Tonight we cleaned, out tools and supplies away, moved a few things out of the shop. Looks much better now and will be easier to complete future tasks, still have more tools to put away, but it is a hundred times better now.

The watery **** is more like 15 or 20 gallons. Some is almost all water and super obvious, she is more oil and I was thinking of putting it into a clear container so I can draw off the oil easier. I want to make a lean tank with a drain on the bottom just for this purpose.

Been running errands most of the day, going to mess with Perk for a bit, need to see if I have any leaks, kind of looks like I may have to tear things apart and redo a couple fittings. :(

Tested the boom out, no leaks where I was worried, well no leaks anywhere. ;)

I can see a few hydraulic lines on the boom that need some protection sleeves and at least one that probably needs to be replaced. I also need to run all new wires for the lights at the end of the main boom, will be nice to have a spot light in the dark. At some point I have to clean up all the rust so I can do a bit of beautification to the boom, I saw a new truck today that had a nice blue knuckle boom on it, still thinking it might be nice to paint it blue like the frame, or I could go orange as a complimentary color to the blue frame.

The boom reaches the middle of the rear axle of the trailer, if I need to, I can always disconnect and move the truck, but it is nice to know I can lift a small car and set it way back there if I want to.

Also used a hood prop rod as a makeshift throttle, you just use the silver button to raise or lower the air seat to get more or less throttle, easy to reach and easy to setup. Still plan on a hand throttle, just wanted to see how it worked.

Back is not so good, yesterday was a long day and I have a spot that tightened up, but I took it easier today and have been heating things, I need to spend some more time stretching, fingers crossed it feels better soon.

Probably not, we are going to Mass to get the volvo truck on Sunday. I am still collecting parts for the trailer, should be getting the lights wired up temporarily this afternoon. All my parts should be in sometime next week. It is a complicated mess, there are multiple plugs and wires that need to be combined, so I am using a junction box, then adding new wires where they are needed, should make for a clean installation, but since I don't have all the parts, it is just making a mess right now, kind of frustrating. :(

I got to skate and play with a puck for an hour last night.
My body feels better than it has in weeks.

Lost another racing friend to C19.

It is hot out. Thankfully the trailer is now in the shade so I can actually try and do something with the lights and wiring.

Looking good Strouty.

Those split bank Lista look terrible and often fail plus they take up a lot of space. You should get rid of it. I heard you can call 1-800-lst-lsta to get them hauled off.

I bet I could find a couple guys to haul them away for sure. ;)

Yesterday turned into quicksand, seemed like the more I tried to do something, the less I got done. Today is looking a little better since I dealt with a bunch of BS yesterday. Still need to wire up the trailer lights and the main plug at the back of the truck. I would also really like to get the oil changed, but that seems to be one of those things that the more I want to do it, the less it happens. :(

So I heard a vehicle pull up the driveway, it was the mailman, they parked on the front lawn, waited a minute, then turned around and drove away. I couldn’t figure it out, when I went to get some lunch in the house it made even less sense. So the USPS thinks this is the appropriate place to deliver parcels???

See the box out on the front lawn, that is where it was delivered.

I guess.......

I finally got the trailer wiring and truck plug setup, it is almost completely temporary because I didn't have all my parts yet, but the good news is that the wiring on the trailer side isn't too bad, most of the damage was at the cable about two feet from the plug for the truck. I eliminated that and hooked a temporary junction box up, the trailer has a really nice junction box at the rear, it is all sealed and weather tight, but you can't buy the cords for it anymore, I was originally thinking I would eliminate it, now I am not so sure. It does need to be mounted better and where the lights connect up could be redone, they used **** connectors and no heat shrink, plus a few of the cables are so tight you can barely get the lights plugged in. In the end, it is a lot better than what it was when I started, had to replace a light and the harness, then clean four of the lights terminals up to get things working. The good part was they were already LEDs, so no need to upgrade anything.

If you had our mail carrier it might be out in a field in a different county. Every one is always getting everyone else's mail. I understand a package or two, but constantly mail is wrong.

FedEx delivered some tires I ordered. I was out front working on a truck, and I saw them pull in the driveway, but I couldn't immediately pop out to meet them. Almost as quickly as they pulled in they left. I figured they had the wrong address. Nope, I found my tires sitting in the ditch where they had thrown them. I was not happy.

Do you have a hot tub / spa/ jacuzzi ?

The house I live in had one on the deck when we bought it .
Helps my back a lot to soak in 104 degree water till I almost pass out from the heat.

That is strange on the mail. We have picky drivers out here, so I feel your pain. Good news on the wiring, Enjoy your trip today.

What a lazy *** post person!

At least Fedex/Ups will throw the package at the front door!:lol_hitti

Of course knowing you Strouty, that package was probably 69 lbs and as big as Usps allowed.

So now you need a dump bed so you can line it with plastic and fill it with hot water?

Trip went fine, truck was a total piece of ****, ended up buying the transmission only, they will remove it and I will pick it up with the burb. Stinks that the guy said the rears were good and usable, the rust was so bad that I don’t even thing you could use them for cores. He couldn’t even get the engine going, so I just said not interested and we made a deal for the trans, it could have gone a lot worse, but he actually refunded some of my deposit and then chipped in $60 for fuel. Perk got about 7.5 MPG and it was idling for about an hour while we waited for them to mess with the truck.

I may have the boat moving trailer sold, supposed to be picked up tomorrow morning early. I tried to move it with the Mitsu, didn’t work, destroyed a $150 strap in the process. :(

The guy that bought it is another GJ member, the truck he sent was beautiful, loud, but beautiful, must have had 12" straight pipe stacks.

I am back at the Hill, was going to do a bunch of driving back and forth moving things around, but I decided that I am going to do a few things around the shop. I really want to get the oil changed in Perk and also need to get a few parts ordered so I can start dressing up the front end a bit. I have decided that there is no way I am ever using the forklift setup for the front, so I am going to start removing the extra parts for it, the plan will be to setup a winch there instead. This will free up the cab space between the seats too, that is where the controls are. I will be relocating the PTO switch to the dash, also need to rewire and plumb several things that the original owner never got around to.

Finally a big winch hanging off the front. Toss it on Perk, then move it over to OMO once that’s up and cruisin.

I got Perk warmed up, pulled inside, setup the new drain pan, drained the oil....

I don't have a filter wrench that is the right size :(

I have bigger ones and smaller ones, but not the correct size one, hope I can get my star wrench to work, guess I need to buy some new filter wrenches.

The amount of effort to set it up and seems excessive, I am sure I can but a decent propane powered forklift that I will be able to pick up and bring with me. The knuckle boom is the ticket anyways, they make pallet forks for them too, just need a nice rotator and it will be more versatile than having the forks on the front of the truck.

I am currently into the belts, trying to get things off so I can get the right parts at NAPA, so far taking off the fan belt is proving to be a RPITA thanks to the crank driven hydraulic pump for the forklift. I am going to have to completely remove the pump to get the shaft out so the belt can be replaced. I am probably just going to pull everything out so I can rework things anyways.
