I only bought two cabinets, will be picking them up this afternoon. Will post pictures after I unload them. The plan is to use one with more of my drawers, to store all the small suburban parts for the project truck. Right now parts are everywhere and it is getting silly.

After I posted that, I went out to take pictures of the cabinets and the one I didn’t like turned out better than I thought. It has this slide out tray, but it appeared to only pull out half way, I had never seen one like it, just figured it was an oddball. After messing with it, the rollers are really dry and it does pull out the entire depth. So I am very happy about that.

I have been soaking a bracket in evaporust for the last 24 hours. It is doing a better job than I thought it would. I just took it out and broke up some more of the thicker rust, hopefully by tomorrow it will be good to paint.
I am still trying to finish up the outside projects, just can't seem to get anything done lately.

Haven't been on in a while Strouty. Things around the shop are looking good. Keep up the good work!
Unfortunately, I have not really been in for a while either. Hopefully next year will be a bit more shop oriented than this fall has been. I am still working on my tower project, still trying to get the final approval for the building permit. Also trying to defeat a huge multibillion dollar corporation and the people that are helping them within the town. This is one of those true David versus Goliath stories and I am feeling it.

If you get a spare Lista... and are driving thru NJ... I'm on the dead end on the left... at the end.
We got the planning board to table the decision for another month, but they pulled some shady ****. They went into what is called executive session, to talk in private with the town lawyer, they spent almost an hour discussing something that should have taken 5 minutes. At this point the delay helps our position and it is definitely better than an approval. I hope they have some new information for the January meeting, I think that info will end all the shenanigans.
Yesterday I swapped tires on trucks, got the F-350 dump/plow ready to go, even got the tire chains on it. Today I filled things with gas, then filled all the empty cans, this way I am ready to go if I need more for the plow or generator. I have still not done anything with the Lista cabinet that I bought the other day, I want to get it setup soon, I have a ton of parts for the suburbans to sort out and put away and the Lista will be instrumental in this process. I did manage to grab about ten drawers from the conex, so I am ready to go, just need the motivation. I still have not finished the wiring for the plow on the burb, but to be fair, I have had no time and I have the F-350 ready to go.
I have been playing with the evaporust and it works very well, I can see that I need some more containers to soak parts in. I do think I will have to invest in a new wire wheel for my grinder, that should get the threads really clean on the bolts that I have been soaking. Another thought was if the evaporust could be used in a ultrasonic cleaner? It may be that it doesn't work as well, at this point I don't own an ultrasonic cleaner anyways, so I guess it doesn't matter.

I am about to head out, got a few things done, made a bit of a mess, replaced the lights on the v-plow. Tomorrow is questionable at best, may stay at home depending on the freezing rain. I figure plowing after the rain stops is probably going to be the best course of action. Regardless, until the storm is over, you never know what you are getting and the weather guessers are not very reliable. Hope everyone in the path of this mess stays safe.

Strouty, I also tried Evaporust and then decided to buy a small ultrasonic cleaner. I looked at the ones at Harbor Freight but they were pretty small. I only need to clean up small parts so I bought this one.

It holds 6 liters of Evaporust and has a heater as well as a timer so you can set it and not worry it's running forever. Only thing I didn't like was the lack of a shutoff. Rather than unplug it I bought a cable with a switch in it for another $5.

While I have not tried Evaporust in my ultrasonic cleaner I see that Bob Heine has and I would expect it works well and is excelerated by the heat and ultrasonics like other cleaning solutions from my experience. If you want more details I did a little comparison and test sequence myself and showed the setup and results on my thread starting at post 283. In summary though, the heated solution used combined with the ultrasonic action does a better and faster job than just plain soaking at room temperature. My cleaner is one of the HF types only because I got it second hand and it is what it is. It does a pretty good job but is smaller than I might like in the future. I do like the looks of the one Bob H has and would definitely consider an upgrade. The other part of my test was to make setup and clean up easy so I also used thin plastic containers to hold the actual cleaning solution and parts and then set that container inside the ultrasonic tank of water. The sound waves transfer quite nicely through the thin wall of the second container, does the job intended, and then make for easy cleanup of your machine because it just has plain clean water in it.
The Evaporust could be poured through a strainer back into its bottle for later reuse. I think one of these machines could definitely speed up your process of cleaning fasteners.

Ah man, I forgot I need to pick up a bigger ultrasonic cleaner too... I'm going for a 15L model, IIRC, because it's big enough to put assembled I-4 motorcycle carbs with enough room around the sides so they don't touch.

tomorrows going to be interesting around here if the sun dont come out. got lots of ice on the trees, and snow coming....
Most of the larger ones I am finding are still pretty shallow, but I rarely would use it for larger things like carbs or throttle bodies, most of the use would be for hardware and tools.

Just finished the plowing at the shop, I need to shuffle some things and bring a suburban inside so it will be ready for a tire swap on Tuesday. Everything was good to go, I swapped the old tires and rims from the 2004 half ton truck, then we found out that the 2004 needs the 17" rims to clear the calipers, now I have to swap them back. Talk about doing work for nothing, I guess that is what happens, just waiting for the guy that wants to buy the truck to either back out or ask for a reduction in money. Either way, I will just keep the truck and run it for a bit, then I will sell it in the spring to get my money back.
I feel like I am working against myself today, don't have the time to put the lista cabinet together, so the drawers need to move to get the suburban inside. At least tomorrow I have a good excuse not to do anything.

Either manually remove it or use calcium chloride pellets. The one time it happened to me, I spent a while on a ladder with an air riveter and chisel getting the worst off, then the chloride. That summer, I had the roof re-shingled using membrane under the shingles.

I am probably going to dig out the bucket truck and use that, safer than a ladder. I have only had to do this once before, I guess I should be more proactive. I will say that when I fix the roof, there will be a section of metal along the edge, then if it does build up, the ice won't stick as easily.
Lista deal, I said it again. Not sure what will come of it, could be months before I know anything. My fingers are crossed though.

The real problem is a warm roof that melts the snow. The water runs down to the cold edge and re-freezes creating the ice dam. Better insulation and/or ventilation helps.

I need more quality time with my Listas, I haven't even had a chance to label them all yet.
Shop is 38 degrees right now, oil is supposed to be delivered today (it was actually scheduled for last week, but who is keeping track). 20 gallons was manually added yesterday, so I should be fine until Monday. With the warmer temps next week, I should be able to address the ice dams and get the shop back into the comfort zone for my regular work. The day that I thought was going to be warmer, turned out to be still too cold for the trucks. This time I may borrow my brother's small bucket truck the night before and put it inside the shop, that should do the trick.
