Blasphemy for this thread but I also looked at the Bosch PS22 Overview 12V Max EC Brushless Two-Speed Pocket Driver. Bosch has some competitive 12-volt tools but Milwaukee dominates the 18-volt game. Used to pick the best tool for the job with some brands having better tools in certain categories. But cordless tools and baterries drive brand loyalty.

ps22 is the best in its category but all my Bosch batteries are dying and Milwaukee 2402 brushless is "close enough" that I think I'm going to that. unfortunately it never goes on sale and it's typically $130 bare tool on eBay. it's sad that Milwaukee won't design a better compact screwdriver, I know they'd win this if they cared

2042 22 kit has 2.0 ah batteries and a brushless motor. Overkill but I'll try 2-4 clutch settings and it will be handy for other projects. It has to more delicate than the M12 fuel drills 350 in-lbs or M18 compact brushless 500 in-lbs.

Bosch has some great 12-volt options with the ps22 and ps32 but I already have a Milwaukee multi-volt charger and 2.0 ah M12 batteries in 2402 kit will let me pick up bare M12 tools. Wish Milwaukee had an M12 brushless that was closer in spec to the ps22 basically a non-fuel brushless screwdriver but that might not be a big seller.


Big Orange usually shows a max return value on the receipt. For example, I bought an ac dc dual power rover with the free XC 5.0 promo for $149.00 and max return value on the receipt was $74.50 for each item plus whatever tax they charged. Kept both of them since about $75 a piece was a good deal. Only helps with calc after purchase though.

Is there a way to -zero- out the tire inflator. It reads a bit high. with nothing on it, it's at 1.5lbs. I adjust as such when topping off

Okay seems I'm reading some of you that are getting some older daycoded batteries in current purchases.

Now many only have a partial charge when new at best. I used to see two on most of them M18 in particular. But have been noticing only one light as of late on a few M18 batteries I've received
(M12 always seems to have two of them though).

I never really ever ponder over the date codes and honestly haven't had a battery fail completely on me yet I'm more than 5 years time or even seem to not hold a good charge like the old nicads used to do

But I had two 2.0 compacts go completely dead on me while in storage I found today. Wasn't paying attention and they were in a tool bag, brand new still and wrapped in their plastic bags.

Just searched thru my purchase history and these 2 came with a 2866CT Drywall screwgun purchase thru ACME dated 5/1/17. Good deal was only $159 same kit is $229 at Home Depot right now

So no lights to be seen at all on either battery and of course the charger just kicked off with flashing lights and neither would take a charge at all.

So yup I had to jump start them both. Didn't take very long to boost them enough to take a charge and all is good now. Longer time was rounding up my test wires

So my advice here is... don't hesitate to fully charge your new batteries

I just seen this Milwaukee accessory and supposed to work with all their models of the cordless SDS Rotary hammer drills. Maybe its a little goofy I dunno but a vac can also be hooked to it

Extremely inexpensive attachment and the reviews do seem ok on it

Especially liked for any overhead work

I've been using it for about a month now and it works well. We have the onboard hepa filter vacuums that clip on and power up with the trigger however for the 3/4 undercut anchor bits we have to use on the ceilings to anchor soffits and brackets the vacuum just is too long and not wide enough for the bits.

I got permission from the bossman to order 2 for each of our about 400 cordless sds drills and everyone seems happy with em so far

Ha I'm clueless where my printed owners is (I had actually looked for it in the garage) and strangely enough the Milwaukee didn't have it as a PDF file link on the product page either...just the parts breakdown go figure.

Just used my inflator for the first time to top of my truck tires, 4Runner tires, Dads Jeep tires, and riding mower tires. Worked great and is perfect for that role vs getting the air compressor up and running.

I'd like to see an M18 version of the inflator with dual ac/ dc power. I have several M18 batteries and the M18 XC 5.0 ones would be a good fit for an M18 compressor. I do have a kit coming with CP2.0 batteries but would want 4.0 or 6.0 ah for the inflator.

I do not like their tapes at all. Too fat to fit in my Occidental pouches, weak retraction, flimsy tape compared to Stanley (their extra wide is the same standout as the fatmax thats been out forever) and the clip isn't great either.

They are being discounted for the new version that was just released

The only Milwaukee tape I like is a freebie 16ft mag end one I got with some package offer don't even recall what it was now

I did buy a promo 25ft very flimsy all the way around.

I'm a Stanley Leverlock guy and have been for decades, 25', 30' and 35 ft all metal case...they last for a long time if you don't mess up the tape by kinking it or something even then they still often don't break.

No Fat Max's for me Leverlocks fit in my tool pouch just right

I like the Leverlocks too, but I wish the Milwaukee was a Leverlock and I wouldn't touch a Stanley again. The tape end messes up too easy. The first foot of mine are **** after just a short period of getting snagged on stuff and twisted. Even I am amazed at how fast I can screw up a Leverlock.

Will say he put them thru the motions well enough all the spade cuts were all over the 7/8" flat bit recommendation in the users manual.

I have two of those 2462 impact drivers, one of the first Milwaukee cordless tools I had bought in the beginning (and actually it was my very first Milwaukee cordless purchases too IIRC) and long before the M12 FUEL driver. I often commented on the how nice and slender the handle grip always was.

Did run that long timberlock down into that chunk of pine like nothing too really...I remember how easily I had snapped and or stripped a few bolts on a sacrificial 5HP B&S small engine just messing around with 1/4 shank nutsetters to see just what it could do when I first got

All and all not too bad for a $99 holiday promo

Never seen so much Green in my life outside of Home Depot though

But actually that dude had a lot of different tools on the wall

The question was asked over the Milwaukee deals thread about how well the Milwaukee M12 SDS Tool works. So this the right place to hold tool discussions as seems there may be too much tool related chatter over to where the deals only are supposed to be posted (was recently remarked about by one subscriber to the thread there).


So there are actually 2 M12 SDS tools. The original brushed and then the later FUEL model. There are a lot of videos on line You Tube about the original brushless tool which was well received when it was released (quite a while about 5 years now, the Fuel came a year or so later)

I'm going to put this one video here, Its the most recent 2019 though it an Aussie review and on the brushed version it is a long term user review and not just an unboxing and finger fondling session.

My purchase should be delivered early this week I have a couple of basement garage projects planned during the winter months here and I'm wanting to attaching some items for tool storage purposes to my full concrete walls

So I ordered 3 of those SDS drills for express delivery. Apparently they only could find 1 at the store that had 3. (happy I did not make the trip now) He delivered the 1 already and is going to another store for the other 2. Then I ordered 6 more + batteries for the free HD delivery, due in Thursday if they don't cancel the order.

At first glance, it feels pretty nice. Nice balance. I threw a 5/16 bit in and drilled a hole in the floor and it was a little slow going. Battery as at 1 bar. I put a fresh battery in and tried again and it went in surprisingly well. Very little vibration. I think this little guy will do well for us on the smaller holes.

I think the downside of the M12 sds tool is going to be the battery run time. The upside is the low cost + convenience of smaller tool. These will likely benefit greatly from the 6ah batteries as well.

I say this from running the M12 polisher/buffer, and the M12 air compressor. Those tools do not have a super run time when under load. Luckily the batteries are quick to charge!

The non Fuel looks pretty cheap to me. My 2 additional just came. Here it is compared to an 18V 1". Its really small in comparison. Smaller than the picture conveys.

Just for clarity was it another 4.0AH battery you put in as a replacment battery?

My experiences have always been most M12 batteries no matter what size usually only come with a 1/2 charge when new out of the package

Yes, I put a fully charged 4.0 I had in. The one that came with it showed 2 bars and dropped to 1 after running it into the concrete. This makes me question about the power output once the battery gets to half charged vs full. M18 seems to run full power all the way down to 15% in my experience.

Ya batteries do get slightly weaker as the charge runs down. When I ran tests with my digital non contact tachometer the Max RPM speed dropped some at each stage of battery discharge 4 lights 3 lights 2 lights etc

The bigger AH batteries also show a boost in max RPM especially over smaller compacts when freshly charged. There is short thread about AH performance going on elsewhere on TGJ right now
