Going to take the Blurb for the first leg of the test drive, I expect to know pretty quick if there are any major issues. I do think I have a bit of an exhaust leak, so the crossover pipe may not have been seated properly. My back was killing me when I did that, the Blurb was at a good height for my Buddy not me...

The Burb is officially a parts truck, not going to do anything else to it, trans is not going to be with us much longer. Oh well, life goes on, there are far too many other things it needs to make it worth putting a rebuilt trans in it. I am going to see about the Volvo XC70 next, I think I can get that functional, minus the AWD part, but at least it will be wheels. It does smell like a mouse nest, so that will be fun. :(

I am going to have to figure things out as I will need a truck soon, preferably not one as big as Perk. If the Volvo can be used, I can rip into the 3500 and get the exhaust fixed, still have to deal with the bed, might have to buy a flatbed to get me by. Almost everything else is just a creature comfort or cosmetic after that.

I have also decided that I will pay my Dad’s ransom to rent the Hill for the time being, if I don’t, it is clear that I won’t be able to get anything accomplished this year. Frustrating, but slightly less frustrating than trying to move everything in a few months. :(

This morning was the worst driving I’ve seen all winter. Just came back thru Bangor and 95 is a parking lot , multiple tractor trailer’s still off road between exits 185,186 and 187, glad I knew and pulled off before there.

That ***** about the Burb, but at least that is one question mark that is now settled.

This was my thought, I have been spread too thin and by making this decision I can at least move on.

Saturday we are supposed to get some nasty snow, I am not sure if I have ever mentioned that I hate snow...

I am not sure I am going to do anything as prep for this storm, the ground isn't frozen and we are supposed to be back in the high 30s and low 40s next week. I think I would end up doing more damage than anything. I also have plenty to do in the office, I have one week before Dad heads out for the month and there are plenty of loose ends to deal with.

I am currently freezing my rear off inside the Salvage Garage, stopped in to eat lunch on my way back from picking up a hydraulic valve setup that I am hopeful will work on the Muv-All trailer, they have both manual levers and 12 volt solenoids for a future wireless remote. :)

Looks like it is a Green/Parker setup, I should be able to find out more next week. Should be a good upgrade, even has the extra valve so I can use it for the bigger winch I plan on installing on the upper deck. Loading and unloading will be much easier with a remote, some of the trickier stuff I had to do with two people will be a one person job after this install.

We'll probably end up with about 5"-6" of the fluffy white stuff before it turns to rain. Supposed to be 50 tomorrow. Mud anyone? Seems like the Blurb news is actually a blessing, one less big project to deal with. Scrap it and run. Should be able to scrap it in two days.

The engine is essentially new, the frame is in very good condition, body is too. I have installed upgraded stereo and speakers, tires and wheels will go on the 3500. I will have to figure it out, it still moves under its own power right now, so I won't tear it apart until I am ready.

If the Blurb is that nice, then get someone to rebuild the trans, fix the coolant issue, and be done with it. There has to be someone in Maine who is good mechanic. You really do need a reliable vehicle that is capable of towing "heavy" stuff, and I don't think the Volvo has that capacity.

^^^ this.

Don’t want to spend the money. Find someone who might be interested in trading work for one of your project pieces or maybe a forklift.

It isn’t as simple as just those things, it needs a more rebuild, you fix the obvious and something else will happen, I have been chasing things since I bought it.

The Blurb has to be fixed because of love, not necessity.

I think this may be the year to get rid of one of the willow trees, they look nice when they are younger and maintained, but this particular one should have been cut down long ago. The other one isn’t too bad, these types of storms always hurt the pretty trees, like birch and willows.

He is already too busy.

I got the generator to the house, had to make a suicide cord setup so I could back feed power through the extension cord I use to plug my block heater into. Our battery backup sump wasn’t working, so basement flooded, been cleaning that out for a while, I have the furnace and the fridge going right now, probably good for tonight. I can see I need to either install a full backup generator or at a minimum a manual transfer switch/plug setup. We don’t usually lose power this long, but there are about five places within a quarter mile of the house that trees have ripped all the wires down. :(

We got an update on power, the power company is estimating sometime Wednesday. I bet a lot of people are not going to be happy. I am going to get some more gas for sure, it is supposed to rain for a few days and I am not interested in dealing with a flooded basement again. Not sure if the local boat supply place is open, but I think I need to get a 12 volt backup pump working.

A bit annoying that not having power made so much more work, plus the loss of time that I should have been doing something else...

Eh, just be glad you had some equipment ready to go, and that it came back on fairly quickly. You'd really be in a pickle if it didn't come back on until Wednesday.
We had some rain/ice/snow yesterday, and people north of us lost power. Fortunately, we did not lose power.
