You don't actually think I was suggesting plug-in units do you?
Apparently I need to type all the words in my head instead of skipping a few as they make their way to my fingertips on the keyboard, but as a brand, BatteryTender makes solar units, which is what I was alluding to. Only a crazy man would run the amount of extension cords Strouty would need for plug in units.

I wasn't aware of their solar because I don't really need it, and I have more plug-in units than I need.

Just did some troubleshooting on the generator at one of the tower sites, it appears that it doesn’t shut off after power is restored or after it “exercises”, we happened to catch it today and shut it off manually. The thing is almost out of fuel again, so I need to setup a decent transfer tank with a pump. At this point it appears it needs the engine controller and it a switch, but the switch actuated some solenoids, that makes me think controller. The generator guy says controller, I told him to replace both. At least it appears that I fixed the fuel leak by tightening the injector lines. I am going to get the proper size wrench and leave it down in the generator. Then if it runs out again, I don’t have to find the right wrench.

I am headed home, got a couple projects to do tonight, assuming I can find the ambition.

Have a friend who ran solar on his boat batteries. Worked for a bunch of years. My school of thought with boat and race car batteries is replace yearly.
I had a race car starting battery also used as a phone charging station charged by a solar cell did fine for the season I used it. Never charged it otherwise.

I agree. It's too cold to be outside working for very long. Not to the point where we should be hibernating, but close enough that we should be inside a heated house or shop, tinkering. I'm trying to get the oil drain from out of the turbo on the daughter's Cruze (bad coolant feed line) that's parked outside the shop, so I feel your pain. I hope you get more rest tonight.

Definitely getting some rest tonight.

Changed the shower head, been leaking for a year. Changed the front storm door latch and closer, latch broke last week, closer has been a problem for a while too.

Just ate dinner, trying to relax for a bit before bed.

Pictures from Friday before the storm. Drone pics are from before I finished moving trailers/trucks, I just wanted to get something while I had daylight.

Had to use Perk to lift up the red trailer to get the tires back on.

Just put one set on, seemed fine for the 200’ move. ;)

Parked it out of the way.

Nice not to have it out front!

I did move the junk F-550 next to the red trailer afterwards, but you get the idea. Hopefully that will get picked up this week, one more thing gone.

Had to go and get my chains, they were at the tower site, not in the trailer like they should have been.

Got to use the new binders, they are awesome and if they stay oiled, they should be much better than anything I have used before. The handles fold down once you ratchet them tight.

Got the shop bay cleaned out and ready for Perk.

After delivering Clark and putting the trailer at the bottom of the Hill, Perk got tucked in safe from the storm.

The SG is a postage stamp in the middle of houses, it is a crazy little grandfathered commercial lot. That is why I try and keep noise to a minimum before noon on weekends and holidays.

Kev, I didn’t technically own the SG until this June, so I had not done the roof because I wanted to make sure the deal went through (my attorney had a couple concerns) next year I will be putting some more money into the infrastructure.

Going to bed at 9:40 was too late, need to go to bed at 8:40 to make 4 AM work. :(

The new shower head is awful, it looks nice, it has decent spray patterns, but it makes this awful whistle when the water is at full pressure. Had to turn it down to the point it was more of a dribble than a spray. Back to square one in that, hopefully there won’t be anything funny with the storm door latch. :(

I have a meeting this morning with the plow guy for one of the tower sites, we need to work out how we are going to plow everything now that the site has changed a bit.

After that, I plan on prepping the tanks and the rest of the scrap so I can get that load taken away. Hopefully my internet is back at the office, I really want to get some things done in there.

Met with the plowing contractor, he wants an area leveled out a bit, so I will try and do that before the Mitsu leaves. We are now on the same page with plowing and sanding. ***** that I have an hour of driving for 10 minutes of meeting, but it is much clearer in person than trying to describe things over the phone or in an email.

The batteries I swapped into the 5 ton did the trick, it is mid 20s here and it started up fine. Going to move it out of the way, it is clear that we won’t be taking it away this winter.

I just saw a mouse running away from the truck, guess they don’t like it when it is running. ;)

I got the all the wheels freed up on the trailer, so I may be able to get it out this year. That was my biggest issue, I don’t have a rigger enough knuckle boom (yet) to pick the trailer and load it, now I can just haul it to the scrap yard, unless dad has changed his mind again.

Thanks for the air pictures, that really puts your area in perspective. I can't believe how many vehicles are on your property. That really helps explain the day you spent moving and parking a bunch of vehicles and trailers in perspective!

Once the area is all leveled out, it will be a game changer for sure, right now there are low spots and high spots that make it tough to get things in and out. I don’t plan on having as many trucks/trailers next winter, but I do plan on having a nice flat area that can be used appropriately.

Got a new shower head, no more whistle! Also got to the Hill and the internet is operational, so back in business there. I think I may just do office work today, the next few days are supposed to be warmer and I still have outside things to get done.

I had a new shower head that had a few streams of water that shot out to the side, very annoying. It was fixed when I removed the water saving flow restrictor. Which I was removing anyway because I prefer the water to do more than dribble out.

SG looks good from on high.

I hadn't thought about pulling the flow restrictor out, wonder how hard it is to get to.

Thanks on the comments, everything is a work in progress, probably will be until I die. :(

I bought a quality one online. It's solid brass and chrome plated with no pot metal anywhere, The restrictor was in the inlet and was easily removed with an Allen wrench. It has a side lever to adjust the stream, and it will almost take the hide off me.

Strouty, Pretty easy to get it out. You can disassemble a truck and all those hydraulicy things, you will have no problem.

Water savers only make you take a longer shower as the water is too slow to get the soap off fast.

The last apartment I had, they even decided how hot your shower was allowed to be. When I got my current place, first thing I did was take the water saver out and turn the hot water heater to the "scald" setting. I'm a middle aged single guy, I think I know how to adjust the shower temperature, I don't need someone else to keep me safe.

I think with all of the vehicles I have, an aerial of my place would look a little like yours. We need to downsize.

Link? I was looking at speakman units.

I am about out of steam today, I think I wore myself right out this weekend. Having trouble concentrating on anything, and my eyes are trying to close as I work on the office type stuff. I am eating lunch now, it will either make things better or worse. I may just go home with a bit of paperwork, that I can enter as I go. I need to pace myself, last weekend was essentially three days in two.

It's been so long ago that I don't have the link. It had a lever on the side and I paid about $40 for it.

Note to self, don’t try and take a nap at the Hill, now I feel like my knee is broken, twice as tired as before, and my toes are frozen. I am really going home now.

it is tough when the ground is uneven, but having them lined up makes plowing much better.

I went to the bank to deposit checks (not mine unfortunately), now I am home, three of four boxes of goodies arrived today. I am guessing the last one may end up never showing up, they are 25 pound miscellaneous boxes of used pipe fittings, I had an eBay credit and there was a sale going on. Still not sure how they made any money, but they sold them for $20.40 with free shipping. The amount of heavy duty tape and the cost of the shipping and eBay fees must have made these expensive to ship. Even at a discounted rate the large flat rate priority mail boxes are over $18 and then the fees would have been about $3, that is $21. I feel like the seller screwed up, should have shipped 50 pounds in each box, or at least 33 pounds in each of three boxes, and if this last box doesn't show up, they may have to eat that, especially if they didn't have insurance. The new auction listing shows $160 each or if you buy 4, it drops to $96 each, I paid a bit over $80 for all four.

Those are funny. My plan was to hope that I got some usable parts, it was like a fun grab bag. Fittings are not cheap these days, hopefully I will end up with some gems. I will open up the boxes tomorrow.
