Did the floor.

Vapor barrier
2" foamboard
OSB subfloor

too a while, had to cut legs of bench

and the post is gone

Do not do this =p

I removed this post because:

It supported a beam for a roof no longer there, at some point the roof failed and they replaced it with a truss system and for no reason left half the center beam and two posts. Does nothing other then interfere with proper function of the trusses.

guess what... it was not attached to the beam, wacked it with a sledgehammer a couple times and fell right out..

and yes I checked with two engineers before I did this.

Well as shown before I framed in a 6x8 doorway. Looking around at what was available double doors, especially insulated ones run a hell of a lot, so I built some of foam board, dimension lumber and osb.
THe 2 inch foam in R-10.

Materials:
1.5 sheets of foam $50
2 leftover 2x6x10s $12
3 sheets osb $ 30 (damn this stuff went up)
$92 total

Ripped down 2x10s into 2 inchstrips

laid out frame on osb

Cut foam to fit and assembled with drywall screws.
(was about 0 degrees out when building this otherwise I would have used adhesive as well)

Doors up, need to add doorknow and weatherstripping to seal the air gaps.

I hear you there, this has been an awful winter. Hopefully you will be all insulated for next year, I think I say that myself every year, but never really finish things.

SO I am alive, been busy. First a few old photos from the winter.

I overdid the electric a bit.... two circuits in double gang boxes every 3 feet on both sides of the wall, and homeruns in between each in the chain, to be dedicated circuits or 220 later. Framed in a door opening on the other side as well in case I ever need it.

couple weeks ago.... hmm those lights flickering aint a bulb going bad the whole circuits flickering....

hmm and when it does theres a buzz in the main panel.... and that lug looks kinda melty....

been meaning to replace the main panel in the house... wasn't expecting to do it Monday morning

yes it was a mess. New one is better but still needs organizing....

two weeks ago the back porch that had looked bad since we bought the place last year started falling off the house...

yeah it was a little rotted.

and the pool pump was under it... so had to careeeefully drop it in sections

all down, nothing crush no one hurt...

hmmm why can I see into the wall...

ohhh because the idiots who built it had never heard of flashing...

that was a fun repair, even the top plates were gone so both had to brace the ceiling and still carefully piece together the wall with braces holding up the upstairs wall...

The wall has been rebuilt have not decided on the stairs. No reason for the deck to be rebuilt plenty of patio etc..... And proper code footings would be deeper that the house....

Looks like you have been having fun. I too have been doing electrical work, not as involved as yours though. Are you ready for snow yet?

Check into the spray on foam insulation, research on you tube and google. this stuff is great especially against bare metal. Just a thought. hope it helps. Oh plus it fills every nook and cranny.

Well nothing is every quiet as fast as planned. Mostly because I make things harder then they should be.

What I have been using as a mitre saw table

The workshop when I started.
Picked up a jointer and planer on craigslist the other day.

I sortoff copied a woodworking magazine design, and built the frame out of cut in half 2x6s I had leftover from the ceiling bracing. This took a long time, I should have just built it cabinet style, especially since I am probably going to add sections of cabinet inside it.

End of first weekend, doesn't look like much

It will be installed in this corner, I am trying to keep the other side rather open to allow a full sized panel saw someday, and the bench hurts my back as it was always short and I had to cut 3 inches off to put in the floor.

End of second weekend

Tore out most of bench, painted, droped my removable ceiling sections to bring over power to be droped later, installed, played with the fiddly bits

Fence sections being glued up

I have added a ton of details I picked up from various websites, and one I have not seen anywhere before. You can see hints of it in the pictures.

I like it, I'm in the process of converting my basement into a woodshop now. I think you made a wise decision installing those outlets, extension cords are my nemesis.

making progress.

Test flip stop. The measuring tape will be on the back plywood of the fence, machine screw is a trial micro adjust. Not sure I like it.

saw installed and all leveled, right side permanent mount fence installed, working on a cabinet to go behind it.

I will have a permanently setup on the right to cut up to 4' pieces always ready.

Left side can cut up to a little over 8' and is mounted on track so I can slide it back when not using it.

Flip em to point out when the saw is set to mitre at 45. They give space for the slide while keeping dust collection box smaller.

been a while, holidays get in the way. Got a porter cable drill press

Mostly happy with it. Has a little runout I haven't messed with yet.

magnetic hooks and trays go well with it.

Step bits on the hook, punch etc in the tray

Mitre saw station is done for now

That is pretty lucky they didn't break, considering all the salt & rust on everything. If it was me, and they did break, I'd probably leave the tailgate off until spring! I am a big wuss where cold is concerned.

pulled most of the stuff out of the woodshop to finish painting the walls. Then put is all back. Looks better then giant paint test colors and patched drywall.

Built a flip top planer cart today.
Took about 2 hours.
No fancy drawer on mine, height is too low.

Cost?
4 harbor freight wheels ~12$
half sheet of plywood ~15$
2 eye bolts and some screws ~3$

1/2 in emt for the axle ~1$

so 30 bucks not to hurt my back moving the damn thing
