Now we have a decent chance of thunderstorms in an hour or so, I have to get some stuff under cover, like a yo-yo, move it here, then there, then here.

He has some sort of neurological/muscular issue, it doesn’t seem to bother him, but I suspect it will end be a problem at some point. He has a very noticeable tremor or shake that happens frequently. It was always there, just more visible now, or more apparent anyways. Unfortunately there is nothing that anyone can really do about it, our state is not too kind with wild animals in this situation.

Chuck is a funny pet, he wants attention, but also doesn't.

This morning I went over to the tower site and picked up Bev, brought her back to the Hill so I could use the water tank for the pressure washer. Apparently I need a couple more IBC totes for water, all the ones I have either had oil in them or they don't have normal threads on the valves. I have help today, so I hope to have the Hyster back up and running, should be doable, we just need a few more parts and the crimp spec sheet for the hydraulic crimper. If they can't get us that today, we will have to have them make the four hoses up, either way, they will be done. My Buddy is pressure washing as we speak, once that is done, we will load up the new tires and the original hubs and head to the parts store, then the Salvage Garage.

The totes w/o pipe threads are usually set up for 2" cam and groove, I prefer them anyway. Cheap to make an adapter, easy to remove for transport and zero chance of cross threading!

These have a very corse thread, not pipe and no cam-lock. :(

I am sure someone makes an adapter for it, but these are old totes, probably 15 years old. I want to get some more that have the full plastic pallet bottom anyways, they won't rust from sitting on the ground like the steel pallet ones do.

Well, per usual, out fumbled myself. We forgot one thing, then two things, then needed one thing, then two things, so now we have to go get the Blurb, then go back to the Hill, then to my Buddy's shop to get an axle socket and seal driver kit. I am hopeful that the rest of the day will go a bit better, but...

We are going to try and make up a hydraulic hose, if we have issues, then we will go and get a bit of training. I think we should be good, scratch that, I hope we are good. ;)

We got things figured out with the crimper, we made a sacrificial one to have the hydraulic hose place look at. The rear forklift tires I bought are six lug and the ones on the Hyster are only five lug, so no go on those.

It's a shame that they take that attitude but I'm sure a number of people think they're going to be saviors of wildlife and it goes haywire.

We rescued 3 baby hummingbirds once. We found a wildlife rehabber who took them in. She was amazing. Her whole house was setup to deal with them. She had different areas for them as they grew so they could eventually learn to be hummingbirds and be released. She said that when they're young (and dumb), if you put them on a perch not facing the food, they'd starve. She imported special food from Germany. We left the babies and gave her $100 to help with her expenses.

She related a story about a woman who called her for advice about a hummer they found. The rehabber told her to bring it to her. "But, my son thinks it's so cute and we want to keep it. We've been feeding it honey." (as I recall). Rehabber said "I bet it's having convulsions, etc.". Yep, sure was. "But, my son wants to keep it". Jeesh lady.... Keep it till it's dead which will be pretty darn soon. Stupid people.

I have spoken with a rehab lady about Chuck, she is my backup plan, but even she said that there isn’t really anything that could be done for the tremor issues, she is trying to get approved for a “non-releasable” permit, that would allow her to essentially keep certain animals like Chuck. At this point we just plan on giving him the best and most time possible, he wouldn’t have even lived if he hadn’t found me that day.

Teeth to match!

Hyster needs hydraulic lines and some filter/fluids changed. I am not sure if I will have it done this weekend or not. I am headed to pick up the foam filled tires tomorrow, that will waste most of the day. I went to pickup a tool cart for future hydraulic hose assembly. It will only be 16 to 20 weeks before I can take delivery of my crimper. :(IMG_5331.jpeg

The box is fairly well stocked with nice old tools, total mismatched stuff, but lots of USA made goodness, even the vise is USA made. Unfortunately the wheels are less than optimal, something got messed up at some point and only three wheels actually touch the ground, then the "fixed" wheels are welded swivel casters and they were not welded parallel. I will be making adjustments as I go, for now I need to head back to the Hill and see if I can get the Blurb running well enough to go road tripping tomorrow. I am a bit anxious as my only other rides are Bev or the Ramp truck and Bev would be with the dealer registration only, the Ramp truck has no current inspection and it gets about 10 MPG with a 15ish gallon tank.

Between yesterday and today, I have given up for the weekend. I am rescheduling the road trip and I am cleaning up the shop tomorrow. I can’t find the power steering pulley puller and I am running out of steam already. I know what will happen if I pull an all nighter and then drive 8 hours tomorrow, not going to do it. I am going to tie up all the loose ends this week, it should be doable as long as I don’t start any new projects. I have to be a bit realistic, I am not in my twenties anymore.

I know, I know.

I am sorry to disappoint everyone that wants to see me run myself into the ground.

;)

Tomorrow I am going to change the fuel pump on Clark, then bring there Blurb inside and start working on the crank sensor replacement. Monday I am going to try and get to the Salvage Garage and make the hydraulic hoses for the Hyster forklift, will most likely wait to do the fluid changes, for peace of mind, I need to get it out and drive around to see if the taller tires effect things negatively.

I am not sure what he did, he might have put everything inside the paint booth.

I just got the tech to help me setup the copier with the other computers, there were a couple settings I didn’t understand. At least now I know how to do it, next step is to get the repair guy up here so we can figure out what is going on with the power supply. It buzzes at the copier and inside the panel at whatever breaker it is currently hooked to.

Dad is back on the blame game, the entire office is my fault, he thinks we have too much money into it, he said I overbuilt the space and it took way too long. I got a bit mad and reverted to the "You don't remember", he said that is always what I say and that any changes that were made were from me "convincing" him to do them. So now I know that even if we write things down or do text/email, the party line will be you "convinced" me to do it. Not really sure if there is anyway to combat this, if he can only remember things the way he wants to remember them, how do I deal with that? I am not even sure he remembers that "his" contractor only worked on weekends and that he broke his leg and stopped working for almost 6 months. I am so tired of being the one to take all the blame, very frustrating.

I think the only way to actually deal with this would be to record interactions, not really sure how that would go during playback though. Our interactions in note format could and would be taken out of context, I went through this in a very minor way with my Grandfather (Dad's Dad).

The only way I got my dad to stop this behavior was disengage for long enough that he saw several times same behavior without me being around. That largely stopped it

Today he said to me that I always tell him "you don't remember", he just thinks it is me trying to blame him. If everyone else that noticed it would quit being an enabler and just tell him the same thing, maybe it would help him to realize it isn't just me. I won't have the option to disengage that long. :(
