If he had talked to me, ten minutes and he could have had it tucked off to the side, instead he blocks everything, including the part of the sander I will need. Whatever, I took the part of the sander out and put it in the Ford, I just can’t understand why Dad can’t discuss things, he does all this **** and is just shooting himself in the foot. If he had not started being boats over here so early, I would have had almost everything cleaned up, instead he just makes it so you can’t move anything. The other day I needed the pallet jack and it was trapped behind two boats, almost couldn’t get it out, but I made it happen. That was so he could get at the wood chipper, I am still not sure if he actually winterized the inboard engine, I would check, but he has all the boats covered with tarps too. I think that will make a great place for the mice to hide. ;)

Best part is that I need to take the plow off so I can replace a u-joint on the Ford, wanted it inside on a nice flat surface so it will hook up nice when I need it again, nope, there isn’t even enough room for the plow. I guess I am going to modify a pallet to fit it, it will sink in the mud anywhere else, at least anywhere out of the way. Frustrated all around.

Tomorrow I hope to be able to move the Boston fire truck, then I can move the remaining two forklifts in front of the fire trucks. I would have done it today, but the batteries are down too low. I think I might have to rework the battery cables a bit as well, they need to be easily disconnected on both positive and negative sides, not really sure how, but it will start without any of the ground cables hooked to either battery, we call it the immaculate connection, no offense intended. I have cheap disconnects, but they get messed up and don’t allow full power to make it to the starter. I really just need to tear the truck down to the parts I want, but it is nice that I can move it around.

The way i read his behavior is he's all about himself, you are not his partner, you are his employee. No consideration for the team. He would have gotten fired from any modern job. Everything now is about teamwork.

Trade some of your stuff for some 4 post lifts on casters. Put the boats up on the lifts and use the unused ceiling height. Park stuff underneath the boats
That'd be one tall 4 poster to clear the loader. And you know his dad would stack tons of engines blocks, or something under the lifts, then demand what's on the furthest one.

I am headed to the Salvage Garage to move a few things around, looks like Saturday is going to be 50 with rain again, also looks like it will end early afternoon, my plan is to let all the equipment sit, then if there is any snow/ice left after that, I will clear everything off. So far the only real snow left is on the trailer decks and where the bankings are from plowing. After Saturday it goes back to cold and later in the week, snow. I believe that I will actually be ready and the snow won’t mater nearly as much to me, still have to clear equipment off, but only a couple pieces compared to just about everything. Tomorrow is going to be a busy and long day trying to get the rest of the prep done at the Hill.

Also had an issue with Baker, forward and reverse stopped working, I guess I have to leave the lid open from time to time, there are several shiny copper wires that are not going to be easy to repair either. Worst part is, I have yet to find a decent manual that shows the electrical portion of these, actually the worst part is that I scrapped another one that I really should have harvested everything out of it, oh well, live and rationalize never getting rid of anything again, isn’t that how it goes?

I got the 3 axis Bridgeport swapped into place, the two axis is where I can do the upgrades so it can be sold. I figure that will happen by about 2025…

Things were tight for sure, if I hadn’t been lazy and just flipped the head it would have been easier, but who likes easy? I am currently unloading the yellow tool cart so I can get it loaded in the truck so it can go to the Hill, should see more use there, honestly should have never brought it to the Salvage Garage anyways, live and learn. I also installed a Lista drawer in the original unit at the SG, it wasn’t able to fit at the Hill, so no sense in storing it.

At the Hill, going to work in the office for a little bit, then unload the Ford, need to rework the battery cables on the Boston fire truck and get that moved, then I can start working on moving the two forklifts, one should be relatively painless, the other needs some fuel lines reworked. I am trying to figure out what equipment should be at the Hill versus the Salvage Garage. At this point I am leaning towards the Mitsu and the army dump at the SG, I need to do some work on the Mitsu and it is better suited to be done over there anyways. The only issue is that once the equipment is there, it will be stuck there until after the road postings are removed in the spring. Need to give it some thought, I can use the equipment at both places, but the repairs are probably more important to do than anything else.

I am just not going to worry about it for now. I don't have anything in the quonset hut, he has been tripping me up and it really only messes him up in the end. I knew it would be this way when he started bringing boats over in late September. I will keep plugging away with my own mess.
That right there is the solution.

My Dad is getting so annoying, I am not answering his calls until next week. He has sent me emails about weeds at one of the tower sites, customer complained, this is one of the many things that I want to deal with on a regular basis, but he doesn't want to spend the money when it comes time to actually do it. Yesterday he asked me to find him fancy rims for his new truck, I told him that I have been looking and should be able to find new take off rims and tires. As soon as he heard tires, he freaked out and said he wanted the same size rims so he can use his current tires, the entire point was to get summer tires and winter tires, nope, not happening. He called me this morning to inform me he bought brand new rims on Amazon. He also bought chrome tube steps that fit an extended cab and made them fit a regular cab because he was too cheap to buy the ones that fit from GM. I am pretty sure he will be building a rack out of 2 by 4s next.

Bought a brand new HD truck and yet can't afford the proper side steps? :lol_hitti

If I don’t have a deal in place that helps to “calm” me by May, I won’t be here much longer anyways. Unfortunately I have tied myself into the company mess that I still have to deal with things, I can set a schedule though and make it so I ignore everything outside of that schedule just like the majority of regular employees would.

My Brother thinks that Dad will never put the deal into writing, if that is the case, I am not staying. It will be a pain to move everything, but I will do it. I don’t think Dad thinks I will. The toughest part will be Chuck, I will need to make a space for him, but I even have a plan for that.

Removed the cheap disconnects from the batteries, Boston fire truck started no problem. I think they just needed to be cleaned, but I am just going to disconnect the batteries completely, that way they can’t be drawn down by the truck at all. Next order of business is the two forklifts next to the stonewall, hopefully they will run and be able to drive enough to get them in place.

Got the Boston fire truck up out of the way, not exactly how I wanted it, but there is enough room to get a Burb in front of it. I am going to do some inside work now, the sun is dropping making it feel much colder. Tomorrow is supposed to rain, then end around lunch with temps in the 50s, so I will get both forklifts moved then. Also. Thinking at this point that the right thing to do is just leave the Mitsu at the Hill and see how things go, I might be able to do the repairs here, all depends on a dozen other things that may or may not happen.

I also unloaded all the wire from the back of the 3500, I need to sort it out, some wire is worth prepping, other wire is just going as is. I have a lot more larger wire that needs to be stripped, but for now just getting this into a few manageable bins would be good enough.
IMG_0048.jpeg

Then I wanted to see if I could get a pallet into the little garage addition on the house, it looked like it would be tight, but the military forklifts have a lot of free lift and the mast is super short, the entire forklift is short.

IMG_0049.jpegIMG_0050.jpegIMG_0051.jpegIMG_0055.jpeg

This is great, I can bring the totes of water inside there. I took some measurements and it appears that if I cleared out the area I could actually park the forklift in there. I may actually end up doing that, then it will always be ready to go. I would have to deal with the lawn mower, but the rest of the stuff isn’t a big deal.

Today I am inheriting lots of rain, better than snow, but honestly I would prefer winter to just make up its mind. The only good thing is that I will have moved almost everything to a location where it is out of the way for plowing, so that is a good thing overall. The bad part is you can't plow mud quite as easily.

Going to do a couple errands, then go to the Salvage Garage, drop a few things off, pick a few things up, then get some batteries for the military forklifts. I did my measurements last night and without some major mods, two group 31 batteries are just not going to work. I can fit two very common group 24 batteries in there, then I will have space to add a float charger and the disconnect switch all inside the battery box, so I guess that is a good thing. Probably enough room to keep an emergency can of ether too...

The rain has stopped, it is about 50 out, wish it was dry, could get some things done outside.

I have been trying to find the service manuals to the Mitsu, I am 90% sure that I have them, just can't find them anywhere. I have spent a few hours looking with no luck. The only one I can find for sale on eBay is $400 and that is on the very high end for a manual. I figure another couple hours of looking and the $400 would be cheap. ;)

I am staying at the Hill, going to work on the shop a bit, I need to get some more room in here, I have two many projects that need the lift for days, so I really need the other bay cleared too. Let's see what we can get done (me, myself, and I), I have been stuck mentally and I think the shop has been a big part of it.

I remember why I got stuck, there are wayyy too many drawers to fit in the space that I have, seriously, I am probably over drawern on my account by about 50 drawers. Unfortunately more than half of those are full of stuff that I don’t have a home for. I guess I have to do a bit of creative decision making, it is so much easier when the stuff you are storing isn’t slapping you upside the head. :(

I really need to get the tall Lista storage wall cabinet out of the lift bay, then I think I might have to temporarily install it at the Salvage Garage so I don’t have a massive amount of drawers to store, they take up a lot of room when you can’t use them for stuff.

That will teach me (probably not), guess I should have looked at the radar, I decided since it was so warm I would try and get the last forklift moved. I had my air compressor, gas tank, booster pack, supplies, and tools out, just get the forklift started and it starts pouring, won't stay running, pick up everything as fast as I can. Now I am soaked, forklift is in the same spot and I haven't done anything to speak of inside. Luckily I have a spare sweatshirt, but I did get soaked so I suspect I am not going to stay at the shop too long because of that.

It is better now, but the truck is just a moving spare engine.

I am going to get things started so that we can work on the driveway, honestly not sure how well we can fix it, going to depend on how the snow/ice embankments do. I think that it might be best to just put rock into some of the worst parts and see what happens. It is a good 8” deep in a lot of areas and crosses the road in several places. It should be fun.
