Strouty, it looks like your donor Sub has nice rear quarter panels. Our 2000 2500 is to the point where my inspection guy want's me to deal with it. I'm well beyond a flawless exterior but do not want to spend "body shop" money on this loosing battle. We have a hole in front of each rear wheel opening between it & the door, and both rear lower 1/4 pnls. I ordered it new in '99 and the inside and d/t are great. Are you just junking the body?

I am junking the body, but I need some of the rear panels. I have another burb, that is going to scrap as well, should be enough for both of us though.

Thanks guys, it has definitely been a process. I still need to get a better handle on the inside, but I figured I would concentrate on the exterior for as long as possible. Those last few things are always the hardest to get done.

Windy today, I was going to move some things with the crane, but I think I will wait, no sense in finding out how much wind is too much. I finally added a small section of exhaust pipe to the 5 ton, so now it shouldn't smoke me out of the cab as bad. Currently deciding on what direction to go, I need to start pulling seats from the bus so I can put away the suburban parts and some other stuff, but I may slap the burb back together and park it outside so I can see how bad it does with only 5 glow plugs. Tomorrow is supposed to be in the 20s, so if it starts without being plugged in, the I am fine with 5, if it won't start, then I may need to pull off the head and get the old plugs out. Either way, I am going to do a few more things outside before it starts cooling off too much.

6am... it was crazy rain and wind... by 9am... it was beautiful 55 degrees... SUNNY... but still freakishly windy... had to fetch some yard "stuff" that blew away.

Had the discussion with the wife of why the lawn tractor with plow has to live in the garage for the winter... would be way too cold if it was kept in the big shed to start. If snow was coming... i would add the snowblower to the garage as well... that has electric start and can be moderately pushed without power... even tho it's sizable.

Winter prep is all about prepping before winter.

The Burb started and it was about 25 degrees. Motivation is back and I am going to spend a bit of time on it this afternoon. I need to get the plow wired up and get the power connections to the doors working.

Snap On driver helped me get the hood back on, first I had to remove the remnants of the old under hood light. Glad I have my fancy pliers, everything else was slipping and I didn’t really want to grind them off and drill the holes out. Luckily I have a decent used one on the super special clean burb. I found a NOS one on eBay, so that will go on the rust free truck.

Thanks Dwight, I have my fingers crossed that we won't have any real snow until next week. I am dedicating Wednesday through the next Monday to finishing up all the outdoor projects that have been lingering.

The vampliers are a gimmick name, these are the real engineer pliers, either way they are great. I have a few styles and sizes and another pair made by Merry that are pretty cool as well.

The only reason I don't have the vampliers was they had red handles. I am not a fan of red.

Mine are green... even has a green condom thing... pretty sure I had a choice... now I have to go down two flights of stairs and walk 100 feet... barefoot... to check

All green... all Neji-Saurus ... the spring loaded ones have the condoms

Can't wrap my head around calling them anything else... in my mind they are vamps ... but I agree... didn't go with that name brand because the Engineer brand had better reviews.

We have the exact same pliers...

I am off to get ready for the big meeting, did not get much of anything done at the shop level, but after tonight, I will have 5 days essentially dedicated to finishing things up so the snow can go f*%$ itself.

Very bad. Planning board is not well informed and will most likely have to appeal the decision. They are going to get a really good education by the time I am done.

Not joking, Chairman of both town council and planning board own the land. They both recused themselves, but there is definitely a concerted effort to get the second tower through. I know there is bias, we just have to get it to show on the record, then when we take it to court it will be in our favor.

Yup, as you know, I've seen that movie before. Are they at least planning to build it on the right side of the mountain this time ?

The proposed tower will be less than 600' from the tower I just got approved in September, except it is down the hill about 12' and the town is saying that it will be needed to offer better cell phone coverage. I have been through a lot of town meetings because of towers, never have I been through one where the town was pushing for two towers in the same location. Since they want to open up the flood gates, I am going to show them what to expect. I am applying for another tower on Monday and I will be applying for a new tower overlay district at another location ASAP. If they want a free for all, they are going to get it.

:wtf:
If they want better coverage, it should be on the opposite side of town.
I don't even know what I'm talking about and I can figure that one out. :tard:

It is a mess, we could have avoided the entire issue, except the disfunction of family made things too cumbersome to react quickly. Several times when I tried to get a fire going, they let it burn out, so here we are. I am working with what I have, hopefully it is enough. I would absolutely love it if the tower was approved, built, but never used by anybody but the town fire department, they get free rent on that tower.

Thanks, been really busy and almost ignoring the shop. I was supposed to be here all weekend, but that didn't happen. It seems like no matter what I want to do there is always something "more important". I just bought a book that I am looking forward to reading - "Your Money or Your Life" by Joe Dominguez and Vicky Robin. It seems like I am starting to have more money than time and I think I hate it. I want to balance things, streamline them, get my priority figured out (notice I didn't say priorities). Today our world is full of too much information, too much stimulation, too much commercialization, too many material things, it is overwhelming. I have felt lost for a while and I just want to get back to what I enjoy, the rest of the stuff is killing me, it used to be slowly doing it, but things have been happening way too fast lately.

My shop is a 35 minute drive from my house, so I am spending over an hour every time I come here. I have tried to use this time to listen to audiobooks or relax and listen to music, but it seems like my mind can't let go of other things. I have been attempting to get more sleep and this doesn't seem to help. The last week has been awful with the meeting and the holiday my sleep schedule has turned upside down. Today I had a couple simple things that I should have done, neither got done, tomorrow's schedule has been close to filled already. The last time I worked on the burb was almost a week ago (last Monday). I think my chaos loving personality is trying to win a battle, it is really strong and has succeeded many times before. Going to have to balance things better and really look at the tasks that need to get done. One step at a time, except I am on an escalator that is going the wrong direction.

Sorry to go all mental, I just needed to type that, just so I could see it. Sometimes I just can't understand what is going on until I post it. You guys come up with good advice as well.

I feel your pain. I’m glad my shop is 5 minutes not 35 minutes away. Pulling up to the house just now I was thinking, sure’d be nice to have zero tasks, projects on the to-do list sometimes.

Strouty, your very much like me as in my mind races on all the things I got to do. There’s work and family which of course comes first but I run off in my head a months of projects of my MIL house, at least a months at my own house then 4 vehicles. Noticed I haven’t even talked about my garage and things I want to finish there. Always seems like there’s a fire to be put out somewhere. Then we start new projects because it’s a distraction from the mountain of others you have. It can be very overwhelming for some people like myself. There comes a point in time when you totally got to reevaluate things and find what’s works good for you and nobody but you. Things change with age and what you wanted 5 years ago isn’t working today. I’m not saying there wouldn’t be things to do that’s unless you sell off everything and move into a apartment with no garage. LOL. Actually I shouldn’t laugh because I thought about it. I have friends that sold the big house, got rid of most his tools and they now rent a apartment. All the tools he needs fits into his trunk of his car. Now they have no worries and just enjoy life. I’m sort of jealous of that because I still can’t give up idea of at least having a garage or small shop to tinker in. Sorry to go off on tangent there but hope you get the that point where you want to be wherever that is.
