Sorry I have been neglecting everyone, I was over hanging out with Jackstand for a while.
I did make a deal on the big forklift, it isn't rated quite as high as anticipated, but close. It will pick 27,850 pounds 24" on center up to 160" high. It has a Detroit 4-53 diesel engine with a 3 speed automatic transmission. Side shift works, brakes are a bit touchy and will stick if you jam them on, main ram leaks a little and only one of the tilt cylinders functions (the other is disconnected). The one tilt cylinder that works needs to be rebuilt as it has been overloaded a few too many time (been doing the work of two rams for a while), it bypasses fluid and the mast tilts forward pretty much instantly. I ended up paying $9k for it, I think that is a great deal for a lift this size, the tilt cylinders will both get rebuilt ASAP, the main lift cylinder isn't that bad, I left the forks up in the air and they didn't appear to move for the 20 minutes I was there looking everything over. There are a few other things that will need to be addressed, nothing major.
The bad news, the heavy duty electric forklift has a junk battery, it has voltage, but has no capacity. I will continue on with the original plan of scraping what I don't need from it. I am going to measure my Dad's trailer and see if it will work, he says I can use both the truck and trailer to pick it up.
