ARE Milwaukee tools expensive or are we paying for the R&D ;-)
Or to rephrase, are the specialty Red tools expensive. They are priced inline with all other competitors so I guess not. I answered my own question ;-)

Was just looking at particular M18 speciality tool - M18 Pro Press.
Different animal I suppose, but I was saying to myself, dang I paid half of that for the M18 KO kit

A licensed plumber I work with often I asked him why don't ya have one?

He said to me too expensive

Deep down, I feel like solder still rules for longevity....tho. This is more for a fast jobber sweat. I'm sure pro's use it cause it saves time. However, I still am on the fence on the LIFEspan of the EPDM O Ring.

I really like my Mid Torque. Have it for about two years now. It was purchased as promo kit with a single 2.0 battery for like $199 so your $165 price is well in line for a bare tool option. And it is what I grab first over the beast of a High Torque I own (the Gen 1 2763).

I recently bought a 3/8" Stubby but don't see myself trying to substitute it on jobs I would normally use the 2861 Mid Torque on. Though have 3/8" 2754 I will be grabbing the stubby over that one hands down. Honestly in total retrospect that one has to be my least used impact wrench...and really I use the small 2 mode M12 2454 even more than that M18 compact

ENJOY IMO no need to beat yourself up over your decison. There will be plenty of times that High Torque will be the one you'll want to use still

I guess I'm struggling to think I need 3 (or, strictly-speaking, 4 if you include the M12 1/4" Surge, which I also love already) impacts.

I know the Surge and Stubby will see a lot of work. They're totally keepers.
I think the Mid might cover 80% or more of what's left - or maybe 95%.
I know the High can cover everything except the spots where it's too big.

I just wonder what gaps exist between the Stubby and the High (things where the High won't fit but the Stubby can't handle it, same for the Mid-->High) or if the Mid can do everything I need when the Stubby can't deal.

It's the size of the High that's making me think, and the weight a bit.

This is the second pass at this logic-fest (from when I got the High). I work on my cars, but I'm not doing that much...

If anyone is working on crusty old BMWs (and similar - i.e. mid and small cars) and has thoughts on whether the High+Stubby leaves reasonable need for a Mid (or Mid+Stubby leaves no real need for a High), I'd appreciate the thoughts.

[EDIT - this thread here on GJ had a lot of insight. It sounds like some folks who have all three still reach for the high, but many get along fine with just fine w/ the Stubby and Mid.]
[This video was good too]

Found my missing M12 6.0 batteries... call off the Amber alert... no ransom was paid.

1 was plugged into the band saw... in its case.
The other was in my upstairs go bag...

I've had the same kind of mystery a couple times. Just realized today I'd put a spare in my tool-bag that's ready for replacing a bathroom fan, and another is in the hood light (which is so. damn. cool.). With all these battery bundles, I'm doing pretty good on batteries (if Milwaukee would send the the replacement M12 4.0XC that was DOA...)

It's just... I keep close track of my 6.0 batteries. I actually use the majority of them for a Medical Device I modified to accept the batteries. The device has a 1.0Ah battery that costs way over $100... and they truly do NOT last a year. With my Milwaukee 6.0Ah batteries... it's crazy great... I get 3 days of medical usage vs 45 minutes... yada yada… it's important.

If it goes more than four hours you're supposed to seek medical attention.

Three days? Wow.

So also see and ad for these two items coming

Pack out TOOL BOX with tray and built in dividers. Overall kind of like the Ammo Box style...might be more usefull to some with an empty bottom maybe though :headscrat

and DUAL Port SIMULTANEOUS M18 Rapid Charger (no M12 ports)

Wow wondering now what the amp draw is on that one will be. Cant read the tag in this crappy shared photo ad

Without this battery setup... Mrs Pines would be calling ambulances... often.
 :lol_hitti

So in a way... Milwaukee batteries... are her addiction..... four to five times a day. Oh... mind out of the gutter. It's for MY nebulizer.

So its like half a middle box but with dividers? Still dont understand why dividers were never made or sold for any of the existing boxes, the trays and things they came with ****. Packout is now 2.5 years old and I think it was short sighted design/plan from the beginning. Considering that half box is probably going to be $69, the similar sized bag is a better option.

Edit-Wait does it say $39 for that box?? Then I am game.

Dual M18 only rapid, why, sure there are people in M18 or M12 only. A simultaneous M18 & M12 single rapid charger I would think be on the roadmap before this. How many freaking chargers do they need to make. All the heavy tool users I know prefer more batteries over better charging options, no one worries about having to charge things during the day. Everyone loves the 6 bay M18/12 rapid station.

So also see and ad for these two items coming

Sad to not see a M18 14" Cutoff......

What do you guys think . Will there be a MX variant of a force propane heater and they might skip the M18 entirely ? Kinda....pushing the trades to the new platform. ....leaving us weekend warriors out.

If Milwaukee is screwing it up, it's on chargers in general.

I've got so many M12 chargers I'm actually mad about it. (Side note - anyone wants an M12 charger, I'll send it to you for actual cost of shipping)

Packout is now 2.5 years old and I think it was short sighted design/plan from the beginning.

I've not been able to pull the trigger on the Milwa Packout boxes because I have issues with the design. I thought I was the only one?!

The small boxes get carried by handle upright, but opened flat, which means the contents get the old blender-mix treatment. I don't like boxes that change their orientation; don't like tools & hardware flying around inside. I climb a lot of stairs when working and can't roller up the stairs, so hand carry is the only option.

The medium boxes with swingup handles are so WIDE that they uncomfortably grind on my thigh while schlepping them with the handle; they're too wide for narrow stairways I have to climb -- a trim box is more comfortable to carry.

The bottom rollered box is great (for no-stairs work), albeit when loaded it can be so heavy it takes some power lifting to get it in and out of the van. And it's so deep that there's a lot of digging that occurs to find a tool. Tilting the box too far back while rolling causes the blender-mix problem again.

For my own purposes, I've stuck to trimmer, handle-carry, orientation-upright boxes...but with more trips in and out to haul it all, or a separate roller cart. However my mind is open if you can persuade me...maybe I am overlooking something obvious. Not a big fan of foam to keep tools in place; too inefficient on space.

I actually like the large size but thats because mine are more stationary storage used for organization.

Some of my issues with the design/vision.

Mounting, things can only be mounted one way, its a real issue with bags and totes, especially the backpack & tech bag. Plus while the mounting system is very strong and secure it is kind of a pain also. Mounting/dismounting things on top of the crate is a pain, its almost like its a knockoff and not the right dimensions, crate on a crate isn't smooth either.

The bottom roller is tilted forward slightly. But what I learned after getting the dolly is all the pieces mount slightly tilted, I don't like seeing a slightly leaning stack of packout on the dolly but I am very particular.

Lack of accessories for inside the boxes, the include trays/containers are lazy and useless. Why not make the organizer dividers so you can cross 2 and make a 4 section of a cup. Also feel like there could be external accessories as well, ever seen that mod to have an extension cord holder its genius.

The indents, ridges and uneven interior walls of the boxes is more annoying than anything.

Why wouldn't they have a rack mount system like Dewalt, Systainer, or Bosch? I don't think its even possible with their design.

Why wouldn't a box with drawers be early on the roadmap?

Foam, why don't they have precut foam for all the boxes, was the intention to leave it up to the 3rd party market?

Sure there are 20 pieces, but not really if you eliminate half/full width orgs and diff sizes of bags and totes. But only 1 tool/powered item being the radio. Vacuum should of been a year 2 release. Probably coming in late 2020 or early 2021, afraid of what the price is going to be.

Price, even when things go on sale I feel its still overpriced, especially the plain bags, totes, dolly, and crate. Its almost overbuilt which is why. Though my buddy appreciates the packout box that slide off his job box in his truck on the highway on ramp that tumbled and skid a ton and came out without even any damage aside from some scratches.

The dolly is best example of poor design as I documented when I got it this summer, with the absolutely stupidest thing being the locking wheels can only be mounted in the intended spot, 2 wheels have one mounting rod size and other 2 another rod size, there is zero logic to this.

Backpack is so akward.

Sticking out handles on the slim orgs is stupid.

I don't think this is even everything as every time I use things there's some little thing that frustrates me.

Yet I am the true fool, desipte all my complaints I have about retail value of about $5000+ in packout, thank god it only cost me about half that.

i see the m12 rotary hammer is back on sale at Home Depot. is this unit worth it for small jobs or would i be better off spending more and getting the m18 unit.

https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwaukee-M12-FUEL-12-Volt-Lithium-Ion-5-8-in-Brushless-Cordless-SDS-Plus-Rotary-Hammer-Kit-W-One-4-0Ah-Battery-Bag-2416-21XC/205323942

Depends what M18 SDS your contemplating and if you want Plus or Max series bit sizing but if its only the 2612-20 the first step in the M18 lineup really I really don't see what your gaining besides the side handle and depth gauge bar. The 2416 M12 is brushless, the 2612 is not. Both have hammer/drill mode. the MAX bit rating the same, neither have a chipping feature. RPM is slightly higher on the M18, but the bare tool alone is better than $60 more.

Your call I guess some people just rather be on the M18 platform :dunno:

A chipping feature probably starts $100 more bare tool M18

The chipping feature is my big hold up with the M12. If it had that I would already own it. I am looking for sds plus size bits since I have bunch already with my chorded DeWalt. Looking for someone who has used one to say if it is gutless being only a 12v but I know the brushless packs a punch.

Largest bit I've had chance to use so far in my 2416 (purchased one around BF) has been 1/4" went thru old concrete like nothing though.

Sure beats a hammer drill

If my intentions were to often max it out (1/2" or 5/8" bit) I would certainly go bigger.

Honestly I cant say looking at that ad :D

Can anyone find a part# listing or preorder advert?

I really do like the idea of a deep ammo style carry box. Without the divider bottom but using a foam pad be great for circ saw maybe. :headscrat

Dude, Did you knock over one of those Milwaukee pick-up trucks I sometimes see parked in the Home Depot lot? Are the cops coming for you? Do you need a lawyer??
Cheers, JimDon

Great... I use it with the 1.5 ah battery... keeps it light and good enough for my front yard and pretty quiet well...

How solid is the 7-1/4 FUEL circ saw that's on for 250$+ free 8AH at HD right now?

Would be my first circular saw.

That saw is a beast. If you need something for light duty work (quick cuts on 2x4’s), get a 6.5”, but if you need something for real work, that 2732 was built to be the equal of a 7 1/4” 15amp corded saw (you’ll need more batteries though).

Some guys just have too many toys did you leave anything in the store :lol_hitti:lol_hitti
It makes me feel better about my recent purchases...

M18 2852-20 3/8” Impact + JDTCo. Boot. $175 FREE SHIPPING!

Seems not bad price mostly seeing $199 online right now

That's a good bundle with the boot. Home Depot still has the 1/2" version up for $165 too - https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwauk...h-W-Friction-Ring-Tool-Only-2861-20/300955651

If I could get decent $$$ for my Makita worm-drive saw, I'd probably pick that up...

Well I'm gonna exchange my crappy 2891 speaker today. Not holding my breath, I doubt my present one is defective, it was NIB from HD and the clear tape looked unmolested as if it had never been opened

I'm actually butthurt that I bought the string trimmer before that mod came out. I would buy that adaptable model in a second. It would make getting branches off of my gutters a breeze.
Just thought I would post some of my new stuff...6c86046a62273ad52e56c0bd35327fe6.jpg0bf887f148e2c982f86576fe3ada4d49.jpg15f876eb5c0b0670eb0562a3093aa278.jpg38e3503610723ba42e10170f6095c47d.jpg76250dcff4a5c6a3816d93433171f363.jpg22778d7b3d5c3cfa3bdf7afc9ca2efad.jpg8933675a45cbeaeb3155402bba7520a9.jpg68026e2ddfc6dc3c8dcf6b6fb76a924d.jpgceefe845cb93181dca88040b526e7b6f.jpg610dca99caf1e87f35ca3673db60d909.jpg156ee0516a926f6fb4f1341d2161bcfa.jpg4f237c998a0b7a512d0e5246803a6cc3.jpgebec0f73d8a2bc6bf4b9291e33e9bf38.jpg9ea9f80f3b7e474de6e204cb63b4e103.jpg

Working in the driveway on a truck for a few hours today. I was loving the packout radio. Few people stopped by and all of them were impressed with the packout stuff quality.

A few months ago I grabbed the M12 Fuel Hammer Drill / Impact Driver combo w/ packout case. I do 99% of my work in my house, so I wasn't sure what I'd use the case for, but I knew that I'd prefer it to the soft side bag.

Today I finally figured out what to do with it :) The ratchet straps, cambuckle straps, bungees and cargo net that have been tangled up in the bed of my truck fit perfect! I should have room to squeeze my emergency inflator and tire plug kit too. Now I'm contemplating getting the mounting plate to bolt to the side of the bed behind the wheelwell.

Wall-Mount Milwaukee Blower?

Searched this thread and didn't see anything specific about this:

Just ordered a Gen II Blower and I would like to hang on the wall near the garage door to make it easy for my wife or I to grab for outdoor cleanup. I assume it doesn't come with a wall hanger. Any ideas about best way to wall-mount?

It's got a slotted hole for a wood screw head....
