A couple of 1/4 inch picked up at garage sales yesterday. Cornwell TR-3 and a PLVMB. Any idea of age?

The Plomb would be 40s I believe as it is a WF (Government Contract for WWII)

Identufy Drive Plug and Housing

This was in the bottom of a box of old tools I bought at auction yesterday. Can anyone identify the brand that used this drive plug and holder? It is 3/4 drive. None of the rest of the ratchet was with it. Does anyone need it?

I could use that 3/4 drive plug for an early Plomb ratchet I have that is missing it.

Not sure how vintage this is, but someone evidently needed a stubby 1/2" ratchet. Cut off, looks like with a torch. And it also is broken. everything is rattling around inside the head
proto 5450, at least it used to be.

^I'd have no compunction about scrapping that if it were mine. Someone really worked that one over. :(

I'm planning on keeping it. As a reminder of what not to do. Maybe someday, just for fun, taking it apart and see just how bad the internals are broken.

Mossberg FIREARMS?
I have a cotter pin puller made by Winchester.

No.
Frank Mossberg (b1858) and Oscar Mossberg (b1866) may have been relatives (both immigrated from Värmland Sweden), but their companies in Attleboro MA and New Haven CT are not related (although Frank sold a controlling interest in his company the same year that Oscar started his own - 1919).

Putting around and taking a break today so I thought I'd take a pic of my Ratchet adapter collection.

Left to right SO, Herbrand, New Britain, None Better, Husky, Proto and Plomb. Blackhawk front and center.

There's surely some more floating around somewhere....e7dfb0c1b303463d510a1574d00a9145.jpg7d2c80b57ca76922e95fa730bedecfb5.jpg8f6625326f001ce989f86b23acfec1ef.jpgbdb08f9cb1b7b66e1fd923c6a13a3b7f.jpg24a51a2a2add61811dd2ad9bcc9b3748.jpg

Here is a pair of Walden 3150M 1/4” mini ratchets. A couple different regular 3150 ratchets for comparison. I think they’re 4-1/2” vs 5-1/2” iirc.

Does anyone have a catalog or anything on these?

Thanks for checking Don. I wonder if they were a catalog item.

I like the raised lettering. Another thing, they each have different screw holes and screws. One recessed, one not. Walden is known for ever changing though.

I spotted this Armstrong "Packer Ratchet" (often called boiler ratchets or ratchet drills) at the flea market this morning. Used in the bygone days before portable electric drills to drill or ream very large diameter holes in steel erection work (bridges, etc). I almost bought it just for the novelty of having one, but there was no drilling post (or "old man") with it and the guy wanted way too much.

I find no markings on this open gear ratchet. Anyone ID it?
It’s a lot like some Hinsdale rats, but the ones I’ve seen are clearly marked and have a flat bar handle. Duro? New Britain? Walden?
Edit- ah, looks like Don posted one a while back. Lugz opined Hinsdale. And SK was also mentioned. I was hoping for Hinsdale, so that’s where it’ll go for now.
Looks like a Hinsdale H-6, c1931, as shown in their “Bobcat” sets, except in the illustration the rivets are two different sizes.

Yeah, OTG has the same ratchet in some early S-K sets so I put mine in with my early S-K sockets. The similar ratchets with dual bands of knurling have been more positively identified as S-K. It’s really hard to pin it down when the ratchet is so early and totally unmarked.

I have a ratchet that looks very much like that and it is in a Fulton socket set. SK, Hinsdale, and Indestro had ratchets that looked just like this. Here is a pic of the Indestro:

The first two here came in Brazil sets, the 3rd came in a fulton set.

Clearly you needed to buy a couple of window cranks to get a package deal. ;)

Been after one of these for a while. For some reason, I see mostly 3/8 and 1/2 stuff from Herbrand.

This one looks good and works good, probably needs cleaned. Chrome peel in a couple small spots. Knurling is sharp in them there bands. 5.25" long.

Edit: faceplate is stamped clockwise from left, "M-5" "Herbrand" "Made in U.S.A." "Van-Chrome"

Nice ratchet. 1/4" drive always the hardest to find for me.
