I got the clearance impact, but couldn't find any batteries when I was looking. Hell I dunno where the clearance shelf even is in my HD.

At the top of the ryobitools.com website, click the picture (link) that says "New Lithium+HP 6AH Battery. A new page will load showing the increased tool use for different tools *and* an upcoming offer to buy two of the new 6AH batteries for a "spacial" price from Home Depot.

Actually, these new batteries are going to be a big deal if they perform as described!

Yes, these batteries sound like a great deal for tools like the grinder, circular saw and recip saw—brushless versions of all are on my upgrade list as well. Loving this. I’ll need to build some kind of customized storage solution for my Ryobi stuff.

Does anyone own the stick vac from Ryobi? Would like to know opinions/ratings on performance. I've been waiting for it here in Canada...tried a Dyson, what an overpriced piece of **** that was...just want something for quick cleanup on our hardwood, not shop use. I already have a bunch of Ryobi in the workshop, so it would be a good fit....thx

Just saw the 6ah batteries in a fb ad. Comments there from the Ryobi page said the 6ah batteries come in mid-May and that we will also be getting a 9ah battery by end of summer.

Thanks! When I loaded the page before, it apparently wasn't loading everything, so it wasn't displaying - now it loads a lot more content, and I can see it.

Organizing the garage and decided to try hanging my power tools on pegboard. I also have a lot of the Ryobi 40v yard tools, table saw, chain saw and pressure washer.

It helps that Home Depot is just around the corner, but for my diy use around the house I really like the value I get from Ryobi.

The only issue I've had is one 40v battery dying. Ryobi replaced it without hassle, but it did take 4+ weeks as they were back ordered.

Was any progress made on the 2x18v adapter to power the 40v tools? It was mentioned in one of the first posts in this thread...IMG_20180505_171442377.jpeg

Re: The new 6AH batteries are on Home Depot site

I stopped by my local HD and asked about availability for the new Ryobi 6AH battery twin pack. Apparently there's still no firm release date. I'm watching this closely because I'm going to be all over these new batteries as soon as they drop!

Me too, along with the brushless non-hammer drill.

Today I tackled the pile of branches thats been sitting around for a while with my Ryobi One 18v chain saw. Worked well. Had some thick branches about 5" max and it chewed through them with no problem. It's not going to win any speed cutting contests but for occasional use around the yard it's OK. If I had to cut down a tree bigger than 6" dia I'd fire up a gas powered chain saw.

Hi all, does anyone have a ryobi 18v brushless chainsaw? what are they like, good or bad.
I have one of the first models with out a chain brake, the chain speed is so slow so that it doesnt need a chain brake, not sure of the speed but its pretty useless.
Looking at selling the old one (only used twice) and buying the brushless which has a 9m per second chain speed this is up there with other makes, I already have lots of ryobi 18v batteries so I would prefer to go with them.
Thanks in advance.

Had a $50 HD gift card from Christmas that I hadn't used yet, and I had an outdoor project coming up.

I had a 4-D cell caulking gun that really didn't work all that well, and absolutely ATE the batteries. Soooooo I checked on-line at Ryobi.

Sure enough:

Worked pretty good too, even on my old black/yellow batteries.
If anything, the caulk came out TOO fast........

Can't speak to the brushless, but wanted to see if you'd tried one of the 4.0AaH batteries in your older chainsaw?

I've got two of the original blue ones, and while I never had an issue with NiCad performance (save short life), the 4.0aH Lithium-Ion batteries really woke it up, and I've found them far from useless.

Agreed. The 4ah batteries made a huge difference in pretty much all of my old blue tools.

HOWEVER, the the new 6ah batteries in my old Ryobi P500 circular saw is nothing short of revolutionary! New battery; completely different tool! Compared to the ni-cad powered disappointment I originally purchased, this is a 5 1/2" cordless saw that I'm ready to add back into my list of first line tools.

Yesterday i picked up the new 3.0Ah HP battery starter kit (2 18v 3.0Ah HP batteries, charger and bag) at Home Depot and grabbed the suitcase style wet/dry vac for free. Had a chance to use the vac today to pick up pieces of a broken drinking glass off the kitchen floor and it worked great!

I did the exact same thing. I used the vacuum to clean out my 4Runner when I got home. Great suction and not too loud. I loved how all the pieces clip to the side of the vacuum. My only complaint is that while using it the attachments wanted to slip off the end of the hose. Since it has one of those stretchy hoses that you have to pull to length, I found that happened a lot. Not too bad though.

We already had a Ryobi string trimmer that my wife loves, so the batteries and charger kit were mainly for that. The vacuum was a nice bonus. Pretty good sale in my opinion.

We have one of those to do the adhesive for paneling a few years back. Certainly wouldn't use it were being pretty is a concern, but it's great for getting a lot out fast. Watch out and make sure it doesn't push the plug on the back of the caulking tube sideways, had that happen a few times and it's a big mess.

Thanks for the query, yes I tried larger 5AHR batteries but it made no difference to the overall speed.
The low speed issue was confirmed by a Ryobi rep who was in the shop one day, he said that if the chain speed is under so many feet per second then the saw can be manufactured and sold without a chain brake fitted, I think they only made this one model without a chain brake.
I have a sawsall and it even cuts small branches better and easier than the chain saw.
I have decided to buy one of the brushless versions, will let you all know the difference soon.

Anybody have the ryobi transfer pump. How well does it work? I was thinking about getting one to use to pump water from a rain barrel to a garden.

The new Ryobi 18v brushless chain saw, first use. Nice and light, thin chain cut, and its quick and easy to use. Largest of the dead wattle about 6" or 150mm thick cut thru in about 14 seconds. All this cutting with a 5 amp hour battery used about 1 bar/light on the battery (1/4) Very happy over all.

Should be fine for that, especially with the gravity pressure from the barrel. If the run is short, I would try to just use gravity pressure to drip tape, though obviously doesn't work on longer runs. Besides the good price, it also has an AC option. The downside compared to say the Milwaukee (only other battery unit I know of) is that the hose connections are plastic, vs brass on the Milwaukee.

I see Home Depot has Ryobi 9.0ah battery/charger kits on their site, not available yet. $179 seems a bit steep for Ryobi, even the Milwaukee 9.0/rapid charger kit is $169.

My 40V "jet fan" blower shocked me GOOD the other day! I was wearing light leather gloves too.

It started shocking me through the "turbo" thumb button on top (this particular design uses an index finger trigger and a thumb button on top for additional "boost").

At first I thought it was just debris blowing back and pelting me. Then I realized it was a repeated electrical shock.

It also caused the battery that was in use at the time to act funny - back home the battery showed 1 dot but once put on the charger the charger would analyze it, determine the battery was fully charged, and switch to green which also causes all 4 lights on the battery to illuminate, reflecting a full charge.

After sitting for about 24 hours the battery seems back to normal and charged normally.

Weird. I'll pursue warranty or something

Any extra thoughts on the chemical sprayer? I’m getting really tired if using my little one gallon pumpers, but the constant running air pump I hear in YouTube reviews of the Ryobi is kind of a turn off. How loud is the little thing? Seems like the convenience could outweigh the annoying sound.

I love the sprayer and don't pay any attention to the pump running to be honest. If something like that bothers people then they're probably being way too sensitive, it's not a bother at all. I don't think it's that loud at all, and when you consider the pros of not having to constantly pump a handle or keep squeezing a trigger it's more than worth any bothersome noise. I'm going to add an extra length of tube to it, it will be nice to have extra reach with it.

Thanks guys. Picked one up today and, yeah, noise isn’t bad at all. The YouTube reviews I found must be using pretty basic microphones because they exaggerate the sound pretty bad.

I just got one of these too. I have a few 18v yard tools so already had the batteries. I am replacing a corrugated fiberglass roof with corrugated metal, and couldn't find my caulking gun.

I picked this up almost as a joke to out gizmo my wife, who has never found a gadget she doesn't want. I have to say it works great and after 12+ tubes of caulk it sure beats squeezing it by hand.

Could be operator error but I agree it could use an even lower setting. I had to really scoot along in a few spots where I wanted to lay down a nice even bead where it would be visible. It is possible that with practice and cutting the tip smaller that would be addressed.

Went a little nuts with the Ryobi two 3Ah battery/charger/case/free tool promo HD had going. Ended up picking up the orbital sander, dual function inflator/deflator, brushless impact driver, trim router, hybrid stereo and the 20 watt led worklight which is the p721 updated version which is great. Ive also bought the brushless drill/driver & the 1/2 impact wrench (even though I have 2 Milwaukee fuel 1/2 impact wrenches). Can't tell you how impressed I am with what they can make at their price point. My other platform is Milwaukee's m18 fuel which I have a lot of but I ended up buying into the Ryobi stuff with a small inflator I needed for an air mattress and haven't looked back.
