isnt getting dealer plates gonna contradict your non commercial status with all the federal CDL **** that will entail?

A dealer plate is one of those things that isn’t really understood by most officers, but if I start doing lots of hauling it could become an issue, I envision it being a rare occasion that I use it for that purpose. Most of the time it would be for things like suburbans and other “personal” vehicles, all sales go directly through the dealership and I would only be “test driving” or I am a “sales manager”, I do not have any ownership responsibilities in the actual dealership.

You are going to have to have your feet retread.
I am pretty sure they will retread themselves, the contact areas are still sore and cherry red too. Luckily today is more office than running around. Next time I will put shoes on. :(

I am trying to do one project at a time and finish it, but things keep changing on me. Saturday my Dad came to me with a letter he wants to publish in the local newspaper about one of our towers. I thought we were aimed at selling it, he wanted to rebuild it or build a new one next to it, or...... Then he says sell it, then he doesn't want to pay taxes, then he doesn't care, then he wants to keep it, well now he wants to replace it again. The major issue is that there are three existing cellular carriers and a fourth is going to install equipment soon, we don't have the power to force them to do anything if we upgrade the tower, the only way to do this would be to move the equipment uninterrupted or minimally, and we pay for everything. I can guarantee that not one carrier will be happy about this and will most likely fight to have us pay for new equipment so they are disrupted minimally. No matter what happens it will be a very expensive proposition and very time consuming. Dad can't connect the dots anymore, he just sees the end points and thinks everything will work without an issue.

Maybe explaining this to his wife might help. If she sees money coming out of her pocket, she might be on your side on this one.

Your dad seems like some higher ups in companies I've worked at. Once they hit a certain point they forget the work that goes into things because they haven't done it in so long. Meanwhile employees are stuck guessing what they actually want done so they know where to focus their efforts.

Trying to run a business without internet is awful. The office is hot, even with the AC going, it is about 95 outside, and probably about 80 to 85 inside, at least there is humidity too. :(

I am waiting for the service tech to show up, they say between 3 and 4, I would imagine it will be closer to 4 if it even happens. My luck will be they cancel at 3:59 and once again I will have wasted a bunch of time. I thought I would be productive and scan some documents, but the way our copier is setup it emails the documents to us, so that won’t work, then I thought I would try and deal with a couple other things, had to send a bunch of documents through my phone instead of being able to scan them. I had planned on being in the office all day, so I wore my clean clothes, looks like my mechanic wants to work tonight and I don’t want to say no, it would mean having Goldfender usable, but now I have to see if I can find some work pants. I usually have a spare pair floating around, but nothing has been “usual” lately. I didn’t have time to get lunch and the sandwich shop I go to wasn’t open when I went by this morning, so I just ate some two year old frozen mini pizzas, they are already settling like, well, two year old frozen mini pizzas.

Tech showed up about a half hour late, I get a $25 credit, he thinks it is the modem that is my issue. Apparently they “refurbish” them by wiping them off and then shrink wrapping them up. We are currently on modem number two. :(

Sounds like some of those youtube automobile "restorations" where they change the oil.

The tech couldn't figure things out, he thought it might be my computer, or my router, but nothing is consistent with the modem. We tried two routers and I hard wired the computer too, the hard wiring seemed to deliver the best results. I need to do some more experimenting before the next tech shows up Wednesday afternoon. :(

I ordered the sink for the shop, the Lista issue seems to be a catalog part number issue, so they sent the proper parts, but not what I had ordered. I will say they were nice enough to provide me with dimensions of the sway braces that I needed so now I have to make my own. I had planned on that all along, but I wanted a template to make it easier than converting all the metric dimensions, then trying to figure out how to get .4 millimeters marked...... I still don't know if they are going to request the wrong parts back, but I hope to get a full refund at the least.

Electrician is scheduled and confirmed for Friday to help rewire things, this will allow for the lift bay side of the storage wall to be installed, that will be great, then I can temporarily load everything onto it and clean things up around the shop to create some working room for the other bay.

I still haven't figured the internet out, I may have to say there is a combination of things that has happened. I have so far decided that the wireless routers appear to be working properly, but the main computer may be having an issue with its wifi card or something. I can get things to work with it hardwired, but not through the wireless connection. Basically the wireless will connect, but after it starts to test for upload speeds, it drops the connection and won't come back until the computer reboots. I brought my laptop over and it seems to work fine on the wireless setup, but my phone is still slow on the wireless. It is very strange, seems almost intermittent, but the tech from yesterday wasn't able to handle all the troubleshooting steps needed to figure things out, he just wanted to swap modems. :(

Anyways, it is Buster Poindexter hot outside.......

I am at the lake camp, going to setup a keyless entry lock on the main door, then I am going to look at some homemade adirondack chairs, the guy uses skis (cool, but not for a lake), saw he had some that are made of water skis, thought that would be perfect, especially since you can't buy a chair to save your life. The ones I wanted to order are 12 to 16 weeks out, that ain't gonna do. ;)

I had to get the internet setup with new network names and passwords, I also brought a couple chairs up to take the living room a bit better, next step is to find a smaller coffee table to fit the room better. Things are looking good, the propane company says they will have the propane plumbed for the gas grill just after 4th of July, so I can deal with a couple tanks of propane until then.

Also dug out the drone, got the batteries all charged, but the clouds rolled in and my stepmother showed up to the other camp, decided I would lay low and just eat my dinner, she is gone, but I don't like the looks of the sky, so I will wait for a better chance to get the pictures. Going to see if the drone (it will) needs an update or ten....

I think I remember you saying you had Apple routers at some point. If you do, you may need to reset the router and create a new name/password. I had to do that when we had our modem upgraded to get it to work.

I did that yesterday, I did recycle the names and passwords, I may give it a new name and see if that changes anything.

Tonight I got to pick up some cool Adirondack chairs, they are really nice, seem to be perfect for the lake too.

Buster Poindexter? I kind of know who he is. Did it really get over 90 there? Robin lived in Maine and said upper 80's was as hot as it got.

It was actually 101 according to two thermometers yesterday. Today was definitely upper 90s and both days were humid, thick enough to cut with a butter knife.

On the wifi issue you probably have already checked this but could be a problem with the 2.4GHz channel, if your laptop is capable to connect to the 5GHz channel it will work fine but the (older?) desktop might only work with 2.4GHz via wifi.
Hate these intermittent issues, can be a royal pain in the backside to find the cause and most of the time you need to replace routers etc till it all works.

Like those chairs, did you say he has ski backed ones as well?

Yeah, lots of regular ski chairs, I just didn’t think they would fit the bill for the lake.

as for the wireless, it did the same thing on two different routers, so I am thinking it could be the wireless card in my desktop. I run all fruit based products, my iMacs are mid 2011s and I replaced the WiFi/Bluetooth cards to get newer standards, so it is an aftermarket one design for a newer iMac. The thing that is strange to me is that all of this started when we upgraded the modem and speeds. To top it off, it worked great for the first week or so, I was getting at least 220 mbps download and over 20 upload. Then it went on the Fritz. I also know that the internet was down, because I my phone was even swapping me over to LTE due to no internet on the WiFi. So I could have multiple issues, I have been trying to isolate things and see what I can recreate, but it was so hot, I am not sure I did things correctly to prove or disprove what was going on. Regardless the tech didn’t like what the new modem was doing, so he thought there was still an issue. It was taking the modem well over 5 minutes to find a signal and he said it should be a minute, maybe a minute and a half maximum.

well start by eliminating things, plug desktop or laptop in with a cable to the modem, see if that works. if so add the router and plug into it, then add wireless etc.

That's typical for here but I'd bet it's pretty rough heat for Maine.
I like the chairs,
I didn't think it got that hot this early in the year in your next of the woods
90’s happen, but usually they’re rare and only a day or two in august. This is an unusual year so far.
We're not rare on the 90's (they're not frequent though)but it's like you, usually late July and August.

HOLY MOTHER OF MERCY!!!!! Upper 90's for us is rare, and never this early. I think I've only seen 100's about 4 or 5 days in my life. If it happens, it's very late July or early August.

I have done this, but not proven anything as it seems to be intermittent. I bought some longer ethernet cables, so today when the next tech shows up I should be able to have the ability to test things fully.

Yeah, the truck thermometer was bouncing from 99 to 100 and I figured it was a fluke until the bank thermometer said 101. I think today is the last of the hot humid mess for a bit, hopefully, I have lots to do and that humidity kills my motivation.

The shop on the Hill is so sticky inside it isn't even funny, it is actually more humid in there than it is outside. I wanted to open the doors, but it looks like it might rain, tomorrow I will be opening it up to let the cool dry air back inside.

The internet is still functioning, I have not tried the wireless side yet, going to do that next.

My air conditioners from Home Depot left the Ohio fed ex facility, they estimate tomorrow still for delivery, but it looks like worst case they would be here Friday. Good timing as I would like to have one or two for this weekend, I bet it would take a couple days before all the buildings are back down to a normal temperature.

I also have to get over to the Salvage Garage and turn that AC on, that one stays on all summer, really helps keep the place dry and it is large enough that I can bump the temp down and feel a difference quickly.

This tech is more methodical, but not very friendly, if he makes it work I don’t really care, but he definitely doesn’t have the same social skills the other two techs had. The first thing he asks me after I explain what is going on “is this a business?”, other than the fact the spectrum would charge me a lot more for a business account, I don’t see what that has to do with anything? Anyways he looked over connections, cut some ends off, then scanned the system, then he put a piece of test gear on the inside cable (assuming it is a dummy load), then went outside to run some more tests. He also did something that I am not sure why he did it, but it looks like he installed a lock over the second output of the splitter, I will ask him at some point, but I will need to access that for my other system.

Agreed we don't see upper 90's that much if at all and it's never usually for that long of a stretch if we do.

Well it appears to be fixed, but I did have an issue with my main computer and it seems to be persisting. I can't fault them now as I have proven that things work the way they should with the laptop and phone over the wireless network and the main computer seems fine on a wired connection. Luckily, I was in process of swapping to a new computer, haven't started the actual swap, but the computer is here and waiting....

So it seems that things work fine until I try and upload any data, then the wifi card shuts off. It doesn't effect the bluetooth portion, I don't really care about trying to fix it, all the mid 2011s are getting sold as parts sooner rather than later. I will still have to use one for the shop on the Hill and one at the SG, can't justify the upgrade yet. Those can be run with ethernet if I have an issue anyways.

Jeez, I may have spoken too soon, the iMac that was having the issue seems fine after I rebooted it now. That would make me feel even better, that way I can blame the entire thing on Spectrum. ;)

One thing that I can see, the card in the iMac is not capable of the higher download speeds my other devices are capable of, it tops off at a bit over 200 mbps where the MacBook and my iPhone will hit about 480 mbps.

It is a proper terminator cap. Keeps un used terminals on the splitter from degrading the signal. The they are often locked or require a special tool is to keep people from easily tapping into the line and stealing cable.

I hope you have internet now. Do wonder why he did the lock out? CRS is setting in, what are the air conditioners for? I haven't got the multi-quote figured out yet, can you tell?

I hope you have internet now.

Still chugging away and no issues with the original iMac that I thought might have had a problem. :)

CRS is setting in, what are the air conditioners for?

Air conditioners are generally used to cool rooms when they get too hot, they also pull moisture out of the air, dropping the humidity level to make the space feel more comfortable.

I couldn’t help it.

I stole one from the house to use at the temporary office, so now the house is too hot, the office needs one just so you can work in there at all, then I need another one for the temporary office. Once the mini split is up and running in the new office, that AC will go to the camp, lots of shuffling!
