In the last month or so I have been having blurry eyes and balance issues, the Doc thinks it is BPPV no rhyme or reason to it, no meds to really fix it, and it really messes with things when it appears. When it first hit, I had a couple days of it, then I was fine for a couple days, then not. The last good stint was almost two weeks, now the last three days have been a mixed bag, today is a bad one, wish I hadn't left the house. It is a bit disorienting, but most of it feels more like I am constantly leaning forward on the edge of falling. I already had issues with things because I lost my achilles reflex in my left leg 25 years ago, I kind of thought it had to do with that, but nope. Everything I have read says that it last seconds or up to a minute, well, for me it is not short lived. I have had more than one time when I am driving and big bump clears it out completely only to come back when I exit the vehicle making the inner ear cause very likely. I know a few people on here have mentioned this before, so I guess I might be one of the group, or maybe I am dying from a brain tumor, who knows...

Strouty, sorry to hear about the potential of BPPV. My mother has that, and working with the doctor and physical therapist, there are exercises you can do that A. help prevent it, and B. help alleviate it when it happens. Talk to your doc about the details.
I have had a few slight episodes of it myself, and I can empathize with you, it *****!!! I have also found that being dehydrated and low on electrolytes can also cause this, so consider drinking more water, and adding a IV booster to your drink. It certainly won't hurt and may provide benefit.

Good luck with the snow/rain. I'd rather have it be cold enough for snow than have rain on frozen ground.

I've been in Shanghai for this week for a work trip, temps have been 50-70F and mostly sunny, while back at home in SD they've been having some extreme wind... 50+mph. Western SD saw as high as 100mph wind.

@Strouty I have suffered from positional vertigo. In my case it was at its most unnerving when standing on a ladder & looking up. Yeehaw. Never fell, but found myself hanging on for dear life. As it got worse getting out of bed even set it off.

I've tried the Eppley Manouver without results.

Following this lady's video has resolved it for me. She talks about needing to repeat up to 5 times, but 3 did it for me. It has helped some people I've known. Others have another problem & it's no good there. Personally it's been 100%.

For free it might be worth a shot. Make sure you are next to a bed or chair so you have something to hold on to. Because the world will spin during the process.

She says 45⁰ angle, but looking at the video I think she means 90⁰. I do 90⁰. I hold each position for 30 seconds.

My mom and my uncle both have this: (BPPV), and myself occasionally. PT helped my mom quite a bit

I lost more than a month of work to BPPV about 25 years ago. Exercises, the Eppley Manouver and visits to specialists were of no help. The final diagnosis was that I'd had a virus that affected the nerve pathway in my right ear, causing an imbalance in the timing of the signals from the inner ear to the brain. When I was totally immobile, the signals should have been identical, when moving the difference in the signals is part of how the brain interprets position and motion. The specialists said that my brain would eventually relearn the correct "values" for motion and position, and I guess it did. Strouty's mention of leaning to one side unintentionally was a leftover artifact for me. I remember having a staff meeting in my office, with two characters (good guys of the best sort) sitting facing me. I realized they were both leaning to the left to match my lean to the right..... Might have looked weird from outside the office.

I definitely won with leaving the snow, almost nothing left, except the places it got really packed down, like the areas walking in and out of the doorways.

Saturday was somewhat OK, I was able to keep myself upright and get a few things done. Today I am trying to wrap a few outside things up and get some stuff moved before we get more snow. I think I have help Monday and Tuesday, fingers crossed, with that extra power, I should have the entire front yard at the Salvage Garage cleaned up and ready to plow when needed.

Well, I managed a minor miracle yesterday, I made enough room to do a decent plow job at the Salvage Garage. Just in time for it to dump almost a foot of that ****. The SG is in the highest snow zone for the entire state, go figure. It isn’t like I wanted this, I still hate snow, but now I can at least stuff it out of the way. It is really going to mess up my Christmas plans, the storm isn’t supposed to stop for a while and it takes me a good 8 hours to do a full cleanup. If I stager things it won’t be too bad, that’s assuming I don’t end up getting dizzy. Regardless, I didn’t dream of a white Christmas, got it anyways, secretly I will say that at least this is the pretty fluffy snow that makes it feel like Christmas, but the snow should be gone by Jan 2nd.

Merry Christmas Strouty!

I'd rather have the dreaded white stuff than the freezing rain we're supposed to get day after Christmas. Supposed to be in the 50's on Christmas. Might have to get the bike out. If I get the wife's Cruze put back together.

We are supposed to get freezing rain boxing day, another 8" of snow Sunday/Monday, then lake effect firing up again after that which may drop another 16" of snow.

This winter sure isn't being gentle so far.

I don’t trust any weather guessers.

We have a solid foot of snow at the Hill, I suspect the same or more at the Salvage Garage.

I've found anymore that I follow a couple smaller weather accounts on Twitter. They seem more accurate than the high $$$ weather departments.

Today was super warm, I think we hit 35! It was good timing, had just enough daylight to move the last things around at the Salvage Garage. Had to shuffle a suburban that doesn't run, move Clark from out front to the side yard, and move the pallets and compactor over to the side area. This should give me a much better plowing experience, still have a lot of little things that I want to clean up out front. but that can be done without equipment.
