I feel for you Strouty! My and my father's relationship wasn't a whole lot different, all I can suggest is a last choice option, disengage and let it be, then his routine could be "everybody is against me" and it will still be your fault as you will have planned the whole thing! Best of Luck, and try to not make it personal, this is likely his own insecurities at play. Alzheimer's is a strong possibility given his lifelong career [Aluminum is higher in concentration in Alzheimers patients so some heavy metal connection is a concern YMMV] not to mention all of the RF radiation you guys are subjected to. Dad is back on the blame game, the entire office is my fault, he thinks we have too much money into it, he said I overbuilt the space and it took way too long. I got a bit mad and reverted to the "You don't remember", he said that is always what I say and that any changes that were made were from me "convincing" him to do them. So now I know that even if we write things down or do text/email, the party line will be you "convinced" me to do it. Not really sure if there is anyway to combat this, if he can only remember things the way he wants to remember them, how do I deal with that? I am not even sure he remembers that "his" contractor only worked on weekends and that he broke his leg and stopped working for almost 6 months. I am so tired of being the one to take all the blame, very frustrating.
Sorry fella

Fat fingers , didn’t mean to “like “ your post.
Your troubles with your dad seem tiring and not a little upsetting.
I do follow along and you sure do cram plenty of hours into your day, it’s a new day tomorrow with new opportunities, good luck with it all.

The way things are going, he will probably outlive me. :(

I haven't thrown in the towel yet, I feel it won't be until later this year before I will actually be to the point that I won't be as stressed about the office and things. I am slowly gaining on things, if he can leave me alone for a little bit it would be nice, but the dock is going to add a couple days worth of effort onto my plate. I shouldn't say days, but it always seems that I can't make things work around my schedule, so if I work on the dock from 9 to 3, it really does ruin my day, plus with my elbow, doing too much in one day is trouble for the next couple days. Today I was hanging out at the office so I could get the copier dealt with, the tech support guy came through, but the repair guy left me hanging. Now it is 5 and I am not super interested in working in the shop, I just want to go home. I may go and hang out with Chuck for a bit, but I really want to get home at a reasonable time and get to bed at a reasonable time, has been about midnight the last few nights and I am getting up after my GF, so I can't get an early start to the day. Sometimes not getting out of the house early, turns into no productivity.

I still haven't found my puller for the power steering pump, so I am either going to have to buy one or borrow one. I need the Blurb fixed, I can't drive more than about 10 miles before the crank sensor acts up, then the timing is way off and the engine is loud with limited power. Not something you want to be driving very far.

This is what happens, now it is 7:30 and I am still at the Hill. Just figured out what pieces/parts I need to make the new mirrors for the Army dump fit the existing structure. I hope it works the way I want, we will find out. It is going to get used at my Buddy's house in a few weeks and I want it so when you open the doors, the mirrors don't get slammed into and need to be adjusted every time. For the amount of effort that went into these trucks you think they could have designed them to accept regular mirrors, you can't buy the original ones anymore and all the ones I have found are either crazy stupid money or just won't fit properly. At least doing this should allow for a regular mirror to fit pretty easily. If I like the mirrors I can buy more for a reasonable price as surplus from the military. The frames are the main issue at this point, the mirrors won't swing inside the hoop, so you have to put them out too far. I can get tiny mirrors to fit, but then you would have to adapt them anyways, so I want to make the bigger ones fit.

You aren’t supposed to load the entire tree.

Changed the crank position sensor on the Blurb, then you have to reset things for the computer to relearn things. In order to do that, the operating temp needs to be at 174 degrees, otherwise it doesn’t take. Well now I know that the second set of thermostats are stuck open, at least partially, couldn’t get it above 145 degrees. I suspect that the thermostats are full of anti seize just like last time. Have to deal with that tomorrow.

Also got the hydraulic lines on the Hyster done, except one that wasn’t originally planned to be replaced, I need some more fittings for that. Getting closer one step at a time.

This one is on me, thermostats we’re in backwards, I am willing to bet the previous owner had them the same way, I feel dumb that I never checked orientation, the thermostats even say toward radiator with an arrow on them. I am not sure how we ever got it up to temperature to do our recalibrations before, maybe when they were new they would function somewhat? I know the thermostats were one of the first things that I did (apparently wrong too), then injection pump, then radiator. Hopefully this will solve a lot of issues, still not sure how the mileage has suddenly increased by 4 MPG, running at 140 should make mileage worse. There wasn’t any neversieze in the thermostats this time, so we have made some progress. ;)

Things were going well until I adjusted the rear brakes again, this time the passenger side decided to tighten up as I went and it smoked the drum again. I hate these particular brakes, nothing but trouble, never, ever had so much trouble with drum brakes, I mean ever. :(

Strouty I have for the last 5-10 years been drilling a 1/8" hole in all of my thermostats to make it easier to bleed the air out during initial fill ups. That and then at least some water will always flow, little as it is. This is just a little something for your possible consideration. Harry

The housing has a bleed screw already, essentially exactly what you suggested, so GM wasn't totally dumb. ;)

On top of all this, I have a bent rim, we got it balanced well enough to go on the rear, but I need to order a few more rims.

On a bad note, I think I chipped the "good" elbow a few weeks back on the tower, I slammed it off a bolt that was sticking out way too far. It has been bugging me pretty bad the last couple days, today it was horrible, can't wait to see how it feels by next week.

Blurb appears to be as ready as I can get it. Will fuel up before leaving so I can get a decent idea of fuel economy or lack of. I can’t leave until about 11AM, so I am going to do a few things in the morning before I leave. I was hoping to get there and back fairly early so I could load up Perk and be ready for the CNC mill, I don’t think I will have time in the morning, so Saturday may end up being a late night.

Been going over my list, have to gather a few things, then I can start working on loading up for tomorrow’s adventure. My goal today is to get the foam filled tires, then go to the Salvage Garage, grab Bev, head to the Hill, then take Perk (hopefully loaded) back to the SG, finish loading the Hyster, then head home. Should be doable, just depends on what evils Murphy tosses my way.

Thanks, I think I have shaken out all the bugs so far. I am bringing tools and supplies so if I have a problem, I should be able to get myself out of most things.

I have a quick modification to the rear interior of the Blurb, trying to make the Milwaukee pack out stuff fit better. Eventually I will do a complete rebuild of the interior, not sure if it will be with the Blurb or another one.

Back at the Salvage Garage, tomorrow’s trip was cancelled by the seller, I didn’t mind one bit, just wish I had known earlier, I would have stayed longer at the first seller’s place. I may end up back there, he has some other goodies. ;)

Today I went to get some foam filled tires for Clark, ended up with some other miscellaneous stuff and then I think there are a couple other things I may go back to get. He has a diesel air compressor and a continental F series engine that is in great shape. I also got some NOS Mack bits and pieces. I have no idea what the roundish steel ball is, maybe some sort of buoy or something? The tires are actually closer to 700 pounds he said, I will have to weigh one to confirm. On a great note, the Blurb made it down and back, 400 miles and I got 16.2 MPG combined. I don’t think that is too bad at all, averaged 70 MPH.

The guy was impressed that I knew what it was. I am thinking art. I really wanted the ball, but I had to feel him out on prices before I made an offer.

It might be 70 pounds, maybe less.

Next problem with the Blurb, low coolant light was on this morning, no big deal, I would figure after just refilling and then taking a trip it would get low. Well, it is a coolant leak with the rear heater line. I am trying to get the fitting off now, it looks like it may just be an O-Ring, but I bet it will end up turning into a project.....

I have several different quick connect tools, apparently just not the correct one. I may go over to the Salvage Garage and see if I have one over there, meanwhile, I ordered a full kit that has the proper one in it. Needless to say, today didn’t turn out to be productive at all. :(
