I found this old table stand and picked it up pretty cheap. Also found a nice brass wine bottle opener so decided to put the two together and make a wine table.

I had a bunch of pieces of sheet copper laying around as well as some old cubical desktops we were throwing out at my old job and put it all together. I tried to make it "wine themed".

Had to hammer in some grapes and vines.

I didn't do such a great job at the little bottom drawer things (they swing out) but it's functional and gets a lot of use!

Combination hardware storage and sorting tray. I have a sorting tray from HF, but got tired of constantly dumping glass jars into it, sorting, then dumping the hardware back into the jar. These take up a lot more space than glass jars, I suppose they can sit on a shelf or hang, possibly from shelf standard brackets.

I have an old empty prestone jug cut something like that. I use it to drain old lawnmower oil.

Wow, just finding this thread. Lots of VERY interesting creativity here! I have two dead engines (an old Briggs with a ventilated case and an older Tecumseh with a suspected broken crank), might be able to make something out of those after all, LOL...

I was told to repost this here, I made this from drawers from a broken work bench and some scrap steel. I used the last of some cans of paint to paint it. It holds gloves, glasses and some other ****

I should have added this too, I was given it because it’s missing the motor and the motor mount. I got a piece of glass cut and modified some little legs to fit
Too cool! My standard joke is: "that would make a great end table", in this case for you, it did make a great coffee table!

Unfortunately for me, I would be they guy who was always tripping or whacking his shins on those edge rails!

funny enough I’m thinking of putting some barn board together to make the stand an end table for the guest room. You can tell I’m a single guy lol

I will post pics tomorrow but tonight I started repurposing someone else's repurposed "engine" hoist.
It started life as an old engine stand and a mini truck bed crane(harbor fright I think) that got bigger welded together.
I'm fixing the crappy welds and turning it into a hitch mounted engine hoist after cleaning that your normal engine hoist/cherry picker needs a flat level hard surface.
Trying to currently pull a 5.3 ls to swap into my 1990 chevy 3500 that's a tbi 350 running on 7 cylinders.

Most of the steel I used is salvaged too from mostly drops from other projects and or old Canadian made bed rails the hitch tube is made out of 2x2x.250 wall.

If you have any questions regarding the swap harness wiring, let me know. I have now built 5 stand alone and 2 almost 3(finishing up another) plug and play harnesses. For various GMT-400 trucks.

Was out walking one evening in Denver and spotted a piece of furniture at the curb, solid wood, but ugly dark stained pine, a drop leaf table. From left to right, the shelf, the top, and the two drop leaves edge glued to make a larger board. The piece had some large holes in the top and leaves, which I drilled out clean and filled with 1/2" dowels. This replaced a piece of 4'x6' pegboard which I gave away on CL. It's a hybrid approach of sorts - each board hangs on a french cleat. Most of the tools are hanging on wooden dowels, which is time consuming, but looks and works better than nails. I really had to fight my urge to make everything uniform and rectangular - I figured, if I leave the boards as is, I'll have more space to hang stuff.

The photos, as they came off the phone, were over 3 MB - the compression I used did weird stuff to them.

And the pegs don't come off with the tools and fall to the ground. And pegboard is pretty limiting as far as hanging different shapes - I know about Wall Control, but the cost of all the different hangers adds up quickly.
Buy the heavy duty hooks (.210 diameter) instead of the wimpy ones and they stay put really well.

That's really cool. If I could triple my square footage, I would like to do storage like that. Unfortunately, just about every square foot of wall space in my garage has tools, hardware or parts jam packed together. Oh, and I don't have the imagination to make something like that.

Paul

I'm not one that likes to hang tools out on pegboards or such, but this is a really cool idea

Ditto, every time I see that, the one on the right reminds me of a surfboard or boogie board. Very, very imaginative!

Here's some more, I did these a while ago. Not repurposed to the same degree, but the boards did start out as shelving from either my house or curb finds. I have only a small space, 10'x20', filled with machines and tools, and so floor space is at a premium - I have to make use of all my vertical surfaces.

My GF thought "warriors shield".
Very, very nice! Free is my favorite price!

Didn't cost anything but my time - however, they are very labor intensive; everything is custom fit to size. I sometimes wonder if they're worth the effort, but it is about making stuff after all, isn't it? And the value of being organized can't be underestimated.

Getting to old to move mattresses by myself so wanted some dolly converters that allow you to move folding tables.

2F3849E5-AB21-417E-BD82-3F082DC13747.jpg

Checking the scrap rack, I found a set of old hairpin legs and angle from a sign.

Works like a charm.
Every time I have to move a mattress, I'm confounded by the lack of handles - what were they thinking?

If you're old, so am I. I remember the mattress handles as well. I also remember them ripping out on occasion.
