extra layer, why don’t the arms have it. The same for the beanie. There is an extra layer over the ears, but the top portion is just the knit fabric. And is it just me or is the heating a lot slower to warm up and not as warm after they’ve been through the washing machine?

Yeah I hate smart post. It seems like it gets handed off to USPS and then sits somewhere for at least a couple days before it starts moving again.

Seriously! I don't understand why it takes so long.

I don't really understand the service either. Why go through UPS or Fedex then have them hand it off to USPS? Wouldn't it be cheaper to just ship directly with USPS?

I understand convienece for the shipper but at my old work we still has USPS pickups even though we had great rates with UPS & DHL.

Doesn't help but you just missed the $25 promo from Toolnut. Tool just came out so I think you'll have to wait a while if you want a better deal. I was planning to wait till the price came down to $150 or so to get it until I saw the $25 promo.

I used that one on the extended ratchet that is stuck in the smartpost loop we are discussing currently. I'll probably just backorder with Northern since it has $20 off and 4% cashback.

I was talking tool only so the $25 off wouldn't have worked.

I wish my local HomeDepot had a Milwaukee selection like that! I was in there this morning and all they have is two end caps for battery tools, one has M12 and the other has M18...

The heavy duty Home Depot stores have big milwaukee sections. Years ago milwaukee took over all the shelf space Hilti use to occupy. My local HD, thankfully, is a ‘heavy duty’ one.

Is "heavy duty" a type of designation?

It was a term HD used from what i remember, if they still do today I’m not sure. Dont know what the official designation actually is, but I believe it was stores that included the one time hilti section (now the expanded Milwaukee space) and the type or amount of tool rentals they carried on sight. The one by me has a lot of towable type machines you can rent, like a mini excavator(?), cherry picker, stump grinders, those stand on landscaping loader things, trailers, wood splitters - along with the usual indoor rental tool section.

The cordless tool retail space is dominated by Milwaukee. They stock more of what Milwaukee has compared to any other line - but not everything. If they kept everything on one side of the isle, milwaukee stuff could probably fill one side of one entire isle of the tool section.

My HomeDepot has a few M18 battery starter kits on clearance. I want to say one of the kits had a 5 and 9 Ah battery in it. I took pictures but when I checked again they weren't saved.

The first day of the $25 promo it wasn't good for the tool only, said not good for preorders even though it said in stock. I happened to check on the last day & they changed it. Tool only is what I bought with the promo, also ordered the boot but the website says won't ship till Feb. Hopefully it comes out sooner than that.

These were the battery kits. Anything worthwhile?

Got the M12 1/4" die grinder in today from Toolnut. They did change and honor the deal they had going on.

I've never used a die grinder before and am really impressed with how quickly I can remove material with it. It's light and speeds up quickly. Torque is good as well.

Do need the higher capacity batteries though. It went through a 2.0 really quickly, but the 6.0 lasted quite a while.

I'm rehabbing my John Deere 318 working on the brake linkages. Did a great job getting the rust off and skuffing up the paint for primer and paint. Don't have the before picks, but here is what I was able to get done this morning.

Used a bristle disc and some sanding discs.
