Also wondering when there gonna come out with a 90 degree die grinder that has the button lock for the collet so you only need one wrench. I've been holding off forever figuring they would come up with a new version eventually

I'm in for a 1/4" for sure, I'll have to see if the new 3/8" beats the franken-ratchet I made from the existing Fuel 1/4" extended reach + the 3/8" "tall shift knob assembly" from the high speed ratchets.

I gotta see this thing and what it entailed to build.

Decided to try something and it worked.

This:

… plus this:
8F2F6F1F-4875-4DB1-9F90-D443AA4D0A49.jpeg

… equals the smallest-headed long neck 3/8” battery ratchet on the market, with zero modifications needed. The “tall shift knob” assembly intended for the new high speed 3/8” ratchet is a direct fit:

I went with the “tall” shift knob because I love how easy it makes operating the switch, especially with gloves:

It’s not as fast as my Snap-on CTR717 1/4” long neck (250 RPM vs the Snap-on’s 350) but it’s a little stronger, and that’s why I wanted to try to convert it into my long neck 3/8” ratchet. Pretty happy with the result.

This board is definitely missing KCtyphoon. Too bad he got himself banned.

To be honest feels kind of anti climatic now that we got some of the stuff we have been wishing for. Lawnmower, dual action polishers and tracksaw. Now just waiting for the deals at this point on my end.

I'd say probably more than it is worth. Color my not interested on this one. I feel like this only came out because the MX platform didn't take off the way they wanted. For home use, I'd rather have a gas powered generator. My home generator runs on gas, propane or natural gas. Since I have natural gas available at my house I can run the thing forever fairly cheaply. Also, you gotta run 4 batteries on that beast to get what you need out of it. Then how do you recharge it?

Don't get me wrong, I think it makes sense for a pro that is already heavily invested in the M18 line but I think for home gamers this is a miss. Maybe I'm not seeing it right?

I am still slightly pissed at Milwaukee for even venturing down the MX line, but am glad they are investing more in M18 rather than coming up with an MX powered lawnmower.

This actually probably fits my use pattern more. For $500, I think I would be in. Portable power where I need when I need it for relatively short durations, without messing with gas. Do wish it had 220v capability. Still have my gas generator that saved me during the last PGE shutoff and will save me whenever the Big One hits. I am actually afraid to put gas in it for fear of gumming up the carb which I'll no doubt discover when it is least convenient.

Just make sure you run it until it dies after draining the tank and also that you drain the lines bowl after that and you should be good.

I'm also happy they are investing in the M18 line with the multibattery solution. The MX actually makes sense for certain uses. I don't think I'd want to run a jack hammer off of M18 batteries for instance. I feel like Milwaukee bet of everyone jumping hard into the MX line and then not enough people did so they scrambled. I don't think I've seen a new MX line tool since the initial release?

$399 is pretty steep. Why such a small blade?

If it works with Festool track, that's a plus, but the price is a bit much for the saw by itself.

I'll wait this one out for a bit.

MX tools definitely an endangered species.

I'm surprised there wasn't more coverage of the 2022 Pipeline event. I'd like more info on the small head extended reach M12 ratchets, their new 90 tooth locking flex head ratchets that closely resemble MATCO/Armstrong versions, their spark plug sockets, and their sub-compact M12 impact driver. Milwaukee should have made a video for each of their stations and slapped it on you tube as in previous years. It seems like the automotive section wasn't covered well. :dunno:

The video below from Shop Tool Reviews covered a lot of the automotive tools.

I had an original m18 string trimmer that always worked great until i bent the shaft the first time carrying it on the new tractor. I went ahead and got the new two piece version. Slapped a 5.0 in the new one and went to town in rabbit mode. Didn't take too long to overheat the battery!. Is this normal? Never happened with the one piece.

Are you running the trimmer without the guard? I ask because this trimmer does NOT like to run long line (like I do) and that’s the only time I ever had it overheat on me. I started running “regular length” line and haven’t had a problem since.

This happens every time I use my string trimmer head, hasn't happened with my hedge trimmer head or pole saw head. I think it's my power unit instead of my battery, I like to feather the trigger when trimming around all the **** I have piled up around the shop and I've found that makes it cut out way faster. If I go back up to the house where I can just pull the trigger wide open it works way better.

I'm actually digging out the gas powered stihl today for the first time in a year. The Milwaukee is awesome for what it is, but if you have rough areas that you only trim once or twice a year you probably need gas backup.

I'm really interested in how the new brush trimmer head works.

$399 is a fantastic price for a cordless track saw. Especially with the power they showed going through walnut.

6 1/2" blades are common size for track saws. Very few people would need bigger as it's primarily used for sheet goods.

The only cheaper option for the longest time was Makita IF you got it on sale. It's $430ish normally. About once a year you would find it for $499 with two batteries and a dual charger. Recently I bought the older model tool only for $279 which is the cheapest I've ever seen. But I already had the batteries.

Ryobi recently came out with their tool only for $329 and $399 for kit making it the cheapest cordless option

Festool are $699 for kit with battery, $599 tool only
Bosch is $640 Tool only.
Dewalt is $399 Tool only but needs 60v flexvolt and their entire track system *****
Maffell Cordless is $860 Tool only. $1360 for the kit with batteries.

The 6 1/2" Fuel saw is $220 MSRP. D-Handle saw is $249.

Track saws always cost more. If you can't afford it then the Wen corded with powertec guide rails can be had for $200ish. But $399 for this saw is not unreasonable.

The sad thing is we will probably never see a sale/hack available for the tracksaw. Specialty tools are never included in those.

I'm using the guard. when working around flowers, I do some of the throttle feathering mentioned, so that might be the issue. putting a 9.0 didn't overheat, so ill just stick with three row batteries I guess.

I just picked up the M12 hatchet chain saw and the new hedge trimmer for my cabin. The chain saw is ok, didn’t need anything too big cut but that hedge trimmer is perfect for smaller jobs. Light weight but cut through like butter.

Didn’t want to use clippers but wanted something quite and easy. Home run on the hedge trimmer!

The only thing better than Milwaukee M12 stuff at home is having duplicates and more at the cabin.
