I decided to leave all the remaining snow, the ground is just too soft and I would make a huge mess of things, it looks like we are getting another storm on Tuesday, I most likely won't plow the quonset hut road after that either. We are trending towards fifties most days, so I suspect the snow won't survive too long and there isn't anything pressing (unless Dad wants to put a boat in the Quonset hut), so at this point less road destruction is my aim.
Yesterday I had some help and we setup the rotabin on the new pallet jack riser, had to put rubber in between the two, there was no friction and nothing was perfectly flat, so it would move around too easily. Hopefully the rubber solves that issue. Then we setup the second rotating thing, it has slats on four vertical sections, like a heavy duty store display. I had originally wanted to use some bins that I had, but apparently they did not actually fit and without major mods, there was no easy way to make them work. At that point we used some of the Milwaukee pack-out wall racks, it is a big waste of space, but it gets things out of the way for the time being. Also welded on some hangers for the belt grinder and grinding wheels, I want to live with it for a bit. After some time, more ideas will develop and I can add more hangers or other types of storage to it. The only issue is that I will most likely have to make another one similar to it for the Salvage Garage, also a smaller version for hammers and pry bars.
Doing those couple things gained more floor space and with a bit more cleaning I can see things shaping up fairly nicely. We went back and forth on what to do with the Lista Storage wall, there is a bit of a catch 22, if I don't build it all as designed, I don't have enough room to put all the drawers from all the current cabinets, this would make a mess that I can't recover from, there just isn't enough wall space to put al the cabinets. I will have to think about things a bit and regroup, might be that I just have to remove things from the shop at the Hill and bring them back to the Salvage Garage. My biggest issue is that I have no deep storage, since I do not have a forklift up there that can easily maneuver, I don't have any pallet racking and that is the biggest killer, I have tons of wasted vertical space. Even if I were to put a forklift in the shop, it really can't got from one bay to the other due to the 8" height difference of the floors.
I ultimately want the shop at the Hill to be for the vehicle/equipment repair (at least primarily) and the Salvage Garage can be heavy fabrication and storage. I would love to be able to marry those two setups together in one location, but at this point I have two obstacles, the Hill is the actual hill and the Salvage Garage is the door height, I think it is 11' 4" or maybe shorter, but I can't bring Perk inside or the FWD, or any of the box trailers. No matter what I inevitably run into an issue regardless of where I am.
