Ya, if I was going to mount it to a swag table I'd probably delete the factory safety thing.

I found this thread after watching a "discussion" on the Deals thread regarding these attachments (mods?) for a Milwaukee blower:

I 3D printed a stubby nozzle for the M18 Blower. Makes it even better for blowing off a just washed car.

Found the design on https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5141506

Paul

Here is a deal on eBay for an M18 stubby nozzle.

Not mine, but cheaper than I would want to print them for. They also support a choice of colors.

Paul

Did a quick search, I'm not seeing a "Milwaukee Mods" thread, did I miss it? Or, is this the right place for such discussions?

Reason I'm asking (and maybe this is more of a custom attachments thing than a "mod" to the tools themselves)...

After cleaning up the 9-10 inches of snow yesterday, I had to clean out the snowblower augers. They weren't as bad as they usually get with deeper/wetter snow, but the cleanup takes forever (and if you skip it, the whole thing will freeze solid and either burn a belt during the next use, or melt and make a huge mess in the garage or shed).

My current tool for this job is a car snowbrush (and the plastic scraper blade has to do most of the work). A light bulb went off in my head out in the cold last night:

Is there an M18 tool that will make this quicker/easier??? Or, at least, an attachment for one?

For example, I'd buy a Hackzall at full price TODAY if I could throw something in the chuck to do the same job as that manual scraper!!!

Pics of the mess (these are from a bad storm last year), before and after cleaning...

EDIT: Maybe I could take a blade, grind off the teeth, drill some holes, and rivet a handheld scraper to it. Anyone have a better idea than fabricobbling these two things together???

^Don't hondas come with a stick for clearing clogs? I don't think I have ever seen a snow blower clogged up like that.

I'm in MA and the snow we got yesterday stuck to my Honda the same way. It's the first time it's ever done that. I do think I forgot to spray the impellers/basket down with Fluid Film like I usually do, though. If you aren't using that, give it a try.

That's great, but none of those things fit the addiction theme. FOCUS!!!

(Half) joking aside, that's normal here. I haven't tried Fluid Film, but have tried just about everything else (silicone, lithium, etc.). Yes, there's a manual tool, but it's basically a blunt stick, the scraper is the only thing that really works.

Also, the machine is kept in an unheated, dethatched shed.

meant to post this a few weeks ago, had a day off around the holidays and stopped into the Milwaukee service center here in Cleveland. Very impressive!

Good thought. Wonder if the electronics will prevent the safety from being bypassed. Might need to experiment with this on my whacker/trimmer first.

Another grievance with the swag plus fuel portaband is the main trigger is also behind and below the table. It's just an awkward setup at the end of the day no matter how I try justifying it.

Yes, they do. The tool is a round plastic “stick” that is pretty worthless. Mine disappeared about 10 years ago, and I never missed it.

No worries. Anything that helps you to justify buying more Milwaukee tools somehow fits the general addiction theme.

My first thought is you need an m18 powered hot water pressure washer that doesn't exist yet. 2nd thought is an m18 powered air hammer with a plastic scraper attachment, neither of which exist I think. Maybe the fuel SDS plus drill with a metal floor scraper? It doesn't have much balls so doubt it would hurt the snow blower.

Maybe this SDS scraper modded with half a plastic putty scraper with the handle chopped off?

@ecotec "Pretty worthless" is a compliment to Honda for that waste of plastic!

For anyone who hasn't seen one, here's a snip (online pic, my machine is in much better shape):

Screenshot_20220109-145517_Chrome.jpg

@Odd-job Thank you! I was wondering whether an air hammer would be better (or even existed). Also wondered if using a Hackzall in this way would damage it.

I don't think a rotary tool (drill) would work, but I do have some on hand that I could try.

I'd definitely get use from a Hackzall for other jobs around here, maybe I should just buy one already?

This damage is kind odd. Like like someone took a grinder to it?

Marks.png
Yup, I'm thinking it was subject to some sort of physical damage that caused a short to the battery but who knows.

I have that light & I love it. It's not crazy bright by today's standards but it's bright enough & has excellent runtime even with a 2.0 battery. I've ran it for many hours continuously, the light or the battery used with it don't even get hot.

Check with windshield replacement companies. The guy that came to my work had a full size sawzall with an attachment like you are describing to cut the glued in windshieldsScreenshot_20220109-210916_Amazon Shopping.jpg

Thanks guys!!!

Just watched this video, I think I'm sold! Really wish I'd had this when I stripped the (****) rug out of my old RV, and replaced the rubber roof on my current one...

Will probably add some plastic to the cutting edge, to minimize any risk of damaging the paint on the snowblower.

I've gotten several of these attachments and have been satisfied. I'm guessing one of these would work for you.

I was thinking maybe the OMT with a scraper blade on low speed might work to get the snow off?

Oddjob, I think the safety switches are just mechanical interlocks for the trigger so if you pop the case of the tool open, I think you can just remove them with their return spring and call it a day on most of the tools.

I have a chipping only function on my m18 SDS plus drill for running chisels and floor scrapers. It's pretty weak for busting up caked up ice, but might be a good fit for your application with a plastic attachment.

Either way would get the m18 fuel Hackzall. I never reach for the fuel Sawzall these days. Have mine always loaded with a pruning blade to hack up tree branches around the yard to throw in the green bin. Didn't realize there were so many cool scraping and brush attachments.

Who else swears at the lights when they start flashing the low battery signal? Seems like the M12 rocket on a 6.0 flashes for 20 mins before it dies, pisses me off.

I'm pretty new to this thread, but if this is also the complaint department / wish list...

I have an M18 Rover light that I'm trying to get used to. I've used it enough times to get the dying-battery-blink you guys are describing. Wasn't expecting that, and at first thought it had fallen. Was close enough to the garage lights that I wasn't disoriented, but if I'd been running the log splitter, I wouldn't have been too happy.

Generally speaking, I love this light. However, they didn't design it to work with larger batteries very well. Yes, they fit, but block my fingers from being able to use the carry handle, and stick our too far to use the magnets properly.

The M18 Rover is the worst designed light by a longshot. I was one of the first to buy it, took it out of the box and instantly hated it, sold it immediately before using..... only ended up buying it again on some crazy deal I got it for like $40, think I have used it once in 3 years.

Yeah the low battery blink now that you mention it is not only annoying but dangerous, I cant even recall how many blinks and if number varies on the model, but the larger the battery the more times it will happen. Think it only did two blink cycles when I had a 2.0 in the M12 rocket the other day, where the 6.0 is at least 5+ cycles. Cause I think the cycle begins based on pct battery remaining, where with say 5% the 2.0 only has mins left where the 6.0 can go much longer.

Just this week I have said "shut the F up" out loud to the M12 rocket every night I was painting the garage.

M18 Rover is my least favorite light. The flashes bother me most on the usb lights. I have more batteries but the life is short enough that I have to change them more mid job. I seem to be reaching for them more than the M18 lights though.

The best solution is prevention. Have you done the auger mod with the rubber paddles? It takes up the clearance between the auger and the chute barrel and turns your snow blower into a more efficient no-clog machine. Plenty of info on the snowblower forum. You may also have a slipping belt.

It's not clogging in the chute, and not building up in the impeller, so I don't know if that mod would help.

Slipping belt sounds like a real possibility. This has really only gotten this bad for the past few years, and this is Season #10 on this machine, so maybe that's not a coincidence.

EDIT: I looked over at the snowblower site, appears that this has been happening since the unit was 5 years old.

Anyone know if there's a Rover 2.0 in the works? I really like the concept. Very handy top put on top of the Trac Vac when raking out mulch beds on late autumn evenings, using way out back to load firewood into the trailer to bring to the garage, etc. Could stand to be a LOT lighter, though.

ya, that looks like it might be a design oversight or perhaps it was made before they had the larger style batteries so it wasn't part of the initial design considerations.

Finally got around to unboxing and setting up the new cabinet, which has increased in price by $40 like I thought it would, though expected 550-600 price.

Its pretty heavy duty but nothing says made by third party like a welded name plate on the front of the door. The shelves are held in with nice clips that notch into the shelf which prevents them from moving and I like the feature. The shelf plates are reinforced across the center so they can take some weight. I haven't loaded it up yet but likely to use less shelves than its max, there's not much space on them at max. It has 4 swivel locking casters, surprised not 2 fixed and 2 swivel, not sure if I like 4 swivel and its unnecessary overkill. The moveable small shelves on the door are nice but surely will run into placement and hitting things inside over time. Lock on the door but no latch, its magnetic to hold close which I am not a fan of.

Interesting is it can work with attaching to 5" caster older cabinets or the newer 6" caster ones, there are plates to increase the height when installing the casters. Which is why it comes with the older smaller casters as you cant reduce the height to match old ones. It does not have a power supply, but has a cord hole, comes with mounts for cord wrap, and a magnetic holder for power strip. I am not a fan of power strips on everything. I have only used them on the tool cart and 52 mobile bench. Unfortunately no bottle cap opener like other newer Milwaukee tool storage. The foam block which comes inside can be used to prop it up to install casters and as I found out after RTM it is intended to be used to prop up when attaching as a side cabinet. The first use of annoying styro ever lol.

Looks like they are adding a 24" version and I think they revised the motor controller to work with the newer HO batteries.
