At some point I will be upgrading my excavator, but I don’t use it that much, so it is hard to justify. I will need to get a job that needs enough earthwork so I “need” to upgrade. I also need to upgrade my crane, it is clear the the knuckle booms are very nice and very handy, but they are not the same as a boom truck. I need a 30 ton crane, that would fit the bill nicely, hopefully I can find one with a truck that burned or something like that.

I just spent the last 30 minutes pulling Perk out of the mud with the stupid trailer that has four flat tires that are all partially off the rims. Try backing that trailer, it goes sideways, but never the direction you want. Almost dark now, think I will do a couple more things outside, then do some inside work. I really want to get the OGMC tail lights figured out, then I can drive it.

I am close enough to the coast that I might get nothing, at least nothing that stays on the ground. It all depends on the track of the storm, the forecast will be correct when the storm is over.

I king of out fumbled myself, I don't have a vehicle to drive home, at least not one that will start easily in the cold. I hope I can figure out the tail lights on the OGMC, then I can drive it home, not that it is a perfect starting vehicle in the cold either. I just need one more week and I can have everything ready, LOL, who am I kidding.... ;)

Supposed to be much nicer along the coast at least around here.

Thanks X, I think even if I get a few inches it will be fine, I have plenty to do in the office and it is going to warm up again.

I guess there is something to be said for having lots of parts vehicles, the issue with the OGMC was the harness that goes from front to bak of the truck, just so happens that I had another frame sitting out front with the correct harness, 10 minutes later, I had it out, tested everything and now it works fine with the new harness, now I just need to route it, going to do a temporary install as there are two wire sets in one loom and I don't have time to swap all the other stuff tonight. At least I figured the issue out and can solve the problem with minimal effort. :)

I had spoken too soon about the harness being the issue, looks like it may be a connector down the line. Will have to plug the original harness in and retest, after the initial installation of the new harness I had a similar issue, but not when I tested it originally. The location of the issue (I think) is where the harness splits to plug in a brake controller. Worst part is that there are no back up lights, not even sure where to try and chase that yet. Anyways, I did enough testing last night that I am pretty sure I know what connector is causing the issue and I will take a look at that later this week. I have the lights working and that is all that matters for this minute. The truck needs the bumper replaced, so I am trying to coincide the wiring with that, will make replacement much easier.

Looks like the storm is coming earlier than originally expected, so I may not get nearly as much done as I would like to, I can live with where I am for now, I need to spend a couple days in the office again anyways.

November storms. . . Just like you, I'm working through as much outside stuff as I can while weather permits, figuring the inside stuff can wait until storms come along. Got stuck in the mud last weekend. Don't mind stuck in snow, but mud is miserable. I won't be plowing this one either.

Looks like you continue to make amazing progress. Yours is one of the threads I always stop to read when it comes on on the forum.

Thanks for checking in Prospecter, I try and keep things real, I like to show how things really are, as much as I like seeing beautiful garage spaces, I dint think I could ever own one. ;)

Got a bit more outside work done, had to return my brother’s dump truck, figured I would head home early and get my GF some dinner, she hasn’t been feeling well, traffic was terrible, looks like everyone wanted to get home early.

Strouty keep your snow shovel handy. They told us 3-5” here and I got at least 8-10” dumped on us today. Yesterday I was blowing leaves and cutting grass today I’m buried in white stuff and radar shows it heading right up the north east.

I think the ocean is helping us on this one, further inland they are getting snow, we might get a light coating, Wednesday is supposed to be very cold with wind chills in the single digits, that is going to ****. Friday is supposed to be almost 50 again, so looks like that will be my next day dealing with outside stuff.

We got next to nothing around me, but I saw snow on vehicles coming from the north.

Just got to the galvanizer and are stuck in line to get loaded. This is probably going to be the most annoying part of the day.

I just keep giving thanks that I'm not the one buying all this stuff and sit back with the popcorn!

This one will get chopped up quickly, I need to get the engine prepped for Perk.

On another front, employee says he will be vacating house and shop before Christmas. Really messes me up, but I guess getting in sooner should be better, just hate the idea that I will have three places to deal with all the snow removal and heat, can’t wait!

On the bright side, I may be able to start one of the truck projects sooner as the new shop space has taller doors so I can get the truck inside and really work on it.

Strouty, my resume is in the mail. How close are you to the ocean?

Oh do you guys have a boat? Will one be provided?

That is great news on all fronts.

It is 14 degrees right now and the wind chill says -1 degrees. Awesome.

Glad I am doing office work the next couple days, Friday will be almost 50 again, go figure.

Strouty sounds like his moving out is a step in the right direction.

Got about 3 to 4 inches of snow with a thick crust from the sleet/rain here.

Only way into my truck was via by the back door: fronts were frozen solid.

Strouty how does that galvanizing work ? Do you clean everything up and deliver it to them, and they dip things in a tank ?
Didn't realize there were companies around that did galvanizing.

Yup, we fabricate things and they dip it, if it has mill scale, heavy rust, or paint on it, you have to sandblast it, light surface rust is ok, they acid dip it before the zinc. There are two places in Massachusetts that do it. They have a minimum price then it is so much per pound after I think the first 1000 pounds.

So with your childhood house opening up you're going to move in, sell your old house and use the new shop or use both shops? I can't imagine how long it's going to take you to move shops.
