That is such an apples to oranges comparison. credit cards require a social security number. Facebook is a social media site.
Not only did you disagree with a policy but you went ahead and made a new account. GENIUS!!!

Luckily for my situation, they only have an old tax ID and it is not a personally secured card, that is why I am not too worried about waiting for a letter.

The sliding dividers will also get used, the blue bins can be corralled then the remaining space can be used for something odd shaped.

IMG_0161.jpeg

Just have to unload four boxes of them.

These are what the new steel bins look like folded up. I have not figured out what I am using them for yet, got to do a bit of head scratching. IMG_0156.jpeg

I've heard a bit about Synchrony bank lowering card limits when a large chunk is applied to the amount owed. They may be tightening things up in this booming economy we are in.

I am sure they hate me, they were giving 60 days no interest on any purchase over a couple hundred dollars. I would buy gift cards and have over 60 days to pay for things with no interest. I would guess that I have paid almost no interest over the 17 years I had the card. I seem to remember them doing something else a while back that irked me, I am going to make one more call to close the account, I would assume they would have to give me the payoff amount then?

IF the bank gets too pissed that can boomerang on you. The facts you’ve provided here can be twisted into claims of personal civil and/or criminal liability. No security or personal guaranty is not a defense to such claims. Save yourself the hassle: pay em off!

I was just making the point that a missed payment wasn’t going to hit my credit report, so it didn’t really bother me to wait for them to send me a notice. I would assume that they have to send something out, they sent me the “fraud” letter by snail mail.

Got everything done with Dad, he now has a chunk of his neck removed, a frozen off something or other on his cheek, a cauterized thing on his head, and a biopsy of another thing on the other side of his neck. He is supposed to lay low for a week, we will see how much of a pain that is for me. ;)

My latest hard drive acquisition was supposed to not power on, it had a crack in the case, so I figured it had been dropped. I paid good money for it, but I was banking on the hard drives still being OK. I got it and decided to test it, I am pretty sure that the pawn shop didn’t hook it to a computer, if they had, it would have turned on. ;)
If it doesn’t have the data cable hooked up they do not turn on, but the case has some damage for sure, I have taken some of it apart, going to have to go in deeper and tweak it back into shape. The fans currently scrub on the housing and make a racket. Shouldn’t be too hard to get it back into shape, a little tweaking, a little glue, will definitely be worth it.

I got the frame bent back fairly well, unfortunately most of the steel was put together with some type of system like a rivet, but it was just a hole punched through two pieces of steel that flared out to keep them together. I wasn’t about to pull all that apart so there is still a crease where I couldn’t bend it, but it sits level and everything bolted back up. I couldn’t find my super glue, I am sure I have some, somewhere, but I am just going to buy some more tomorrow morning, then I can get it back together. I have nine 18 TB hard drives and two of these cases (technically 3, but selling one), I think I will buy one more matching drive, then each one can have five drives, that will give me two RAID 5 setups with 72 TB of usable space leaving one drive as a redundant failsafe. That should allow me to backip most all of the media I have, it also gives me room for expansion down the road.

The issue with the fan was the cable clip, it wasn’t hooked to anything and was touching one fan blade. It was also very clear that someone else had already been inside the unit as there was some tape that was torn and not from the drop.

Dang Marketplace, got me again.

One of the forklifts I bought last year was from an estate, they had some other things that weren't ready to be sold. One was a smaller tilt trailer and it just popped up for sale. I sent a message and they remembered me, said they would hold it for me, she was glad to have me buy it as they had lots of messages about it and it had only been listed for 45 minutes. I am glad too, if it won't meet my needs, someone else will pay me more than I am paying for it. I don't have any small trailers like this, so it should be a good fit for me. I already have someone that will buy it if I change my mind, so I can't lose. I will be curious to see if it is what I remember, or if I am being too optimistic...

Trailer in question, picking it up tomorrow morning.

Got the hard drive mostly assembled, waiting on some this double sided tape to hold the trim panels on, I had really skinny stuff, originally had 1” wide, should be here next week. At least it isn’t in pieces everywhere, going to put the panels back on just to keep track of them.

Almost have full access to the boats, need to get the sander on a pallet. I would like to make a metal pallet for the sander and the plows, then get them galvanized so they will be useful for a long, long time. Every where I look there is more stuff to do, got to work on the blinders or I will go mad. :(

Our recycling center gets some very heavy duty plastic pallets from time to time. I think they’re rated for 5 tons so not flimsy. Some kind of polymer.

Unless I build something that really captures the plow or the sander, it isn’t fun going from the Quonset hut to the upper part. I usually take the sander out up top, pressure wash it while it is vertical, then put it in the Quonset hut. The plows aren’t as bad, but I would like to setup a pallet rack for them and it would be nice to know that if you aren’t perfect, the blade isn’t going to end up on the ground unexpectedly. The other good thing about making ones for the plows, when you take the blade off, it will go right into this cradle and it should make reinstalling it on the truck easier too, especially when the ground is soft.

Honestly, making these have been on the list for a long time, if I do this, it is done and I won’t have to do it again, at least not for the regular plows, if I get into bigger ones, all bets are off.

I have a bunch of things that have to be galvanized anyways and I need to get back in the groove, doing some simple stuff that isn’t super structural is a good way for me to refresh a bit. Plus as I am cleaning up the shop to make room for this stuff to be fabricated, I am gaining on that side as well.

I am not sure how much I mentioned this, but it looks like by the end of the summer I will have help pretty much every Friday and Saturday. I really need to get things organized for that, so doing all this stuff is not a waste of time. Once I have help, doing this stuff is not only a waste of time, but also an expense. I would rather use the help to do actual mechanical repairs rather than the dub stuff that I have to do for the shop to function smoothly. Once this happens, then projects will start to get done, I am really looking forward to that part.

And I am trying to make a deal for another pair of military forklifts, the next series newer, I don't know if I can make it happen, but they are much nicer units. At least the specs are nicer, they lift to about 12' versus 8' and they have four wheel selectable steering. That would fix the only complaints I have with the ones that I own now. If I bought the pair of these, I would sell Clark too.

Made it back to the Salvage Garage, the wheel bearing must have just had a dry spot that needed some exercising, it was much cooler when I got here. I also got a 12' long pressure treated 2x6, a super heavy duty (and heavy) cart, and a not really sure how you attach attachment that is a homemade jib. I will have to rework that a bit if I want to use it.

The guy with the pair of military forklifts is interested in a possible trade, so he would take the two that I have and I would give him some cash in exchange for the other two. Not sure if we can make it work for both of us, but he threw it out there and I didn't duck.

I paid $50 for the cart and the jib piece, but it took me 20 minutes to load the cart. I used ratchet straps to get it on the trailer, then had to hang on the front to get it back to flat, unfortunately it was hooked on the truck too low, so the deck was not level and the cart rolled off the side and flipped over. Then I was really fun to load. I used some wood blocking and the 12’ 2x6 as my lever, then ratchet straps to slide it onto the trailer, it must weigh 300 pounds or more.

I am going to look at a sprayer setup that I can use for weed control this morning, then I was supposed to pick up some cabinets, but it looks like I might only be able to take a look at them today. I need to figure out what it is going to take to get them out of the building anyways, so maybe I can pick them up next week. I will post some pictures of them later today. I have to be at my first location around 8 AM and it is a two hour drive.

I ended up with two sprayer setups, one gas powered and the other 12 volt.
IMG_0200.jpeg

Then I went to take a look at the cabinets, they are super heavy, going to need help or it is going to be a rough day when I come back for them. Only thing that stinks is they can’t be flush against the wall, the cabinet rotates 360 degrees and since it is square, the corners protrude. Still not too deep, 32 1/2” from the wall to the front of the cabinets. It will be worth it for sure. They are selling me eight of them, $50 each. I thought that was good enough.

My dad used to sell those cabinets and currently has 4 in his house. They’re great but they are HEAVY as hell.

You can take them apart to move them. The bottom piece has the bearing to allow it to rotate. That’s the heaviest part.

The cabinets can hold a ton of weight. They’re designed for holding files usually so can imagine how much weight they can handle per shelf.

It appeared to me that the bottom is the only real structural part and the rest was just there more or less for aesthetics. I could tell they were well built, they will be perfect for all kinds of stuff. Most likely handle about anything that will fit in the drawers. If you know what brand they are, that would be of interest, I didn’t find any markings anywhere.

I am halfway home, stopping for some lunch, then another LEGO store peruse. ;)

I get no lunch, at least not from where I wanted to go, two graduations or something, I thought those were later, but I see caps and gowns. Bust at the LEGO store too, they had all kinds of things I wanted, just nothing that I wanted to pay asking price for.
