Adding character to that garage every day. Looking really good!

Thanks Nighttrain! Originally, all I wanted was four walls and a roof. GJ changed that and I'm having too much fun to stop now:)

Wow Paul I am very impressed with how that is turning out. One small step adds up over time and that looks fantastic. Great job:thumbup:

Thanks a bunch Dave. It'd be nice to take some large steps but it keeps me happy going at this rate. I think I can finish it (hahaha) by about this time next year:bounce:

View from the aerie. I might have to put a chair in the corner so I can hang out up here:)

That's the perfect vantage point to enjoy a tall cold one

Ladder? Are you crazy? :willy_nil We need to start working on some type of pneumatic man-lift or something :) (Although, exercise isn't a bad thing either. and it's free! :D)

I'm thinking I need to keep that corner clear as a 'meditation' area:).

A pneumatic man lift? I like it!! When I had my sheet metal shop my motto was "If you can draw it, I can make it". So..........put your engineer's hat on and get busy:D.

Some things you can tell just by looking at them. That's a great bench setup.

Thanks Jack. Finally a decent bench! The plan (??) is to continue down that wall on the other side of where the hardware cabinet is with a place for the drill press/bench grinder and then a metal clad welding area. Was that a run-on sentence?

Paul there have been several members here who have built attic lifts using HF 120V winches . Try a search for attic lift and see what you come up with :D. I have one of their smaller winches ( I used it quite succesfully to haul full 90 gallon toters out of the basement after the fire) it worked quite well pulling them up the stairs so I could haul them over to the dumpster . I still have it and will find other uses for it around the house . My current thoughts are to install a D ring near the back of the garage so I can use it to pull " dead " projects into the garage :D.

Rick

I seem to recall someone on here installing "pull pots" near the front of the garage to connect a winch to. They purchased them ready made and just had to drill a hole through the concrete and install.

Let's see searching this site yields:
- http://garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4378&highlight=dead+car+winch They are talking about using concrete anchors.

It's not the one I was thinking of.. I remember someone that bolted a piece of C channel to the floor on top of a pull pot and then mounted a winch to that. They had a link to the company that they got the pull pot from. That would work well to anchor the winch down and get the car in/out.

Nice pouring down rain day here:(, so I dinked around inside.

I did the floor in the bathroom. These are just the peel and stick tiles (Armstrong) so they may not hold up very well but Mrs. TB gave them to me for Christmas a couple years ago so I'll give them a try.

This old medicine cabinet has been hanging in our pantry for years. It's just funky enough that I like it. I just cleaned it up and painted it. I would have recessed it but there is just too much stuff in that wall. No shortage of bandaids here, Mrs.TB works at a hospital:). It's a good thing too!

Looks great PAul . By the way if the tiles do start popping just run over to homie desperate or lowered expectations and grab a half gallon of trowel on vynil floor adhesive . We used it with the peel and stick tiles in the basement and I can tell you it takes a fair bit of work to get one of them up now .

Thanks Rick.........I'll probably have to give that a try if they don't stay stuck. I've got enough to do the office too but I want to wait and see how these do. The white ones seem to get marked up really easily.

I've heard of snowballs, but we don't get that many around here...

That bathroom looks great. Those tiles just add to the effect you have created. And that cabinet is classic with the round top. They sure don't make them like that any more.

The tiles should be fine as long as you don't turn your wheels while rolling on them. Considering where they are, that should not be a problem.

I know the feeling.

Thanks guys.........We don't get too many snowballs here usually but once in a while we get buried. As for the tiles, I guess I'll just have to leave my walker at the door:)

I think the tile looks great with the green/black cabinet in there. It will probably look even better with a white toilet in there, if you ever get 'round tuit. :D (using mdbeck1's famous saying)

Keep up the good work!

Ahh, wood siding, checkerboard...its all looking so good. Very classy!

Is that going to be what the rest of the floor is, or do you have other plans for the main space?

Thanks shopnut. Toilet should be in there shortly although not operational. If I can swing it, I'll get my retired-septic-rich-contractor neighbor to do the tank and drainfield before he goes to Arizona for the winter. If not, I'll at least do a drywell for gray water for now.

Thanks Dave! IF I do anything with the floor in the main area it will be what Ryan did at the Atomic World Headquarters. Clear urethane. I think it looks awesome.

I dunno - maybe there shouldn't be a toilet in there. Since you are a tinbender, how about bending up one of those old style horse trough type of urinals and just pipe it outside. lol

FYI tinbender...

It looks like the signature link back to your build thread isn't working - maybe an extra "http" in the link code???? Discovered it trying to come back here looking for the spelling of "Feng shui"

Can't have people not being able to find this cool place!

Thanks for the heads up shopnut. You were correct. There was an extra 'http'. It's all good now:thumbup:.

Busy work to keep motivated while I wait for my end-of-the-month ship to come in.

Over the last couple weeks I've been playing with the jointer.

Nekkid:

Add a little Hammerite. It's light blue. Not surprisingly, it's called 'light blue':

Little parts:

I had to polish something:)! I polished them somewhat, painted red and then when dry (at least a day) I buffed them, removing the paint from the high parts.

Going back together:

DSCF4395.jpg

Back where it belongs. I didn't do anything with the bearings as they feel ok. I may regret this but they are pretty easy to get to. The knives definately need sharpening. I'll see if I can do that myself haha.

The jointer looks great TB66. Red/polished knobs are a great touch. Are you serious about sharpening those knives yourself? Seems like it might be tough to get them true, but if anyone can do it, I'm sure you'll make it happen.

BTW, I have one of those Stanley/Zag portable benches too (it looks just like yours anyway). I actually use it quite a bit since it is so easy to whip out when needed.

Thanks shopnut. The years I spent building model cars for contests turned me into kind of a detail freak.

From what the manual said you can sharpen the knives with them on the machine and use the table as a guide. You can also do it with it running:scared:.

I love that little table! Funny thing is, I bought it years ago at HD. I was in a hurry and thought I was buying a 2-pack of saw horses. I almost took it back. Glad I didn't.
