Technically we don’t need a title if older than 1995, so I would have been ok, but it was all the little things that just told me to wait.

Didn’t get much done today, but I also slept like **** last night. I have some help this evening, hopefully I can redeem myself. ;)

So far we had the snap on guy show up, we got ice cream, and now we are getting dinner, I think I am going to lose my street cred.

I did at least get the 550 jacked up, I love the built in jacks, only issue and I am glad I found out no, you need spacers to get the wheels off the ground.

I did get the front off the ground, just forgot to snap a pic, she is a heavy *****, my little jack didn’t really cut it.

The rams are being repacked so the steering works properly, took a BFH and a cold chisel to get the pin out to remove the second ram.

The 550 has a plan now, going to remove the backpack box and headboard, then sell the box and rework the headboard a bit. Then everything will have to be custom from there.

I have a heavy duty air jack, but it is really not for this truck. For now I will probably just go get a HF 4 ton, but I really want a Milwaukee 4 ton, I will probably order one, usually there is a wait for them.

Remember the government auction I was talking about? I have a 10ton long body that I got (walker?) One for about $200 and another for closer to $300. Of course both are down in MD at a buddy's. He picked them up for me.
I'd look for a long body for your truck work.

I have a couple, they take up so much room that I just can’t justify them. A 4 ton will do most of what I want, then I need a much heavier duty one and the air over hydraulic one seems to fit the bill, I think it will pick 35 ton. I expect to have a set of column lifts in the not to distant future, that will solve most all of my issues. ;)

My old 2 1/2 ton is starting to leak a little, but still holds pressure. And it doesn't like picking up the back of the dump truck. So seeing as I plan on putting a heavier motor, in a heavier frame, and possibly a longer/heavier box, I'll be needing something significantly stouter. On top of which the new build should hopefully be sitting close to the ground. Time for a new jack.

For the money, HF has the best bang for the buck and generally, if it works out of the box, it works for a long time. The 4 ton will lift either end of Clark and that says a lot. The 4 ton Milwaukee is awesome, but also about $1500 delivered if you can even get one. They are a lifetime purchase, I have been on the hunt for a used one for a long time, but it may end up being a buy once cry once deal.

This week is going to be mostly office, I do need to pick up a trailer from the SG and try and get things ready for my next trip, have to pick up the latest knuckle boom in NY, hopefully we can make it attach to the trailer, if not, I will have to lay it down horizontally. Then I will have to have Dad’s help to get it mounted, otherwise I can’t pick it up.

Today I ordered my drone along with supplies for it, ended up going with the DJI Mavic 2 Zoom and the controller. I also bought a set of filters, some extra batteries, case, and the warranty. Not sure yet when it will arrive, but I hope to have it sometime soon so I can start playing around with it a bit before the tower removal job happens.

I ordered a DJI charger that does multiple batteries, I am sure others would work fine, but I liked the way it folded up.

This morning I am working on the 550 with some help, also got the ramp truck back (finally), so I have to deal with the forklift from a couple weeks ago. Tomorrow got screwed up and instead of going to NY, I am going to Massachusetts to look at dump trailers. I am not sure if the NY knuckle boom is going to even happen at this point, the guy doesn’t want to talk on the phone and I have asked for his number and given him mine. Not sure exactly why either, I don’t think it is a scam or anything, but it is weird. :(

The leaves are all turning bright colors, so I know the snow is on its way and that is frightening.

Scheduled the crane for the tower removal, looks like October 15th, hopefully I will have the crew and good weather. Also want to use the drone if possible.

Just like jaws waiting to strike.
I observed 65 degrees of water temp yesterday a week ago it was 75. I showed 65 degrees in October last year. So it could be getting colder sooner.
My Montauk Daisy's are starting to bloom a little sooner than last year.

Been getting the ski racing emails warning to get ready for upcoming season.:rocker:

I need at least until November 1st without any snow........

I would rather have the first and last snow on December 25th. ;)

Looks like the forklift will make a decent unit, there is a small amount of fluid under one area, but I can't tell if it is because of an actual leak or from run off, the forklift was tilted for a while on the back of the truck. Once I get it cleaned, I will know where the leak is or if there is actually one. In the end, I will have two decent running units and one for spare parts. I think that is the best way to deal with them, then I can scrap the batteries to recoup some of the money I have invested.

Also found another trailer that may be a good buy for the time being. Not nearly as heavy duty as the big ones, but will hold its own for sure. That will be a next week deal anyways.

I just had a wasp kiss me......

Luckily there was no stinging involved. They are out since it is warmer today and one tried to fly into my mouth, actually hit my lips, scared me a bit, not sure what that would feel like, but I imagine it wouldn't feel good. :(

Ran into a huge 8 point axle bolt that I am not equipped for, my buddy had to go to his place to grab it, so we are at a stand still. Front brakes are done and I suspect we will get the rear done today too.

I used to be able to crush them after I was stung. About twenty years ago I got stung on hand and it swelled up to elbow, I every time since I have been stung the swelling is worse. So my immunity to them them is gone a good attack and I could be dead.

We got the brakes done, still had the clicking noise, I finally figured out what it was, the boom has an angle indicator and it slaps back and forth making a clicking noise. I couldn’t believe that was the noise, at least I figured it out. Glad we did the brakes, the pads were sad and the rear wheel seals were starting to leak, so this needed to be done. Also found that the ebrake shoes have core charges???

Temporary fix.

The 550 needs injectors, bad, might get those done next week. It starts like it is sub zero at 50 degrees. Then I have to rework the hydraulic tank and headboard, after that I will consider it stable. Then comes all the fun stuff, tool boxes, hydraulic reels, and integrated storage solutions for all.

Went and bought a little dump trailer today, another 8 hours with my friend Perk. We rolled over 6666.6 miles on the way home, going to need a new truck soon, really racking up the miles. ;)

Dump trailer will need some work, but it is useable right now, except that Perk can’t run it yet, but that is only a small issue. :)

It needs a couple tires, maybe a hub, but it hauled nice on the way home. Tarp was shot and had to be cut loose to keep it from flying around on the way home. I also have to wire up a switch for the tarp control, will be figuring this stuff out in the next couple weeks.

I have no clue how many yards, I will only be able to haul something stupid like 10 yards, Perk is pretty light duty. ;)
:scared::wtf:

The Girlfriend hauls about 3 yds, and she's an old, tired, '82 c30. I'm not doubting you, that just seems awful light. Then again, it's not really a class 8 truck is it?

I don’t know how much it weighs, registered weight is 69k, but that includes the trailer and truck. We are guessing that Perk weighs close to 25k empty, trailer is probably around 12k that makes 37k and then 10 yards is 30k ish. That puts it right there. I need to get things weighed, especially need to know what the distribution is, front is only rated for 12k, so I may be fuct before I start. :(

I figure I am not running around all the time, so as long as I can get the load moving, I can probably haul a lot more.

Just found out my 18 speed trans is out of the donor truck, going to try and pick that up this week. Perk will be much happier with that trans. I also need to change rear end gears again, the 18 speed will make the truck capable of 90 MPH or better, so top gear would be useless. I would rather do 80 and have more gear on the low end. Haven’t done the math yet.
