550 is on hopefully the last test drive, mechanic said after new turbo was installed it still didn’t make any boost, so he did some more messing with it. Old turbo looks like it has been bad for a while. All the damage was on the exhaust side, so you wouldn’t normally see it.

Looking good! I would suggest getting a second monitor for your Mac/PC. Trust me you will love it! Keep email open on one side/work, then the other monitor fully dedicated to GarageJournal![emoji106][emoji38]_hitti

But seriously, it is very, very nice having dual monitors.
Try triple monitors. [emoji3][emoji869]

Mechanic also got my old Mohawk lift up and running, nice to see it useful instead of holding down one of my trailers.

The Mohawk was one I sold/traded.

I technically did get a lift back, to my other truck after I drove the 550 to the Hill. ;)

Today has been a mess, paperwork went until about 2, then I had to go to the bank, then Dad tried to start a war with a neighbor and I had to call a truce. I am meeting with the neighbor tomorrow, they have a couple guys that went rogue and started taking gravel, dirt, and stone from our property. I have been there myself, sometimes you think you are doing the right thing and end up being totally wrong. Dad went all accusing, so the neighbor didn’t like the attitude or the fact that Dad was calling him a thief, trespassing and stealing our material, you can guess how that went. :(

I hope so, but Dad was all mad when I told him I didn’t think he should come with me tomorrow, we will see. At least after a ten minute nite discussion Dad came to the conclusion that he should probably hang back and maybe even apologize to the guy, I agreed, but think he should wait a couple days.

Hope you can smooth things over with the neighbor. Hopefully it was a honest mistake. Is there some way to mark the property line clearly so they know in the future?

I think the caliber of worker the guy is hiring has something to do with it, I do not think the neighbor had anything to do with it, but when they drive the backhoe up to the tower, went to one side of the building and took some of our 3/4” stone from an obvious pile, there was clearly some intent. You don’t just find random piles of 3/4” stone. Regardless, Dad handled the situation poorly, this is why I try and keep him away from customers and lease negotiations.

This is the first pile they took dirt from, no big deal at all.

This is the pile of crushed stone they took most of, at least one full bucket, probably two.

This is the pile that makes me mad, it was actually a ramp, compacted well, we would back dump trucks up it and dump over the backside so we could store a lot more material in a compact area. They had to work at getting this material and it was clearly not a dirt pile.

WTF Rather obvious theft. What’s next for them? Maybe “borrow” those trailers? They just seem to sitting there.

The guys running the equipment were told by another guy that their boss (the neighbor) owned everything, including the tower. Obviously someone got something wrong along the way, they are going to fix the ramp (will be curious how that turns out) and then at some point they will bring a couple yards of crushed stone back. Now everyone is on the same page and they all know where the property line is and not to eff with our piles.

On another note, I forgot that today was power swapping day, so the Hill shop has no power at all until this afternoon. It is a super cold day, coldest it has been this season, and the electrician's guys are on the backside (no sun) of the shop, a bit windy too. Glad I don't have to do too much outside, at least not that I know about. ;)

I just wrapped up the office paperwork and sent over the P&L reports for all companies to the bank, hopefully we can get our line of credit established, not having one right now is killing me. It usually gets used from October until April, then paid off in May, we had to close it because of a legal issue with a new contract for one of the towers (long boring story), so I have been without it for a while and it *****, Dad has taken his sweet time to get his personal documents done (almost two months) and now he is mad at the bank. :(

I can't win, ever.........

Gonna be a toasty 10 degrees up here tonight.

I have plenty of spare rocks if you need some. Some crushing required.

I bet you do!

I am waiting for the PoCo to get done, then I will get to see if the electrician did everything he was supposed to do (I am giving him virtual $hit) ;)

After that is confirmed, I am headed to Jackstand’s homestead to unload the rest of the wood from the 550.

Been really windy the last few days, took the freaking top four feet of that “self cleaning” chimney.

I also think we all wish it wasn’t so cold, about 15 here this morning, much colder in other areas, but I am still complaining. Of course tomorrow is supposed to be back into the 50s. :(

I like that temp, but 30 plus degree swings screw with my system.

It was cold, but Jackstand came over and helped all day, hardly even complained, except something about food and not starving him like last time.......

;)

We got a load of random stuff from the Hill over to the SG for winter storage, then we spent a lot more time than I want to admit getting that suburban unloaded from the trailer. The entire time, all I could think was, " I wish I had a tilt deck trailer, one with a winch, yeah, that would be nice". :(

Maybe I can get the brakes setup and the winch working so I can use the new trailer instead of looking at it while driving by the bottom of the Hill. I did get most all my parts in today, so hopefully I can get the brake controller installed this weekend. If I can just get it functional, I can haul the rest of the burbs back to the SG. Plan is to stuff the shop with as many burbs as I can. :) That should give me something to do for the winter......

It was a good day, but then I counted trucks and trailers between all locations, 48! I got to start working on that number, it is way too low ;)

Seriously, I have to get some stuff gone.

I remember thinking to myself a few months back that you had blown past my 28 things with tires. It was about the time you were running into dead batteries on everything. ""Welcome to my world" being the main thought.

Well, this morning when headed to the Hill, I remembered the cement truck, willing to bet there is more and I won't remember until I see it. Anyways...

Working on the hydraulic tail trailer, trying to get the last section of ramp off, looks like it is going to be a bear. I may have to cut things a lot more than I originally anticipated. I am headed out to do some errands and pick up some parts, was supposed to go to the SG this morning, but the bank needed paperwork and Dad needs to sign things, so I have to take care of that ASAP.

Torching rusty metal, still has me perplexed as to why it won't oxidize at all, it just melts like a blob and drops off what you are trying to cut. Luckily only a little was rusted that badly, I now have the ends freed up. Have to weld on some 3/4" pipe fittings so I can get my heavy slide hammer on there, then I will try heat, but I think I am going to need to cut slices in some of the tubes.

Rust IS oxidation, so you're trying to oxidize something that is already oxidized when you're torching the rust. Think of it this way - when using an oxyacetylene torch you're taking good metal and rapidly rusting it and then blowing it out of the way with the force of the gas. If its already rusted that process doesn't work the same, so you're just melting the rust, which is why it just falls off in big goobers.

Got the bank and signature stuff done, errands mostly complete, just in time for dark. :(

I ended up picking up the hydraulic pumps, valves, tank, and PTO for Perk, it was a bit less than originally anticipated, but I expect the costs to climb as soon as I start setting things up. The hoses and fittings usually cost as much as the pumps do, when I get done, the knuckle boom should work much better and then I will also have auxiliary hydraulics for the dump trailer, also be able to operate tools and other equipment through the same port. I just don't know if I want to install things now or wait until later, the transmission has to get swapped, but I need to rebuild the one that is going into Perk, they are identical transmissions (13 speed currently, 18 speed to go in), so it won't be a total waste, just a little extra effort when swapping the trans. I have to think about it for a bit, would be nice to have the boom operating the way it should, but it does work and I am a bit light on funds right now, good thing I have 51 vehicles/trailers or I would feel poor.....

Color me surprised, I took Guido around the house and dropped off the Lista bench cabinets without spinning or getting stuck. I don’t think I would try it if it was wet, but just left some indentations where the tires were.

These only have one drawer each, they are still over at the SG, should be decent enough once I get things cleaned up.

27fc1a157a0af1eb006fb2105faa9028.jpg

It is much more damp than I thought in this space, the burb seats are covered in mold, will have to wash them off and find a better place to store them. Might just need a dehumidifier, only time will tell.
