Yes, but after a lot of research, the firetruck is going to become parts, Maine is a real horror show when it comes to fire trucks. Of course I am looking at buying another one, this time from Iowa. I think I jumped the gun when I bought the first one, luckily I can use the engine, axles, wheels, and tires. The rest is not as great, probably will use the transmission in the ford F700 crew cab project. In the end, I will break even had I actually bought the parts outright, I may even make a bit extra selling trinkets and scrapping the remaining parts.
This second fire truck has a much larger more powerful engine, bigger automatic transmission, already has a PTO, the rear axles have lockers and they steer. I have already spoken to the fleet manager at the FD that owned the truck as well as the purchasing agent, the only reason the truck was taken out of service had to do with the aerial ladder, there is a twin to the truck still in service, but due to the repair costs, they bought a new truck. It is a much heavier truck, better suited for a crane, I will not be using the fire truck cab at all, this is just for parts as well.
