Just subscribed. My father started in the service station business in 1957 with Pure Oil in an old cement block building similar to this one. When the Union Oil Company of California purchased Pure, they demolished the old station, and built a new one in 1967. He still owns the building and has it rented out for a convenience store now. He too ran a small engine business from the service station, so this thread reminds me of my days as a kid.
I would love to have an old service station myself, but living in the Atlanta area, property values are going crazy, especially commercial. With that said, I'll have to find something more rural, which is the plan as this area keeps exploding with population and retirement is within the next 5-7 years.
Congrats on your purchase, and I'm looking forward to your restoration!
