A few years back I picked up this stainless top from a local ebayer moving old restaurant equipment- it was intended to be mounted to the wall on an angle as a drying rack of some kind? I chiseled the mounts off of it and built a frame around my old Craftsman 6-drawer chest to hold it at a convenient height for standing work.

It's got a lip all the way around it, which makes it great for working on little fiddly things like motorcycle carb rebuilds. A piece of oil-resistant foam flooring from Costco makes a sacrificial work surface that protects soft aluminum or brass bits from the harder stainless.

Bonus- toolbox covered in office-supply binder clips and old hard drive magnets, which also get repurposed into a variety of one-off projects.

Ooh shiny [emoji106] Were those an Ebay find too?
No, I dug them out of a scrap dumpster at a job I was on. I didn't realize they weighed nearly 80lbs each when I went in. At 7' tall, they nearly kicked my *** getting them out by my self.

I didn’t think to take a “Before” picture, sorry. This little cabinet was put out with the trash by someone along with a small, Chinese table top drill press. Press was rusty and doesnt have a lot of power but worked perfectly when I plugged it in. This cabinet was filthy, faded yellow but solid structurally.

I just quickly buzzed it with my Dewalt palm sander, wiped it down and used rattle can paint I already had on hand, Regal Red and Satin Black to mimic my Craftsman stuff.

“De-rusted” the bare metal on the drill press using a Rustoleum product and I’m surprised how well it worked. Pictures of the drill press later.

So my friend bought a small salsa company. Production wasn't very efficient. A Hobart Simplex dosing pump puts two 7.5 oz squirts in each tub in just over one second. 1/2 second later, you better have another tub ready, or product is going on the floor.
filled tubs are handed to a lidder, if you are good, you can do two at a time with a lid in each hand, another one comes along every second. The lidder sets them on industrial cookie trays, and slides trays of a dozen to the skirter who puts a heat shrink skirt atop the lid of each tub, and makes sure no lids are loose. The choke point is here;
a manually spun 'sculpting turntable' is spun with one hand, another holds the heat gun, and another tries to set the tub in the middle of the table so it doesn't fly off. about 3 revolutions, and the skirt is shrinked. the turntable might hold enough spin for 2 tubs. Except nobody in the crew has 3 hands. 2 operators to keep up with the pump.

So here is my machine, it took my job:D
Shrinks skirts in one rev at 45, and plays Madonna.

I spent $5 on the record player, and welded it with flux core. The heat shroud started life as a can lid.

Nice. Did you have to bend it yourself, or was it shaped like that right off the machine?

No, that part was made like that from the
factory. I just welded on a steel plate and
drilled 4 holes so I could mount the mailbox.
Sunk it about 26” in the ground and it’s still
a little high I think.
I found it for 30.00 on craigslist.

Huh, how about that. I've got one exactly like that out back in my scrap pile.....

Do you have the square ballast tube, that weighs like 50lbs? I've been trying to figure out what to do with it.

Yes I have/had 3 of them, I cut the ends off
though so I could take the two Round
bars out and use them for other things.

Finished the second beer tap the other day.
The motor is from an early 70s Harley Davidson Sprint 350. I’ve pulled the 5 speed transmission to put in one of my other motors.

I saw these beverage holders at Aldi for .99 each, makes a great caliper holder. A little trimming and they work great, plus you have a lot of straight rod to make more.
