That was cool, wish my trucks were that configurable, someday I will start working on things again, just not this someday. I spent way too much time messing around with my stuff, now I have too much to do in the office.

I am going to try and not spend any money for a couple weeks, I will still be paying bills and normal things like food and fuel, but the plan is to attempt to finish some projects that I have already purchased parts for and get them out of the way. If I have to spend more it will only be to finish one of these projects, not a new one. This also means no "free" projects, we all know how expensive "free" usually ends up being. I figure baby steps, but I need to get into this mentality or I am afraid I will never finish a project and become buried in all my unfinished stuff. I really want to have a fully operational truck by spring and in order to make that happen, I need more self control. As you guys all know, I won't hide what I do or lie and say I didn't buy anything, I will post my progress and emotional responses to doing this. I would like to concentrate on old projects and some old bills, I have a few that are "no interest" and I have been making the payments, but I am tired of the feeling of "owing" interest free or not. Plan is to have things paid off by July at the latest, I want to have a decent summer and next winter should be as stress free as possible. Hopefully I will have lots of my loose ends ******* and some of the family issues dealt with too.

So here we go, no new projects or frivolous spending for the next few weeks, wish me luck, I am going to need it.

And to be fair and transparent, I did just purchase several items on eBay to finish some of the loose ends. I know that I will have to buy some parts for the OGMC, but that is a project that needs to be finished. I figured mentioning this was worth it for all of us. ;)

My follow through can become a bit wayward. ;)

As an example, right now I am in the office dealing with paperwork, looking for something specific that got misplaced in my move to the new office. I should be organizing the paperwork as I go, but all I am doing is handling things to make sure that what I need is not tucked inside them. I do not have the space or time to layout things right now, we have a meeting on Monday and the office needs to be presentable, plus I need the specific thing for next week too. I wish I had moved things differently, but the file cabinet shuffle killed me, all my Dad’s company stuff is in my old file cabinets and all my stuff is in plastic file boxes that seem insanely disorganized. When my stuff was in the file cabinets, I could at least find things. :(

I am proud of you. Now you are making sense, if you remember I was in your shoes last year and I only mention that to say it worked for me. I am at the end of my list of backed up projects. I even started a new project today that was not on the list. Good for you buddy.

Thanks Jim

I found what I needed to, big relief, funny part is it wasn't in any of my piles, it was under some manuals on top of one of the file cabinets. Go figure. Anyways, tomorrow I plan on setting up a couple more cabinets so I can start pulling Dad's company stuff out of my cabinets, then I can start organizing my stuff too. Hopefully won't have the stress over paperwork much longer, still figure it will take me a few weeks to get things back to semi organized.

I'm trying to head toward the same goal, but life keeps getting in my way. Finish all of the current projects (or projects needed to finish those projects, ie. the dump box on the dump truck) then finish organizing the barn, before I start anything else. Tomorrow I'm buying 2 hole saws I need so I can finish the dump box. maintenance items or completion items only. Good Luck.

It's really hard to keep up with all the projects especially when all of us here have that disease. You know the one where you can't just walk past a pile of parts without seeing something you just cant live without.
Or the other one where you pickup a piece and collect parts to restore it for the next ten years.
I am a plural member of both of those diseases. And have just recently found out that you can just walk away.
I started last year by selling cars that I have been sitting on for years. I actually started sorting parts and culling them some items I have 6 or 7 in stock.
I started fixing tools that I had duplicate and triples of and gave a lot of them to friends that didn't have one.
I have about 5 flathead distributors about 6 gm hei distributors a normal person dosen't need that many. I counted about 60 ratchets and I'm not a collector. You just have to take a reality check decid what is really important and what you really want in the end make a list and start checking off boxes. It's about as easy as a fat guy going on a diet. Ask me how I know!

It is very tough for sure Jim, then you have all the enablers, peer pressure, and Facebook marketplace too. ;)

My enablers work even when I was literally at the other side of the world.

Then yesterday Facebook Marketplace struck and I ended up spending money on a heat treatment oven that I don't have space for. I swear it's far worse than Craigslist. But the price was right, especially considering I don't have to build it, and after all, time is money.

So far I have held out on marketplace, my bil keeps trying to entice me to it but I'm holding on. That is a dangerous place for me,
funny thing, I'm typing this message and Hoarders is on the tv right now. :Bounce

Marketplace is the crack dealer for us.

I have purchased many things from there, but the real issue is all the time I have wasted looking at stuff.

Craigslist can be just as bad, I drove to Virginia for a burb chassis, that was a lot of time.

Yep. I drove an hour and a half one way for a motorcycle engine.

I consider that close and normal, is that bad?

I am finally at the office, still a mess, also need to try and get heating oil delivered this week, hopefully the weather will cooperate, if not, I am lugging lots of 5 gallon cans.

The plan is to attack the setup of the main office, with the old built in cabinets gone, I can now get the area setup temporarily, really it is just an expansion, but I need to have a physical setup to use for a while. Right now it is a hodgepodge of old counters and a fold up table, but it is enough to know if it will work or not. One of the things I wanted to do involves some wiring and I do not have time right now, if I can figure out how to do it easily without creating a mess or trip hazard, I will probably still tackle it.

An hour and a half for business or to keep the daily drivers running on the cheap is ok but a three hour trip for a motor that is still laying on the floor. We know what can happen on a three hour tour, it ain't good!
Glad you got the office plan going

It has to be functional, meeting tomorrow, still have paperwork to deal with and some data entry to get done as well. I have a feeling it may be a late night, got the tunes going, have food, and still motivated, so I am doing my best.

Also just wanted to mention, I had PB&J for lunch today and yesterday, I wanted so badly to go and buy lunch. I think the food is going to be the hardest part for me, I eat lunch out almost every day. It will also make the most difference between money and fat content. ;)

I have one cabinet in, need to find the screws that hold the drawers in, then on to the next one. Only need to setup three more, I already moved the safe (not a huge one, but heavy enough), need to take all the files out of a larger cabinet and get it out of the way before I can setup the other cabinets.

Laughing out loud right now, the desktop date thingy says May 13th, guess I have been a bit neglectful. I do have all the new calendars hung, so I did do something.

I have essentially already broken my no spending rule, but I am going to plead my case here. When I bought the big Allison transmission, someone else had already bought the engine, they got the part that bolts the crank to the torque converter. :( I decided to see if the seller would either contact them or give me their info, got the phone number, called, left message, they got back to me, for $100 I get the part I need and all the bolts, guy is fairly local too. So I know that this is not one of my "current projects" but it will be a piece that is hard to get later and I know it would cost more than $100, so I am breaking my own deal to buy it. I thought about it long enough to essentially convince myself that it was worth buying now. What do you guys think, am I a cheater???

And I just pulled out the big file cabinet, no drawers of course, but still it is pretty heavy, mostly awkward, wish I had my suction cups here.

I did find the part number, so maybe I should check and see how much I will save, might make me feel better.

The plan this week is to get the fuel lines and brake lines replaced in the OGMC, from there I have parts ordered for the transmission lines, while I am under there, I am going to cut out the bad spots and replace them with rubber lines, then once I get all my AN fittings and hose, I will be replacing everything with nice hose and fittings. I am trying to get the OGMC out so I can get the maroon burb in and start working on some of the issues it has. The idea is that the OGMC will be usable while I work on the other one. Hopefully it works out that way.

I am new to the AN world, my buddy has been using the stuff on my Dad's Buick and he really likes it, I want to do several lines with it, plus the fuel lines on all the bigger trucks are that style hose. Will have to find out for sure, but also looks like the air brake lines are made from the same hose and fittings. Might be my new obsession.

AN fittings get expensive fast. I don't know your plan for brake lines, but don't use braided lines for long runs, you'll end up with a mushy pedal CuNi lines are best for hard lines. Sorry if this is redundant info.

Air brakes, sorry, should have clarified.

Damn market place, someone posted some rotobins at a good price, then lowered the price two hours later. I am refraining, but man that is tough. Almost have the office setup to the point I feel good, still need to do data entry, but I can do that tomorrow morning.

heh... you prove my point, NJ has 4 areas and you can drive across it in 2 hours... Maine is literally a 7 + hour drive south to north. our largest county is slightly smaller then the state of NJ.
