I´m too poor, the prices are almost like Snap-On ...

It's true that it's getting closer, but do you think it's already that close? I bought a Snap-On ratchet lately and prices seemed in a different category, even compared to the new Nepros prices...
Why don't we have this kind of tool finish line in a european brand offer? USA have Snap-On (even if finish is a bit lower than Nepros from the reviews), Asia have Nepros, but here nothing?
KTC is a bit the japanese Gedore no? Can't you ask, when you do your monthly report to the german tool ministry, to plan a highly finished tool line from a major german tool brand? Would be a nice tool of propaganda :D

Including the price increase issue? :)

I hope so, it's a silly mistake of the webmaster in charge of designing the new site, he probably put his test prices database into production by error :)

I honestly think that they will see a decrease in web sales due to this price increase. Times are still tough and trying to develop a US export market with price increases is short sighted. I have a feeling the interest generated here is responsible. I hope the team at Nepros reads this. As far as the Snap On pricing, the Nepros ratchets are heading that way. My dual 80 was cheap in comparison to the Nepros 30 something toothed.

I compared the old prices vs. the new ones from the new site and they are increased by 20%. Yes, it's a bad politic to increase the price after such a short while of good sales. People have bought tools mostly by curiosity and there was not enough time to build a reputation like Snap-On or the European manufacturers. I'm still waiting for a shipping quotation from Japan to Romania with UPS and the Japan Post Office. I want to see what will be the final price for the tools in my hands.

Back to Stahlwille and Hazet we run :)

yup :D

SO is still much more expensive than Nepros, but Nepros is closer to SO than to Hazet etc. (if i consider shipping + 19% sales tax + import duty - or the prices from their shop in Holland)

Belzer :)
I thought Facom (some items like ratchets... no ?)

KTC is a bit the japanese Gedore no?

yeah farmer tools :) ;)

I actually thought about asking Gedore if they don´t want to resurrect the "Dowidat" brand and offer glossy tools, like Dowidat once (and Belzer, and certain Gedore items like pliers) did, glossy plated tools with green translucent handles (Belzer -> red). Like a special limited edition or so, only a few pliers, a screwdriver set and maybe a socket set as well as a couple of wrenches. But i think the glossy times are over, thats something from the 1960`s with all the chrome on the cars and fur hats :D and black + white leather shoes etc.... :)
Nowadays everything must be mat, even cars come in mat colors direct from the factory now.

VERY NICE:thumbup:

I am impressed with the shine and fit from the photos posted.

Question:

Are the crowsfoot flare nut sockets as good as the snap on's? Snap on is legendary for the minimal amount of flex and are the best on the market. How do they stack up to the Snappy?

Thanks.

I was in the Air Force and lived in Japan for 7 years and remembered being told by my Japanese Co-workers that SEK and KTC were the top tools in japan. When it comes right down to it I don't see Japanese tools the same as i did 20 years ago, they make some super quality products. Unfortunately chinese imports are taking over Japan also.

The finishing on some KTC tools is in my opinion not that great. Their pliers are not finished very well with high edges on the jaws from inferior machining. You would not see this with Stahlwille (VBW) and to a lesser extent Knipex. I do not own any Nepros pliers but I assume they are finished to a very high standard. Shame that the KTC line does not have a high level of detail for the finishing process.

spv,

I own the following Nepros pliers: 200mm bent nose, 200mm long nose, and 200mm slip joint. After looking them over, I noticed no inferior machining issues with mine. The machining and chrome plating quality is amazing!

I think so too, not only for my own interest but it was a bit early to increase the prices, at least they should have done this gradually...
They're still not well known outside of places like here where you find a big quantity of fine tools enthusiasts, willing to pay for good tools AND pretty finish.
When you see that most of people don't care that much about quality, high finish is really hard to sell if you're not a big name (like Snap-on in the US, Facom in Europe,...)
However, from my experiences with japanese, I don't expect to see them lower their prices...
That said, from the reviews of Nepros tools, it's still worth the money, it's just that we're coming from big bargains time...

Belzer? I thought it didn't exist anymore, but I've always heard people of my grandpa's age talking about them as a top notch brand, higher than Facom, "the kind of tool we don't make anymore".

I would consider Facom as an "half Nepros" in Europe.
Well, I don't own any Nepros (but a few Facom), from what I've seen in this thread Facom's are not as well finished. Nepros shapes are less sofisticated, so very shiny chrome suits them better than Facom. But Nepros is a special line of tool from a big manufacturer, I guess that KTC makes Nepros as much for marketing purpose than to earn money, to show the kind of quality they can obtain...
I would like to see what Facom could do if they decided to make a special tool line like Nepros, but it's not in the path they've decided to follow.

I agree that shiny chrome/no plastic tools are old fashion, it's why they should be a special line from a big brand offer, for nice tools enthusiast.

Mmmm, not really the same as US prices :) But actually I expected them to be a bit higher than the quote you received
I don't know if it's the same in Romania but UPS is always taxed by the customs, EMS not really often...
I guess it's still interesting compared to the prices of the dutch site....

They look amazing. It's a hard decision to put them to work or somewhere safe :) . Today Ms. Eri sent me the Nepros price offer with the same price as on the website. She said that for the moment they are keeping those prices but soon will follow an update, and i think that will be an increase. She said that for the moment they can take only wire transfers, no cards, no PayPal.. nothing. I asked also for a shipping quote example to Europe so i could calculate the final price for the tools.

So, nobody from Europe want's to make an order?

R25

Hi,

Can you sent your order? I want to make an order. I live in Budapest, Hungary.

Geez I've been working so much lately I haven't had a chance to catch up on the Nepros pricing gossip.

I received a set of Nepros t-handles 8,10,12,14 at the old prices.... pics to come soon.

People have to remember Nepros.net reflected 2004 prices, how much have Snap On prices increased since 2004?

Anyone know what's going on with the Nepros.net website being down for so long?

Jacked the prices up (times are still tough, should have held off for another 6-12mths), messed with their site that broke it in everything but IE. Copped the backlash and took their site offline for going on a month. Their site was not complicated at all, so I figure this could be the end of the "export to the US" Nepros setup. Who knows!?! I am sure you can still go direct.

Thanks goes to Snap-on for gobbling up Belzer. I don't know the exact details, but SO must've saw Belzer as being their largest European competitor so they just had to buy the company out right.
Does anyone know the full story behind Belzer's last years?

Nepros.net website.... like SPV said, I wonder if that's the end of it and we'll never see it again? :(

I know its been down for awhile, but maybe that earthquake has delayed them alittle more... KTC's website still works

Heard from Eri today (had been waiting on some back-ordered pliers), maybe they will have a website back up by the end of this month. Here is what she told me:

Thank you for your e-mail.
We hope to finish it at the end of this month but since we have not heard from the website company, I guess they are still working on it.
We are very sorry for the inconvenience.

Thanks for the update Jason Ga.

I sure hope that the new website will do the Nepros name justice. Their first version was lacking in content; theirs much to say about why Nepros is the world's most costly hand tools produced, and hopefully they'll add information about how the Nepros series came to existence.

Aklass,

Thankfully, the earthquake did not affect the region KTC operates (Kyoto is in central Japan). ...although, I'm wondering if the many tool companies in Niigata (sort of like the Wuppertal of Japan), in north eastern Japan, have been affected by the quake.

I received an email from Eri Inoue today that informed me that they are finalizing the new website and should be back in business in the next week or two.

williaty,

The Nepros prices are higher. However, the shipping fees are still reasonable. To see the shipping prices, add a hand tool to your shopping cart. The FedEx shipping speed for orders under $100 is about a week from Japan to my home. For orders over $100, shipping is next day delivery.

Just letting you Nepros fans out there know that I just received my first tool from them, a 13x15 6pt box wrench. It took 2 days via FedEx to Honolulu. I ordered through their website last Thursday (5/12), invoice date was 5/16, and it arrived today (5/18).

Thanks to this forum, I was able to find a very nice quality tool and can't wait to use it on my first oil change on a Porsche 993.

ALOHA!

P.S. My very 1st post on GJ!

First and foremost, thank you for serving and stay safe.

The Nepros tools I have are in a portable tool kit that I haven't used much. I have only used the 3/8" drive ratchet once and it worked well (I prefer my Snap-On 80 toother so will sell this eventually). The extensions and sockets I've used much more and those have held up well including the chrome. They are designed well and nice to use. Strong and true to size. I expect these tools to have a long life like any well made name brand tool.
