A guy in Walmart two days ago was wearing his wifes (I hope) flowered knee high galoshes with a mask and Playtex elbow length gloves... nobody went near him.

Down here in NY we have a stay in place order till April 19. If it gets worse it will be extended. We have many essential business running from nursery as farming and Home Depot for construction. Food is returning to shelves as people realize you can only horde so much. But it is quiet driving about.

Lockdown isn't so bad for guys like you and me. I've been on semi lockdown for almost 2 weeks. Got plenty of projects that need work and that I have supplies for, and I'm guessing you're in the same boat. And be thankful, it's up to a $1200 fine in Michigan.

I live in a beach town... they are freaking serious about issuing fines to vacation home owners, who keep venturing out. Way too many cars on the road...
It is dead here. People are out and about in limited numbers. Many of the gas stations that were 24hour are closed.
No talk of fines.
It is definitely not dead here, plenty of activity, just no school and sit down restaurants.
Yesterday was not fun, I showed up at the Hill, unloaded some supplies, then Dad shows up, tells me he is having my Brother deliver the logs from the tower site so he can saw them on the sawmill. My Brother and I had a private discussion about these, he wanted to talk to Dad about the logs, I wanted him to just take them to the log yard, he said he couldn’t do it and had to talk to Dad, so I had to respect his decision. See, Dad thinks that sawing the hemlock planking for the dock project makes it better because the logs came from his land and he sawed them and all this pride ****. I too understand what he is saying, but in the end no one gives a **** about the island and last year he spent far too much time drinking around with **** and he missed several weeks of work time out there. Basically you have the tides and weather as the deciding factors for being able to do any work. You guys will get more on the dock project as we start to work on it. So in the end, we spent the entire day messing with the track crane and logs, then brought the little excavator over only to blow a hydraulic line about 15 minutes into the process, of course it was almost 7 PM by the time the line blew so we can’t get another one until Monday.
I went off track a bit, my point was, I showed up to do much needed office work, instead I spent 3/4s of my time messing with his fiasco and got the bare minimum done, made an even bigger mess of my shop trying to fix things, logs are now everywhere and we still have a pile of rotting logs from the last “project”. I tweaked my back pulling the fuel tank from the track crane and the worst part is I got no pictures of the stuff I was doing to show you guys. I will post some of the aftermath, but I think today is going to be totally screwed over because I am going to use my help to get the log loader going so we can actually move the logs the way normal people would move them.

I'm "locked down" in my winter abode in Florida, big deal for me is going to Home Depot for electrical parts and other supplies for kitchen cabinet project (sneaking out for an MC ride). I read what you go through almost daily and feel totally inadequate..

Well we started off not too bad, but now I have a trailer that I can’t get disconnected from Perk, trailer has no parking brake and I can’t chock the wheels well enough to get the fifth wheel to fully release. It doesn’t help that the ground is sand and I don’t get great traction either. We are going to try and chain the trailer to a truck parked near by, but this may end up being a bigger project than I would like it to be.
On another note, bought a bunch of electric and cordless snowblowers from Lowes, they were on clearance, figured they could be good for trailer decks or house decks, either way they were cheap enough.

I found the answer to your problems. Explosives. Lots of explosives. However you want to use them. If nothing else people will start leaving you alone.
We did get the trailer disconnected, had to chain the trailer from moving forward, then it would disconnect. The fifth wheel has some resistance due to the fact that the grease is pretty well dried up, will have to clean and regrease it before I go to New York to get the tack shop trailer. I am currently working on the lettering on Perk, when I get a chance I will post some pictures and info on what I got done yesterday, there was a lot of moving things and it was a long 13 hour day.
Don't rush down here the numbers keep going up radically.
I think you would qualify to quarantine for 14 days if you visit NY.

Not going to go to NY anytime soon, if I do it will be to an outlying area and I won't even have to interact with anyone, just hook up the trailer and go.
I am currently working on the lettering removal, just working on the hood for now, I think I want to take it outside for the doors, too messy inside, plus the smell isn't so good. The oven cleaner works pretty well, hopefully a good buffing will clean up the rest, but as always, you can still see the "shadow" of the paint, I think the only way to get rid of that is to sand to metal and repaint, not sure about the fiberglass, it may actually do better.
The picture above is from the drivers side, after five applications the passenger side has just a touch of red outline left.

Looks to be a ton of work.
It will be worth it.
I did make a boo boo, apparently the gel coat is not as thick on the nose as it was on the cab section, I wish I had started on the passenger side.
Those dark areas are essentially through the gel coat. Oh well.
I used the same setup on this panel first, it looks much better, wish the nose had been the same.
On the other side I have not buffed anything yet and this is what it looks like.

Tonight I ordered both the M18 Milwaukee buffet and the M12 polisher, they will be very useful for this and future lettering removal or reconditioning. I had the M12 polisher, but sold it when I bought the Snap On version, that was short lived, it died on the second use and my dealer said he had four others that were dead too quickly, he refunded my money, but I never replaced the M12 one.

I started off Saturday trying to get this started, got it to turn over and fire, but needed batteries and a choke cable, it will be useful dealing with the mess of logs everywhere.
Here is what the log situation looks like.
We decided to shuffle trailers instead of messing with the log truck.
Had to lift up this trailer since it had sank into the ground over a foot, trailer has been there for more than a decade.
Blew a hydraulic line on my outrigger, but it got the job done. This was the trailer we had the problems with, luckily it was the last one we messed with.
Tidied up this area, it is at the bottom of the Hill.
Now the top looks better, except for the logs, I still need to move some things, but I feel much better about it now.
The good thing is that I got to use Perk a bit and I am some glad I have the Detroit locker in the rear end, I would have been so stuck more than once. On a bad note, the 3.55 gears are too high, I think with a loaded trailer I would have to skip the clutch on a hill and that is not good at all. I have found another truck that has the proper transmission, but this damn corona **** is making it difficult to get it.

Go on eBay and order the die grinder collet for the m12 polisher... comes with 1/8" and 1/4" collets.
Thank me later... the guy custom machines them.
I trust your search abilities.
FWIW... the polisher uses an M9 thread... I have the tap and die... doubt many non arms dealers do.

I am a bit new to that one, it has no spark plugs, but it runs on gasoline.
Those vehicles are multi-fuel. It's a diesel. You should be able to set it up for diesel fuel. Check some military vehicle forums, maybe Steelsoldiers.com .

Of course, he didn't have to pay for this one, right? So it is kinda a free project, just needs a few parts...
It is set for gasoline for sure, even the tag says gasoline on the tag. I was going to pop in over at SS and read up on them. I figure there must be some adjustments if you want to run on diesel, might be the better option. Dad says it uses 10 gallons an hour, not sure if he is right, but it is a big engine.

Why do I have to change?
Ran a load to the scrap yard, 2700 pounds $54.72. Hasn’t been that bad in a long time.
Trying to get some more office **** out of the way, will need to move the entire office down to the house so we can rebuild the office. Should be nice when we get done.
