I will probably wait to do the roof after I make a deal with my Dad to buy the place, if we can’t make the deal, no way am I putting a roof on it.

I think he will be doing the asphalt portion, so I doubt he will do the steel. There are several extra panels covering rotting wood, so I probably have most of the material for it.

No progress, seems like motivation is expensive right now, can't afford it...........

I have been trying to unload the burb for a few days, can't seem to wrap my head around it, I unload a few things, then get sidetracked, then have to leave or do something else.

I am pretty sure that I haven't really planned anything for a while (except that job), I am being reactive versus proactive and it *****. :(

I have a mess in every office I work out of, not one shop space I have can be used, every vehicle I own has an "issue", even my GF's car has problems that suddenly became mine, it is my fault and I know it. I need to start taking control of things a bit more, looks like the biggest issue being able to get up early and get out of the house. My GF has a rotating schedule and we are on the bad portion, she takes over the only bathroom in the house from 5:15 am to 6:30, my preferred and most productive wake up time is 5:30 am, without two showers, we just haven't been able to make it happen. So for the last 6 months, I get one month that is productive (GF goes to work at 10 AM) and the next month is total ****, I end up going to bed later, getting up later, wasting time, all around it is a terrible experience and there is no changing things on her end. I have to get up at 4 AM to make things work for both of us (we need a gap in shower times due to hot water), I don't want to do this, because I need to go be asleep at 9PM to make this happen and with the warmer weather and more daylight, it is going to be a problem. I also have to shower in the morning, I am a hot sleeper and there is a lot of sweat, so I do not want to start my day off like that. Without getting up at 4AM, I can't be to the Hill until 8 AM at the earliest, this doesn't include if I want to stretch or eat breakfast, so I usually end up going to bed at midnight, waking up at 7:30AM and getting to the Hill about 9:30AM, it feels like the day is over already compared to being here at 7AM, plus my motivation is all screwed up.

I hope to have the office upstairs at the Hill done by July, then I can use the shower up there, that way I can leave the house earlier and get going with my normal day.

Seems like an upgraded hot water heater would solve a lot of your issues. Or cold showers!

I think we're all feeling that way though. Must be the time of the year.

Best of luck getting it all figured out.

Strouty, why not throw in a tankless on demand water heater and then you don't have to worry about recovery time? Get up just slightly earlier and shower before she takes over the bathroom. Head out of the house when she leaves or before. Seems like the cost would be more than offset by an increase in your productivity and your overall mood.

After being a morning showerer for 50 years, I cut my hair short and now shower in the evenings. Washing up in the morning is 2 minutes vs a shower and I can get as dirty as I want as late as I want now.
My old roommate in my young years was an evening showerer. "why would I get in bed dirty?" was his mantra.
Of course, in the Summer it may be two showers a day.

I am borderline two showers a day as is, I sweat a lot and some nights are worse than others. This morning I could have gotten out of bed and been OK, except yesterday was a take it easy day and I didn't shower. No way do I want to leave the house after two days without a shower....

On demand heater would work, except we are electric only, so not sure how efficient those are. Will still have to research things.

I did get the burb unloaded, although there is a bit of a mess in the shop now, can deal with that tomorrow, I have to get going now.

If the shower is that big a bottle neck, wouldn't the additional expense be well worth any cost? 3-4 months is a TON of lost efficiency. Don't buy another piece of equipment or upgrade for 2 months and it's paid for.

When i built the house, i put in a 105 gallon hot water tank. The convenience far outweighs the small amount of energy additionally used. It's a german tank. It's got like 3 inches of foam on it. doesn't even heat up the mechanical room. We've never run out of hot water in 11 years with 4 people in the house, sometimes even showering at the same time.

edit: and don't go there, there's 3 shower heads in this house.... lol.

The math still adds up to someone having fun if that statement is to stand as written.:pimpflash

I think I could upgrade the water heater without a huge issue, recovery time is about 30 minutes at this point. As far as the bottleneck, my GF takes over the entire bathroom, the kitchen, and most of the hallway, I just need to stay out of her way.........

In a house that used to have up to 6 women, I understand your pain. Brush teeth in the kitchen sink, sneak in a quick shower, shave at night, chamber pot. Problem solved.

I was going to add that my ex BiL has a shower with two heads. I mean shower heads! But I figured I'd leave that one alone.

Wow, three shower heads!
How big is this shower?

The master bath has 2 shower heads on opposite ends of a about 4' x 6' shower stall. I designed it so wife and i could shower concurrently if we needed to. I like temp a lot hotter than she does. The other bath has a single normal shower. 3 people concurrently can shower, although it doesn't happen much.

Benefit is i don't have anyone messing with my shower head or temps.

Hey this is Strouty's thread, nothing to see here... move along.

You go to the "head" of the class.
Could not resist that. Lol
I'll leave quietly now.
I have to try to raise the right hand side of my QST sign.

I am really glad I wasn't having trouble with a toilet............

You just gave us a idea!

Since you have that big shower with three heads and it’s been determined there’s plenty of room to dance in, I’d mount that good toilet right in the middle of the shower.
Just of those long *** days, bone tired, almost too tired to stand up in the shower, just sit down, knock out two birds (or three) with one stone. You could position one of the heads to eliminate the need for toilet paper!
And the recreation value!!!!:lol_hitti:lol_hitti:lol_hitti

OK , I’m going back to my shop now to count casters or something.
