It made things easier having the treadle valve on the firewall versus under the floor. I am adding a brake controller, it converts air pressure to electric signal, this way I can have proportional electric braking for the electric brake trailers without having to worry about issues with gyroscopes and rough rides. I have to find the rest of my dash pieces before I can actually install the controller, it also needs a couple circuit breakers and a bit of wiring. The most painful part is going to be the actual trailer wiring output. I am going to make it so I have both 7 way RV and 7 round pin truck without dealing with my current adapter plug mess. It will have both styles at the rear and mid areas so either style trailer will hook up easily at either location.

I started looking over things and have decided I am going to ship more trailers to the auction. I don't have the time to be rebuilding things right now and they generally do well, especially in the spring. I would like to chop off a few parts and weld on some covers to clean things up, but I am not sure if I will have time. I need to concentrate on the "core" trailers that I use on a regular basis, unfortunately one of those is my rusty old dump trailer, but it is going to hang around for a while longer, it is my portable dumpster and it works flawlessly for that. ;)

At this point the trailers I am keeping are the two dump trailers and the air brake trailer, the other three are going away. I have to unload one of them, it has had steel on it for two years now, so I guess I can't say that I "need" it. At some point I would like to build a nice dump trailer that better suits my needs, just not this year.

I have the quonset hut opened up enough to get the forklift out, along with some other stuff that has to go to either the auction or the Salvage Garage. I am pretty well drained both physically and emotionally lately, hopefully I don't make any crazy decisions.

Great plan! Don’t let yourself get crazy about fixing the trailers too much. If you can but don’t let it keep you from doing other stuff that needs to be done.

This week is going to be a rough one, I have four doctors appointments and I am sure there will be other things that will pop up. I have to get stuff to the auction by Friday at the latest, otherwise you get too far down the list and prices plummet. I haven’t hardly started the office move, have less than three weeks to be functional up there. I am definitely going to be scrambling.

Except more like we are in the water, with bum appendages...

I had one appointment cancel on me, it was a remote appointment, but I didn't have a computer at the house, so I went to the Hill, they canceled at the time of appointment. :( Had I known earlier, I would have headed directly to the Salvage Garage instead, frustrating, but nothing much I can do about it now.

Chuck was happy, I got to feed him his smoothie and hang out for a bit, now I am trying to figure out what I can get done before the next appointment, I only have 40 minutes before I have to leave and I really don't want to get dirty.

I am almost done with today's trip to the SG, going to load the new F-350 wheels and tires. My Cousin is coming up to the Hill to help get the forklift up from the quonset hut, tomorrow is going to be the big day for getting things to the auction, then I should be able to finish things up on Thursday. Considering how the day started, I guess things haven't been too bad.

The F-350 tires and wheels were not only unseated from the beads, but there were no TPMS units, I explicitly asked about this before bidding on them as my bid would be based on paying an additional $450 for new ones and the installation. The seller now says that he didn't know they were removed and sorry.

I hate this $hit, it never fails. At this point I could have bought the fancier wheels and tires for the same money. :(

I also bought a school bus from a friend, let me have it...

I have politely asked for a refund of $252, the cost of the cheapest TPMS units and shipping that I can find online. We will see from there what happens, I have never had this happen with a freight shipping situation. The guy had a flat $199 shipping charge, but is now saying he paid $350 plus the packing materials (this is not my fault, he listed the shipping, not me). If he makes a reasonable offer, I will roll with it, I don't want to deal with repacking them and shipping them out any more than he wants to pay for them to be returned.

The school bus is an oddball, it is like one of my other trucks, a liquid injected propane 8.1 liter GM engine, running and driving. The main reason I would like it is that the chassis is not only rear air ride, but front air ride too. It would be the perfect chassis to build up for Bev. I don't want it hanging around for the winter, it would be another eyesore on top of the already big enough eyesore.

I just picked up some Kennedy rolling tool boards, I know, I know, but when I was assembling the rotating tool rack, I reignited my thoughts of one of these. I always wanted one for some of the more common used tools, I hate carts, because of FSD. No pictures yet, it was dark.

Up here I know of several retail propane pumps made for vehicles, where do you fill a propane bus up down there? Pain in the **** making a driving schedule up for propane so you don’t run out

There are a couple companies that will deliver to me, you just need the adapter. I am still on the fence about using the actual propane, things may get converted back to gasoline, it was cheap enough that I am not too concerned.

The eBay seller has gone quiet, I am going to give them a day, then contact eBay. Unfortunately for me all I have is the threat of a return at this point, the tires are getting installed this morning, I don’t have time to monkey around. I haven’t threatened negative feedback or anything like that, I am sure they are thinking about that too. I just need to find out if I get the return process started, what my options to cancel are.

On another note, Dad has decided that because all the videos and books are based on the windows versions of the CAD software, it makes more sense to buy a windows laptop. So now I have to buy one, otherwise there will be issues down the road that I won’t be able to solve and he will end up getting himself into trouble that will in turn make my life a pain.

I guess I need some suggestions on what to look for when buying a windows computer specifically for CAD, I will most likely use the 3D version of the program he is using, Dragtsight. The big thing I am not sure about is the video card and the ram, do you need a really high end card? Do you need more than 16GB of ram? Also I have $650 in Best Buy gift cards, so I would prefer to buy through them just to use that up. I have seen laptops from $500 to $4,000, the biggest jump in prices seems to be when you go to 32 GB of ram and get a “gaming ready” video card. I am not opposed to spend a decent amount, actually like the Microsoft surface laptops with the pen (that you buy separately), one of those fairly loaded is $2500ish, I can swallow that, but there are several other touchscreen options and I would like to have a touchscreen 2 in 1 style anyways.

You mean Draftsight, right?
Here's a link to their system requirements:

You can probably start at the lower end of the computer requirements. I have my doubts that your dad will use this very much, nor will he make large assembly models with hundreds to thousands of parts and features.
I run an older version of a professional CAD program on my personal laptop. I bought that laptop new specifically for CAD, and I think it was around $1200 new, that was 12 years ago.
I used to run CAD professionally for my day job, and we got into CAD models that had thousands of features to generate, that takes some serious computing power.
What will your dad actually model in the software? I'm guessing a few flat parts, simple assemblies, etc. You could probably get the minimum requirements, and he'd be more than fine with that. That's assuming he actually does the training and learns how to use the software vs giving up and calling it too complicated.

At this point, I have close to 25 years of running CAD on a professional platform. It is much harder to pick up a new software, particularly when older, so I have my doubts on how long he'll use this before giving up.

He already bought one for himself, I have no clue of the specs, but he will only be doing the 2D stuff, I have a 3D printer that it would be nice to be able to do everything on one computer. I will compare the specs, but the new video cards don't seem to be easy to decipher, there is no listing like a 2 GB or 4 GB video card, just the brand name and there golbydegook name for the card. I will have to do some we searches and see what pops up for info on them.

I think the ebay seller is going to step up and at least reimburse me for the TPMS sensors, I am headed to get the last lug nut at the local dealership for $9, honestly I expected it to be $25 or something dumb like that as it is from a King Ranch version of the truck.

Here it is 12:30PM and I still have not brought anything to the auction yet, I am going to try and haul the forklift over this afternoon, it is the most important thing to get over there anyways.

I have been out fumbled again, the grapple I was sending to the auction, well, I never looked at it, I was just told it was a non powered swivel. It is in fact a powered rotation, so I guess it stays for the time, I need something for the Mitsu and the price is right even if the rams or motor needs to be rebuilt. Now I am glad it didn’t go last year.

Going to chain the Cat V-80 down tonight so I can be off first thing in the morning. I did end up at the SG and I got the uprights cut off the torsion axle trailer. I still need to grind them and do a little primer, tonight I may unload some things, all depends on how late I get back there.

I forgot to post the tool board pics, so better late than never.

The purge is going to be fairly weak, I just don’t have the time or physical ability to bring everything over there. I am getting some bulky stuff that should bring decent money over there, so clean up and cash out. I really can’t spend any more time on the auction after today, maybe a load tomorrow morning, but even that is going to mess with things that need to be done so I can move forward with next week’s plans. Every time I touch something, I don’t want to get rid of it, but I am going to, I know I have a crazy project list and this will help offload some of that weight. That doesn’t make it any easier to deal with though. :(

This right there. I'm about the same, 20+ years on Creo, i was trained in Catia last year, i can barely use it. You get into a groove and it's hard to get out of it.

Dad doesn't remember things well enough to use the software, he also can't get that there are differences between the versions and he will spend many hours frustrated because either the computer or the software is "broken", except he is actually trying to open up a menu that isn't in existence anymore or do something his version can't do. I really can't even begin to explain it to him, so I just have to go through the cycles. I figure if I at least learn the software myself, it will be beneficial to me and I can help him a bit. This has been going on for months and he decided to buy a windows computer rather than try and learn to use it on his Mac, not sure how smart that will be as the other computer is going to present itself with all kinds of hurdles and learning curves.

I got the Cat V-80 over to the auction, I am bringing one trailer with some random things, then I have physical therapy, then I head to the Salvage Garage to unload and transfer stuff so I can try and get the other two trailers over to the auction today. After that, I am not sure how much more I really want to bring over, maybe a few things, they are taking stuff on Saturday, but it would have to be stuff I really didn't care about.

I don't know what that software costs, but i'd have a hard time paying real money for software that you're not sure you can pick up.

On another note, like an idiot, i logged into work email to find out we're transitioning to Siemens NX this year. So i'll have at least 3 CAD softwares under my belt ... wheeee....

Draftsight 2D version is under $300 a year, so nothing compared to auto cad itself. There are other programs that are cheaper, but I will not be able to get him to change, one of his YouTube heroes has said. That Draftsight is the “best”.

This afternoon has gone very sideways, I had to pickup some things I bought from the local brewery warehouse, my Cousin works there and he showed me some surplus stuff and I made an offer, they accepted. Now I own a portable dehumidifier and a couple forklift battery chargers. :(

I am going to try and get the torsion axle trailer over to the auction with some stuff loaded in it. I talked to my Brother about the grapple and he explained all the reasons that it needs to go to the auction. Glad I talked to him.
