The worst part is that we paid a crazy amount of rental, they would not sell the fence to us. Next time I am going to rent it, if I know it will be a while before we are returning it, I am going to say someone stole it, then pay for it and have it for future use. It is over and done with, been over two years that it was “temporary”.

The rental places don’t sell the fence, unless you destroy it, I tried. We needed it “temporarily”, see how that went? It would have been about $1500 to buy what we rented, we paid about $800 (including damage) and I hope we never build another tower again. ;)

Today was another headless chicken ordeal, got everything lined up and ready for tomorrow’s battle: wood removal from the Quonset hut. I have a local GJ member’s help, then Wednesday I have another member coming to get some of the beams too. I did get a load of trash to the dump and two trips to the scrap yard with the little dump trailer for a total of $50. :(

If you find a spare rough terrain forklift let me know. I need one too. Nice progress. More than me. [emoji22]

My buddy brought his leaf sucker up and we took a trailer load of leaves off the lawn, then we loaded his truck up with some of the split firewood, probably four more loads and he will have it all. ;)

I am about beat, tomorrow always seems to come sooner than you want. :(

Tomorrow should be another productive day, I have also lined up help for next week so I can get the tower decommissioned completely. That will be a huge relief and also a good chunk of change for the “trailer fund”. ;)

Leaves - Uggggggghhhhhh !
I’ve been working on cleaning up leaves for 2 days. Probably have another 2 before I’m done. Mower and vac trailer keep giving me problems. Had to straighten a bent mower blade because of hidden rocks that pushed up, then ran over the vac hose when it pulled out. Mow, stop, mow, stop, rinse, wash, repeat. I HATE LEAF SEASON !

Lucky for me, my neighbor had gathered most around the rock wall, then my buddy has a huge leaf sucker and he brought half his freaking family, so it was 30 minutes and all the leaves were gone. I still have some residual, but I am just going to mow over those.

Yup, I was up fairly early, still at the Hill now, headed home soon. Tomorrow will be another fairly early day.

Today was a blast, right up until the turbo in the 550 let go, then it was a bit of a mess. Of course it was loaded with a trailer loaded with wood, on the side of a hill, on a busy road. :(

Luckily my brother lived close by and came over with another truck to rescue the trailer, then I had the 550 towed to the repair shop to assess the carnage. Other than that the day was great. ;)

That thought has crossed my mind. :(

Hopefully nothing eventful happens today, I just want to clean up the rest of the wood and have the space back in the Quonset hut. My cousin took a ten of the tires for his projects, that helped out for sure, some are slated for my trailers, so those will be headed to the SG and there are a few more that are probably headed to the dump.

Today is a late start day, yesterday was a fun day spent with Jack Stand, he got the tour of DG when we brought the Virginia (think it should just be the Virgin?) Burb over there so it was out of the way of what we were doing. We were trying to figure out how to easily load it, Jack Stand had a great idea and it worked well, we just backed the trailer under it after using the two forklift method.

This was the load that broke the 550. ;)

I spy with my little eye a John Deere 140 H3 on a pallet. Great machine. Have a 1968 model myself. What's your story?

I was saying the exact same thing myself, then I scroll down and see your post lol. I was having a hard time telling if it was H1 or 3 but yes, a palletized 140 with weights and a mowerdeck.

It definitely made loading the burb easy. ;)

Today’s load.

Looking much better, still have a bunch more stuff to move, but it is getting easier with every trip to the dump or wood delivery.

Luigi is going to mad, that they weren't used to lift the burb.

I have never commented or looked at another's man wood before, but that is quite nice looking wood you have there.

Thanks for the help Orion, don’t blame you one bit. I am loading some pallet rack, then I am moving a few things back into the Quonset hut, just in case it rains down here.

My mechanic co firmed 550 turbo is DOA, he said it actually broke the shaft in half, but nothing broke up and went into the engine or anything like that. Should be done worst case by Monday, but he hopes sooner.

Tomorrow I hope to get a few more things moved out of the Quonset hut, then I would like to get over to the SG and start cleaning up there while Clark is still there.

My brake controller for Perk should be in on Friday, so maybe I can have that setup to haul the new tilt deck trailer, I want to use that for the burbs and the forklifts.

Last night I did a couple things, but I figured it was too dark to load the pallet racking, I am used to Clark, lots of lights, Guido is not there yet. ;)

I will get the racking moved this morning, then I am going to make another dump run. Won’t be the last one, but close to it. :)

Then I am meeting my Brother, need to drop off his truck and trailer and he is bringing me back to the Hill. From there I will do a little cleanup and put the Marooka and the small concrete mixing trailer inside. I will still have to move the Mack and some other things, but that can be done on another day and there will be plenty of room in the Quonset hut at that point, that makes me happy.

Much easier in the daylight.

2a1c5935270fcdb87a0bdca40c2c15ba.jpg

Only issue is, first thing this morning, picked up some stuff to toss in the dump trailer, back said “stop!” Now I am having a mild spasm that I am sure will get more fun as the day goes on. Can’t stop yet, but will need to slow down for sure. Lots of paperwork to do, so I will be able to take it easy tomorrow. ;)

Amazing how simple jobs, turn in to O-$hit ones. Glad nothing bad happened when your truck died on you. Hope this is the last time it's in the repair shop!

Just got done at the dump, now waiting to pick up some parts for my Brother. Dump was a zoo this morning.

Pallet rack is all inside, now I can deal with that in crappy weather if needed. Still have to move things to the more permanent location, but that can happen next week. I am on Hill Cleanup Hiatus.

Next area that I would like to tackle is under and behind the wood shop.

Looks like a good job for the chipper Ned was working on.
I just finished stacking up my share of the Hill's bounty. Is there one more stack of timbers before I cover it up?

At this point I think I am calling it quits until spring. Then I want to look over all the beams under the wood shop and the outdoor ones, some actually look like they may be ok.

I literally watched the UPS guy take the time to get out a plastic bag, then put the box in it rather than open the door and put the package inside the porch. I am thinking about making a sign that says something like “auditions for laziest delivery person, leave resume on steps, all others leave packages inside.” :(

df55dac93f92405ddcbfba9cd32b2340.jpg

And yes, it is very clear that this is an entry porch and not the front door. Even our mailbox is inside the porch.

Today has devolved, I am now at home and will be taking a break, my back and I are arguing again. Seems like no matter how hard I try, my back always wins. ;)
