Forklift needs four hydraulic hoses, had to order new lock rings for the tires, found some used tires that will work and have things set to install them next Thursday, E-Brake cables and handle have been installed, so it should be ready to go, well, still need to install new hinges and gas rams for the engine cover, but other than that, it needs everything.

I would have setup a fancy background if I had known I was going to get flack from the peanut gallery...

The idea is that I can use the portrait monitor (technically the computer) for excel or word files, like when I am working on my leases and other contracts. The ultra wide monitor is essentially two 27" monitors with no bezel, plus a bit of a curve. The screen is definitely not as nice as the iMac screen is, but it still looks crisp and clear. I can technically run another one if I want to, that would be excessive, or just right, not sure yet.

I am hoping it will make my life easier on that end, screen real estate is always a premium. I actually can’t wait to use it for real, been dreaming of something like this for a couple years.

Today’s big goal is to get the copier upstairs into the office, quite a bit of prep work before it can happen, should be doable, I have two people that can help.

This weekend has a pretty long project list, that will most likely get longer, that always seems to happen. Some of it is mission creep, but a lot of times there are just more steps to the process than anticipated.

Slow start this morning, I need to shuffle some things in the Quonset hut before I can take the little forklift away. Trying to waste the least amount of effort, but the last month has made a mess and now I have to deal with it.

Going to move the conex a bit as well, the side that runs along the rock wall is useless right now, but if I build a lean to off the side it will give me a bunch of storage space that would be pretty accessible if I do it properly. I need to move it before I start loading it up, also have to fix the roof, but that doesn’t need to be today, we have no rain in the forecast for over about a week right now.

First priority is get the Quonset hut so that I can use Clark to move all my stuff out and put it in the conex, second would be to get the small forklift up top so it can be used as the elevator for the office. Not having to carry all the boxes and stuff up the stairs will help my elbow significantly.

I hope to have the elevator in place by early afternoon, that should let me get the copier up there today and that will be a thing of beauty.

It was for a 10KW genset, so essentially the same thing. I am thinking a trailer for the porta-vet utility box. Seems to fit the bill, but there are a few issues, no rust though. Much better starting point than any of the other trailers I wanted to use.

Have things semi sorted in the Quonset hut, now Clark gets to haul things up top, as soon as things are out of the way, I can haul the elevator up and set that up.

Getting ready to move the copier, looks like it should work better than last time, I have a platform that gets us just above the threshold of the upper door and one that is just below the threshold at the house. That alone should make things easier, we will see.

The copier is up in the office, and still in one piece! I will have to hook it up tomorrow, I need to go to the Salvage Garage tonight so I can start measuring to see if my new trailer will work.

The trailer’s fenders are 2” too narrow to directly fit the porta-vet box.

Guess there will be some fabrication work, at least there is plenty of room to take an inch on both sides. I want to lift the box out and get a more accurate measurement, it is stuffed under the front of a trailer on a pallet and my forklift is, well, in pieces.

I won’t start messing with this until after I get the milking machine home. The trailer has hydraulic surge brakes, they work really well, right until you hit a bumpy patch of road while you are trying to slow down, then they are a jerky mess. I suspect they would do better with weight on the trailer, but I am going to look into swapping them to just electric, dexter makes some brakes that have a manual cable parking brake and I want to keep that feature for sure. Also going to have to put some more manageable tires on it, 37s look cool, but it sits too high.

Going to be a slow morning, I am beat from the last few days, but I feel like I have done stuff, rather than feeling like I am just spinning my wheels.

I guess it is going to be warm today, almost 90, I am not ready.

I am working on a few things in the office, then I need to move the Conex, then load it with things from the quonset hut and the shop. I am not sure how much shelving I am going to invest in yet, it is going to depend on how things look after I get everything in there. I also need to fix the roof, my heavy extension cord is in Bev over at the tower site, so I may have to wait until I get that. I should be able to weld it using the 120 volt side of the welder without any real issues, but I want my 10 gauge extension cord for that. Maybe they have a M18 welder or even better would be a bluetooth version.

I have done nothing so far today and it is 2:30 in the afternoon, need to get something done, something tangible anyways. I did do stupid things that didn't really help with my goals for today, but I guess I can at least say something was "done". I am going to try and move the Conex now, then bring the rest of the palletized stuff up from the quonset hut. I have to get some shelving, otherwise the Conex is going to get stuffed up way too quickly. The good thing is that even with the extra cost to move it and buying new shelving I will still have less money A lot less!) into the box than buying one from anywhere else. My Tuesday is going to be stuffed full of all kinds of things that I can't do on the holiday, so I would really like to get as much done as possible today and tomorrow. It is beautiful outside, warm temps, but not humid so I don't mind it that much.

I moved the conex, lined it up with the concrete slab, next I need to move some dirt and rock wall, then I can push it straight back another 15 feet or so. This will leave me with a bit more than 8’ to make a lean to, I think that will be the best solution, then I can keep a bunch of things under cover that don’t need to be inside, but I don’t really want totally out to the weather.

Just had a setback, yesterday I took the teeth off the Mitsu so I could install the homemade grading blade, except it isn't for this bucket and I don't have another bucket, I bet it went on the old backhoe Dad had. It is quite a bit too narrow and the welded on teeth don't line up. I put the teeth back on the bucket, now I will have to wait until Tuesday to see about parts to make one. I have a feeling I won't be able to make one as nice as I would like, seems like the "half arrow" cutting edge wear plates are hard to come by. I can Gump it up without one or maybe double up a cutting edge, but it will be a lot more work than if I can find the right piece.

I guess it is only an inch too short, but I have to cut everything off and weld in up in the proper positions, the corners are a bit rounded as well. I will wait until Tuesday, if I can’t get the half arrow style edge, then I will cut this one apart.

I think I figured out why it doesn’t fit this bucket, we rebuilt it in the late 90s and I bet Dad forgot he had this attachment plate, so the new shanks got welded where the guy thought they should be. Oh well.

Right now Clark has decided to die, it happened yesterday as well, after about 20 minutes it was fine again. I am figuring it either has to do with heat or the carb flooding things (or both?). I know it isn’t running right, it won’t stay idling and it smells rich, I have the carb kit, but I need the time to take the manifolds off and rework the exhaust too.

I just hate getting something stuck like this, as the forks settled down, one went under and the other went over, I can’t lift it without backing up because it is under the mast. I am going to chill out for a few minutes and see if it will start again. If not, well it might be the fifth piece of equipment on my list.

It is the fuel pump, now all I have to do is find the one I bought last time I thought there was an issue, I am not sure where it is. Think it might be at the Salvage Garage because that was where it happened and since I didn’t have to change it, I most likely left it there. Fingers crossed I can find it, I don’t need to spend another $100 on a pump and fittings.

I had a chance to tour the 911 memorial in NYC last week. Definitely worth the visit if anyone is going thru that area. Museum was well laid out and lot of exhibits describing the day(s) and the events leading up to it. The twisted 2" thick steel of the box beam was remarkable.

Clark started right up, pump is there but weak, going to replace it one way or another. I have it parked inside so I can work on the floor instead of the dirt.

Lists are good. Better than plans sometimes. If I get stuck on one thing, I just go to something else on the list. If I'm not checking stuff off, I need to get a more detailed list so I can take smaller bites of the elephant.

I have found that I tend to get too broad, so I need to work on breaking things down better. I have a notepad with a built in pen, when you pull out the pen, the pad is lit up. It stays next to my bed, so if I can’t sleep, I will start making lists. Sometimes I fill both sides of three or four note cards.

Dad said he was going to need the rack I borrowed, never even used it, it made things more difficult. Clark was all tangled up in it last night, but it is ready to go now.

Now I am watching a parade, not really, but I am stuck i traffic waiting for one to move on.

It took about 15 minutes to clear out, unfortunately I had the dump trailer, so by the time I figured out what was going on, I couldn't turn around. No big deal.

I am over at the SG and I found the fuel pump, gathering some other supplies now, then I am headed to Lowes to pick up some shelving, then back to the Hill. I should be able to get the Conex moved into place, then I can start assembling some of the shelving. I can deal with Clark either later tonight or tomorrow morning. I would like to have a little time to relax, if that is even a thing, I hear people talking about it all the time, just not sure I believe them.

I am going to have to spend some time sorting tools and organizing things at both locations, right now I have a mess everywhere. It is frustrating, but I created the problem myself.

Almost ready to leave the SG and head over to Lowe’s for the racking. Not looking forward to loading it, at least my elbow won’t be.

Found some foam filled tires for Clark for a reasonable price semi local. The rims will need to have new centers welded in, not the proper bolt pattern, but shouldn’t be too tough. Best part is that they will add a lot of weight down low, I think it will be 400 or 500 pounds per tire.

I am waiting for a forklift, all the racks are up top.

Added a good 30 minutes into my wait, but they did help me load the racks into the trailer, so I can’t ***** too much.

Now I have to decide if I am going to relax or not.
