Don't go by BMI. When I was in HS and had less than 10% my BMI indicated I was overweight. Turns out my bone density is 11, which is twice the norm.

If you can get a body analysis done that give you more information, such as body fat %, body water %, muscle mass weight, your BMR (basal metabolic rate), bone mass and visceral fat - you'll be miles ahead with that information.

So I went to the local tire place, the guy working the counter wanted four of the rims I had bad, so I ended up paying $20 and the rims to dismount and dispose of 15 tires, then mount and balance 4 of my good tires. It would have been about $150 otherwise, considering the rims he wanted I got for free, it seemed like a good deal.

I also stopped at tractor supply to buy a couple trailer jacks, my rear plow blade thing needed one and the "new" trailer needed one as well. I bought two kinds as I have not decided what jack style I wanted to use. If I get a break from the rain, I may mess with those, but it is supposed to rain all day. I guess I will have to play with the new Lista instead. :(

I am not using it like that. It may only have two trays. I started using them in the bottom of the stainless top ones.

Ahh so you are going to pillage the new cabinet for the sake of others... I saw you said that cabinet was cheaper than buying the individual sliding shelves.

I would love one of those cabinets... 2... hmmm 3 top drawers... then one of those pull outs... strong enough to sleep on... if I wasn't so tall.

Yup, will end up making a much nicer setup for the time being. Once the stockroom is moved and officially setup, almost all the cabinets are going away. I only wanted them for the drawers.

I have not found any used cabinets (not in my price range) with the trays yet. I bought the single wide ones new, I think they were $125 each (including new slides), I don’t think I could buy 200 pound slides and build a drawer for that price.

Thanks for the info. Yes I could rig something but that a good price to just drop in and not have another build project.

I really like them at the bottom, you can use your foot to open them, then pick the stuff off them without having to bend down too far.

Good news is that the ran did not seem to create too much of an issue with the back yard at the shop. I am going to try and clean up the area behind the conex and other storage boxes today and tomorrow. I want to try and consolidate things a bit, but I will have to do some work with the excavator, the sumac has overrun the area and I tried pulling it out with no real luck. I had thoughts of stuffing things inside the shop just to clean up, but I am stopping that thought process. I will bring a couple things around front so I can be prepped for them, but they won't go inside until I am ready.

Now that the compressor works, I need to inspect the other tank, it is only four years newer, but it may have had an auto drain on it, so I have my fingers crossed that it is in better condition than the current one.

This morning I had too many plans for today and tomorrow, I am going to scale things back, a lot. I don't want to get myself overwhelmed again and that was the feeling I was getting just thinking about it. I need to remember to pace myself a bit, even though there is a sense of urgency to get ready for winter, I know that I am close and on target to be ready, even if that means a few things will be done after snow hits.

Sounds like a great plan!

We were invited to go to Peoria for a party this weekend, but I've already put 1400 miles on my car this week and we were out of town last weekend. My birthday is fast approaching so I told my wife a present would just be a down weekend where I can work on a few of my projects. I'm going to run by Lowes to pick up 8' 2x6s so I can add the frame supports for the last section of attic storage in my garage and get a big 2'x4' box light hung up. All of this is prep work so that I can haul free plywood paneling home to finish the walls and ceiling in my garage.

Downtime, I turned off the alarm last night and slept until 7:30, then after I took a shower, I did my laundry and watched the end of Jaws 14 (or whatever it was). I then folded my laundry, gathered up some clothes that I needed to keep at the shop, loaded my car and left the house (about 11:30). It was nice to chill a bit, now I am setting up the crane to put some more things on the gooseneck trailer. I figure having them on the trailer means that I can get to them this winter, if I even need to. Kind of like an extra layer of readiness, I don't really expect to need the stuff, but if I get to the point that I can start working on things, at least I will be able to.

I figure I have at lest a week or more, they are calling for 60s all next week, lowest temps are upper 30s overnight. At least I hope so, I just made a big mess today, got tons of stuff from behind the conex pulled out, so now the yard is a mess again. The good thing is that most of the stuff is easy to move with the forklift, so I can take care of it quickly if needed. Tonight I am going to load the burb with scrap wire and aluminum so I can drop it off tomorrow morning. I have some decisions to make tomorrow, I have a trailer "project" that I am not sure if I should cut up completely and scrap or if I should just get rid of the obvious scrap parts. It is an older boat trailer, it has a heavy duty 6 lug axle and it is galvanized. I can see tossing it together as another trailer, or I can see scraping it, I would keep the axle no matter what. I know I just bought a trailer, but for the price of some leaf springs and u bolts I can make it into a trailer again in an afternoon. It could come in handy later on, or I could sell it. Or I could just be a hoarder trying to rationalize keeping more junk???

Save the axel and scrap the trailer now while you're on a roll.
The axel won't take up much room in the yard.
Once things settle down, you can always scrap it later if don't get around to building a new trailer.

I think I would sell the axle, it is really wide, so it would be an odd single axle trailer. You are right though, the axle takes up almost no room in comparison to the rest of the trailer pieces. I just got rid of a bunch of other things that I have not used in forever, thought I could make money with them, never happened, now they go away.

I hauled the suburban body out back so I can strip it, shouldn't take long. I have a friend that runs a scrap yard, so I will probably have him come over, then I can load it on his truck and he can take it away.

Tomorrow I need to get the new trailer inside, it needs a few things added to it, also going to check the bearings and brakes.

I changed plans for taking the scrap in the morning, I can't remember if they are open or not, so I don't want to load the truck up until I know for sure. So I guess I am headed home for the night. I will try and add some pictures of the progress.

I got a really early start today, I could not sleep, so I got up at 4AM and got ready for the day. I have been at the shop for a bit, unpacking some printers that I bought, (why do people still use styrofoam peanuts?), thinking about how over the years I have dedicated too much time to things that are not important to me. I am working on my list of truly important projects, I am considering a project a lot like a goal at this point. I realize people think they can have priorities, but in reality, you can only have one priority, otherwise there are none. As an example, since the binding supplies were all tainted with the logo, I decided that I will keep the smallest size to use for shop use catalogs or manuals, but I am chucking the rest of them as they have no resale value. Less junk to house, less stuff to think about.

When I bought the new Lista cabinet, it was for the sliding trays, I do not really have enough room for another cabinet and I don't like the latching mechanism, so the cabinet will get reconfigured with fixed shelves and go to the auction next week. I have no time or place for things that don't work for me, so no sense in spending a day trying to reconfigure things to make a cabinet I don't really like fit the shop. I would like to get the trailer in the shop so I can add some expanded metal to the sides, maybe some etrack, and possibly extend the sides up more, this will allow it to fit my intended use better. Hopefully the scrap yard will be open today, then I can get all the wire, copper, and aluminum out of the shop for good. I will post some more outside pictures once the sun comes up.

Scrap yard is open, so I can get rid of the stuff!!!! I was worried as they didn't answer the phone earlier. Will get on that now, then I can do some outside noisy stuff this afternoon. I want to clean up the area behind the conex, then put all the axles out there.

You have a good days plan laid out. It will cost some run around driving time but to a good result as the scrap will be gone. I'm hoping for a similar productive day. It's colder but not raining so outside work can still happen.
Make it a good day!

The blast cabinet, it is one of my "projects", but has not been on my radar as I have not had the air compressor. It is not top priority and realistically it is probably bigger than what I need, probably needs a grand of parts to make it work again. I have to assess it as I go, I can buy a decent sized one for not much more than that, but this one is very well built, to replace it is over $6k. I just wanted it on the trailer, that way I can have access to it after the snow flies.

Almost all the good scrap is gone, at least what was cluttering up the shop, now I am up $210. They told me again that the coax was a penny a pound, he calls it cable TV wire, on the slip it says "AL CATV wire". I took the big stuff back, gave up the small stuff as I have no way to strip it easily. The big stuff can be cut in half and you end up with two nice pieces of copper. For now it is going in a water tight barrel and I will mess with it another time.

Going to clean up behind the conex after I unload the burb, then I will bring all the axles around back. That will make a big dent in things, then I need to get prepped to bring the trailer inside. If I can get things figured out, I should be able to have the trailer setup to load scrap steel tomorrow afternoon.

That's the perfect size for me, I could put a motorcycle frame in it... but I can't afford one that big, but for the cost of the parts, I'd be all over it... glad you're keeping it, but I call first dibs if you decide to let it go.

I think it will take an ATV frame, it is big and deep. The entire top flips up so it is easier to load.

Here are a few pictures of the trailer, I keep forgetting to post them.

Got a bunch more done, now I have to start making decisions on where stuff goes, that seems to always slow me down to a crawl. At this point, even if the rain creeps in, I am in good shape, I have everything high and dry that needs to be. It is definitely more of a mess than when I started today, but that is OK, I know that sometimes I have to make a mess to clean one up. I have a bit over an hour of daylight, I will post some updates after it gets dark.
