Unfortunately since they sold the truck I wanted to buy for Dad, not sure I will buy another one, but maybe, if they would take $1500, I would probably do it.

Gotta ask. So do you just go to a propane dealer to fill up or do you need to go to a special vehicle station?

It depends on the location, some of the places will fill it, others won’t touch it. We have very few propane vehicle filling stations around here. The good thing is that I should be able to set it up like the Ford and run off the forklift tanks, that at least means I have a backup, but honestly if I plan things, the 80 gallon tank should get me well over 300 miles, I will have to get an idea of what it will get in the yard running the crane, but I suspect it will be decent enough. At this point I have to get Perk ready for the road trip to get the trailer I bought a couple weeks ago, once that is done, I will probably start prepping to install the knuckle boom on the BBQ truck.

All the propane filling locations here are caged ... couldn't get a vehicle near them. Their fill truck has a boom fill hose thing.

Fork lifts have removable tanks so that works.

Sounds like you have a plan... look forward to seeing everything assembled.

It is a terrible name though, I am sure we can come up with something better. I can’t wait until I end up with a hook lift truck, going to call that one Captain Hook. I am still torn on the second truck. I figure it will be gone soon, so I need to make up my mind. Would be great as a parts truck, don’t think it is going to be easy to get parts for this one, except through the dealer, at least when it comes to the engine.

I did talk to my Brother about the FWD crane, he is totally willing to give it to me, this means I can sell the C-70 crane instead of fixing it. Not that I don’t have to do the same repairs to the crane on the FWD, but it is a much cooler truck.

And no, I am not clicking on it. On my phone, it is really easy to click on something when you are trying to scroll or if it freezes for a bit, then thinks you clicked on something else. The worst part is people list stuff in miscellaneous, that has gotten me to accidentally click on a prom dress, they still try and sell me on a new dress, but I am fine with my old one.

Never purchased a blow up doll before, I have a live one at home.

Perk hasn't been touched, probably get working on it this weekend, I am figuring the wiring has an issue that allows the reverse lights to short out something that in turn engages the solenoid that shuts the fuel off to the engine.

I am sure they are not DOT legal, but they would be for on site use and in an emergency only.

Strouty, my brother-in-law in Mt. Desert has a propane tank for supplemental heat and his supplier refills it from a truck. Wouldn't it be the same for your truck? If not, have a big tank installed at The Hill and refill the truck from it. If you bought that last truck you could add its tank to your truck as part of the scrapping/recycling process. Six hundred miles is a pretty good road trip.

I was thinking about the second tank for the same reason. I do not know if there are laws about how much you can have for the truck power plant, could create a hazmat situation that I don’t want to tangle with.

I figure if they still have the last truck next Wednesday when I get back from Virginia, then I will make a low ball offer.

Unfortunately for you guys, Ann anything is not going to cut it for me, not a good choice for various personal reasons, sorry.

I have help a bit later today, going to see if disconnecting the reverse light switch at the transmission will stop Perk from stalling, seems like the likely culprit. If that is it, then I will pull Perk out so we can get the cutoff frame section dealt with and get it out of the shop completely, this will give us some more room, making everything easier.

The temps have warmed up a bit, it is almost zero now. Crazy low temperatures last night and tomorrow’s temps will be in the mid 40s, go figure.

I have used them for years. Never had a problem and mine sit out in the weather and get horribly abused.

I think it was a decent value, but man did the welds look like the person was blindfolded, either that or they decided to turn off the shielding gas.

Perk’s issue hasn’t to do with reverse lights and ignition switch, once we disconnected the reverse light switch, it started right up, unfortunately it wouldn’t shut off, so we had to hook it back up and put the trans in reverse to shut off the truck. Nest step is to figure out what really is causing it. Not sure if it is wiring or just a bad ignition switch.

Cleaned up some more **** at The Hill, starting to really look decent and feel like a usable space. Still have a ways to go, but I will take it slow and steady. Another couple months and we will be bringing Dad’s tool boxes to the lake house garage, that will free up a bunch more space for sure.

I also need to get those rods for the tower painted, then they can go outside, that will be helpful too.

I was just at both airports in DC last April. One to fly into and one to catch the shuttle to the Air and Space museum. If you get that close, you would be nuts not to take 4 hours for it.

Good luck with the propane truck! We have a bunch of 3/4t Ford vans with Roush lpg injection in the fleet I maintain. They eat oil like crazy; 1 qt per week or 300 miles. But, after all, they are Fords.

Hopefully Pane won’t eat oil, who knows, might be junk or might be fine. I did find some cab damage and also there are two stickers from Jasper, doesn’t say what they were for, but it may have already had an engine and transmission.

As for Virginia, it is a mercy mission, flying down at 5:50 AM, be home in Maine the same night, unless we have issues. Fingers crossed we don’t, I am not packing for anything more than the basics.

Looks like travel is going to be absolute **** the entire way home, they are calling for rain in the DC area, then it turns to mix and finally snow as we get closer to home. Can't wait, I am betting the tires will be "marginal" or worse. Should be fun, especially since I have never driven anything like this before, OMO is similar width wise, but this is about 15 feet longer and quite a bit taller, not to mention the fact that it is a brick on wheels. Might end up staying overnight somewhere in PA.
