ICE PICK
I have been working on resealing driveway cracks. Found that using an ice pick with the tip bent at 90 degrees helps get the **** out of the crevices. the only problem was i hit a snag a couple of times and the pick came out of the handle. I tried several times making a new handle but nothing retained the pick part well. Desperate, I got out an old pair of regular pliers and the welder. after 5 minutes, the pliers became the new ice pick handle. pretty? NO , but functional.
Calling @BlakeTheCarGuy ! cpttuna modified a tool! On top of that he WELDED it! Oh, the humanity!🤭

More of a recycling than a repurposing, but there is a wellhead in our back yard so I built a low brick wall around it with bricks and leftover mortar a friend gave me and topped it with a free granite piece that I got from another friend who runs a countertop business. I used a flap wheel on an angle grinder to dress the granite edges. It made a great sitting bench on a nice day with the grandkid or dogs playing in the yard.IMG_1785.jpeg

Had 10 minutes of training 50 years ago. Also have nerve damage in both hands from my open heart surgery- otherwise steady as a rock.

You’re hired

Absolutely, has to be better than my welding "abilities." To be fair, when I was "trained" the guy training me would always reach down and adjust the welder before giving me the stick. Then, he'd adjust it again after I butchered the job and he went back to welding.

I didn't realize it at the time, but I'm figuring he cranked the heat (or whatever it's called) up or down so I'd fail, and he'd get to be the only welder.

Was a high school / college (summer and winter break) job, so I didn't really care. But, I do wish I could weld so I can build / fix stuff.

I weld for myself. Only got into welding because I obtained the metal to build some firewood racks. I got a guy in town to weld them for $10 each. after spending $40 , I decided I could do this on my own if I had a welder. I maybe have welded something for another person twice in 50+ years.
