Not for nothing but... I just got a weather warning for Maine... why I don't know... but... Friday... It's gonna SNOW there. I know you mentioned it but I thought it was odd... I got the warning here at the Jersey Shore.

I will also mention... The Atlantic Ocean looks PISSED right now.

I am already on it, should be able to cleanup the yard and have things plow ready in a day. Having the plow ready is a different story, no clue what that will take, I am guessing a good day to have that ready, but if I get it inside, I can be working on it during the snow, then plow afterwards.

The worst part is that I should be ready, had plenty of time to prepare, I mean all the snow was gone in June.........

;)

Happens to all of us.....

We have some impending snow to arrive in York, PA tomorrow.... I will be prepping the Skidsteer tonight... Just need to slip on the polyethylene cutting edge and attach the bucket instead of the pallet forks.... Then park it in front of the garage by the house and get a tarp on it to keep the snow off....

It will probably not be that much snow, but still.....

I will say, when you know it is arriving, it gives a person the FOCUS to stay on task....

Otherwise, with so many random projects, it is easy to get distracted and do a little bit on each project instead of just getting ONE thing DONE. :bounce: At least, that is my struggle :lol_hitti

I really like that style of house, that is going to be a good looking home.
I did see a nice 6 panel interior door, hope they are in good shape and the rest of the house also has the 6 panel doors.
Don't let it overwhelm you. get it weather tight and you can take you time and do it correctly.

The doors are pretty well worn and abused, by the time I am done, there won’t be much of the original house left.

The plow is inside, needs some attention to the transmission lines, haven’t really investigated yet. I may take a look tonight, but I really want to give my back a good break, it has been feeling pretty bad the last few days. As long as it isn’t anything major with the leak, I should be able to sort it out in short order.

We took the last load of outside scrap to the yard today, loaded up the refrigerators and air conditioners for tomorrow, I found some more paint as well. :(

The black burb is on its way here via tow truck, need to sort that out as well, hopefully just the starter, but won’t know until I get it inside, after the plow is out and ready.

Toss the heaviest trash bags on the back of the plow truck and cover them with a tarp.
Voila ! Winter weight for traction, and it makes the pile look smaller. LOL

The chains are on it already, in fact they never came off, I never even took the plow off the truck. I would like to get the dump body working again, should be fairly simple, but I was scratching my head last time trying to figure it out. Basically, the transmission cooler lines were leaking, my brother had some that he changed out from another truck and I made them work with a bit of adjustment, they are nickel copper, so no future rust issues either. Should have it all set to at least plow tomorrow morning, maybe I can get it to dump too!

The reason I asked is that we're not allowed to run chains or studs here in Michigan. Sounds like the line swap went easy, that's good news.

This truck stays on private property, if I drove it over the road, I could use studded tires, but chains would be frowned upon via some sort of fine if caught.

The lines were fairly easy, still need to hook up the front rubber section and add some ties to keep things in place. I had to jam my hand up into a tight place and my forearm now has a patch of road rash from rubbing back and forth over the edge of the transmission pan, probably will bruise up too, it is tender.

I still have a full day outside as well, there is plenty to get done before the snow starts. Looks like it will be fairly late tonight, so I should be able to pull it off.

Yeah, it sounds like you guys are about to get hammered. I'm still days away from being ready, but we're only supposed to get a dusting.

The plow is ready to plow, still need to work on the dump body, but I figure that can wait. The black burb is inside, I need to figure out why it won’t start, hopefully just the starter, but could be lots of things. First I need to get the rest of the outside stuff picked up, then get a trip to the dump, hopefully I can get everything done.

I got almost everything done, I didn’t get the last few bags of trash moved or the riding lawn mower, but everything else has been put out of harms way and I am ready for snow. Now that I am ready it will probably rain.

The black burb is inside and ready to be diagnosed, also brought the V plow inside, may actually get to use it, but only if I can get the burb started.

It's not going to rain...

We got the sleet/snow last night... SW corner of Indiana. Frickin' snow and sleet BEFORE Thanksgiving! But it wasn't too bad, school didn't close, just a 2 hour delay and by 9am the temp was back over freezing so it melted off the roads. I had an hour drive NE to make sales calls. By 3pm their time it was starting to snow and now they have a couple inches on the ground.

Glad you got most everything done in time. I haven't been on GJ in over a week... the new property looks 1000X better.

Thanks BMF, I will say it felt good knowing that I could plow and not have to worry about where to put the snow or what I would need to extricate from the white blanket later.

Looks like it will also turn to rain at some point soon, so it will be an even bigger mess. Tomorrow is supposed to be in the upper 40s, so it may be fine overall, just not sure if I want to wait to plow or what, these first storms are always a PITA and if you mix rain in, it can make or break your entire plow scheme.

They changed the national forecast now, it was supposed to be el nino this year, with a less nasty winter in the midwest, and now they are saying east half of the country will be much colder than normal. I am sorry to hear that i can tell you!

Yesterday was a lazy day, it snowed and my GF was home from work, so we watched two movies and that was about all, I did do a small amount of paperwork, but really nothing got done. I think I needed it, wish I hadn’t gone to bed so late though.

Need to clean up the snow this morning, it is supposed to be in the mid forties, should induce a lot of melting with the sunshine. Still need to figure out the burb starting issue, that would make me feel a lot better knowing what is wrong, even then, the truck still needs new glow plugs on the drivers side, probably will need to remove the exhaust manifold at a minimum, the entire head worst case.

Ours is finally melting today too. My wife is in Indy with a friend shopping, I have the boy indentured to me from a Fortnite in-game purchase so he'll be cleaning up leaves while I try to get the garage organized enough to get the GL1100 and KZ650 back into the garage for winter. Then I need to make some space to allow me to actually work on the CX500 this winter.

The good news is I have 2 empty 95gal garbage cans. I'm planning to just start throwing some stuff away.

I have seen my fair share of trash in the last week, can’t wait until I get rid of all of it.

Snow was decent, but ground didn’t totally freeze, so I did do a fair amount of grading instead of just plowing. I found all kinds of things while plowing at the house, I guess at least I am getting it out of the way for the next storm.

No problem Pines.

Now for the kick in the balls, I am driving to NAPA to get a starter for the black burb in the maroon one, it starts to take off with no throttle. I think the injection pump just said goodbye. So now I wait for a tow truck so that I can go back to the shop without the starter that I need and now I have two broken down trucks. I just hope Bev will start otherwise I might just cry. :(

I feel your pain, we have 7 vehicles that should be road worthy, and every single one of them needs work. Both back up vehicles are completely down.

Bev did start, but I haven’t left the house yet, so it could still be a problem this morning. I think (read hope) she will start without an issue. The big problem is that if I don’t have all the parts to fix the maroon burb, it may be tough getting them due to the holiday. I can see there may be some expensive shipping charges involved. The biggest issue is that Bev is just a hot mess when it snows, may have to add some weight, it will help, but not make me feel much better. Even if I fix the black burb and get it to start, it still has glow plug issues and will not start below 30, even if plugged in. :(

So I almost think my best option is to tear into the black burb, get it fixed, as I have all the parts to do that job, it is just a lot of labor. At least I am envisioning it being a lot of labor. I am going to pull the fender off and replace the ABS module at the same time, I have a nicer outer fender and a new inner one, plus it will give me the most access to the glow plug area, if I can get them out without removing the exhaust or head, it would be awesome, but highly unlikely.

Hey at least the old stanadyne pumps aren't too expensive to get rebuilt. My 7.3 takes 1600 dollar injectors. Db2 pumps are like 325. Look at the bright side?

I have been trying to look at the bright side, just got so much going on I can afford to have someone else do the work, but I don’t have the time. I just want to get it done ASAP so I have at least one working vehicle. The black burb is going to be a RPITA, I won’t even mess with it until I am ready. I will get the starter sorted out but the glow plugs are only coming out after I remove the head.

As for the maroon burb, I have at least two good used injection pumps and one is in the shop on an engine. I think the safest way forward is to get the maroon one going, then tear into the black one. I will try swapping the PMD on the maroon one first, but this seems more like an injection pump issue versus what I usually see when the PMD goes bad. I would love it to be the PMD, that would be a quick and cheap fix.

I'm trying to learn the lesson of prioritizing. I'm also trying to learn that even though I can do most jobs, sometimes in makes more sense to **** it up and pay to have it done. Not easy when you've had to struggle for money most of your life. Good luck at making good decisions.

Well I pulled out the starter and confirmed it is the starter, solenoid engages, but no spinning. I think there is some other issue because I can jump the starter motor and get it to spin free, but not when the bendix is enhanced. I will investigate later, I bought a new starter, so no core charge, lifetime warranty too. I think the entire issue happened because the bolt holding the rear of the starter fell out. I guess I will use thread locker this time, I know I installed it last time, it is a bit of a pain to get to. Regardless should have this truck running today, then I can work on troubleshooting the maroon one.

Pump mounted driver or some call it the FSD - fuel solenoid driver. It is basically a couple transistors and they get hot and die, I am sure I could replace just the transistors, but I am way too lazy right now to attempt that.

Made a jumper for the starter, should make installation and any future removal a lot easier.

It starts! At least that is something. Now I need to go and get the 4x4 actuator so I can use it. I have five actuators and they are all the new style, so not one will fit this truck, they fit every other truck, go figure.

Once the 4x4 is working, I will pull the truck out and bring the other one inside. Then I can get the PMD harness out so I can test a spare. If it does the same thing, it is the injection pump and I will start in on that project.
