This rust issue could even cause the entire forum to crash for a day or two, bet it will happen tomorrow morning, hopefully it won’t be too bad, but blame the rust. See you in a couple days. :(

Do use Fluid Film or anything like that on your vehicles? I been using fluid flim but it washes off so you have to keep applying. I got some wool wax but haven't tried yet. The fluid film washes off from tire splash but stays in places that doesn't get that. It works if it stays on the metal. I just rebuilt front on my 95, fenders, inner fenders, repair radiator support. Wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Painted it with spray bombs :bounce:

I bought some oil from NH Oil undercoating, but haven’t used it yet. My buddy got me into this oil called Krown, I think it is K37, will have to confirm, it seeps everywhere and it comes in spray cans or liquid form. It is comparable price wise and I think it would do a better job in all the crevices. He uses it and his vehicles seem to be holding up well. Unfortunately there is no silver bullet, got to keep reapplying to protect them.

Spent the last hour with the title forms for another round of vehicles and trailers, still need a few more pieces of info, but I think I am ready for the BMV, although not looking forward to it. :(

I've been getting WoolWax by the gallon from Hamilton Marine. A little less $$$ than FF, and maybe a little less "Wooly" smelling, but otherwise seems about the same. Don't really notice the smell in the garage due to "Ode de Harbor Freight!"

I live on Verona, small world  I was told Wool Wax doesn't wash off as easy but haven't tried it. Going to do my 2019 GMC now its broke in by a couple of winters and the ****** coating GM puts on frame is coming off.

Strouty, you could just move to Florida, rust is hardly a issue here anymore, at least on vehicles:lol_hitti

My goddaughter moved to Fl a couple of months ago. Her Jeep isn't rusting, just popping hoses left and right. I am about to drive down there and replace them all.

Nothing like the smell of wet sheep for weeks…..

Let me help you out with that! I'll take those Listas off your hands and give you my Harbor Freight cabinets so you'll never notice the wet sheep smell when you spray those Burbs!

I would trade my Lista cabinets for a bunch of rust free burbs. ;)

The assessment on the white diesel Burb was much better than I expected, it is very viable to use almost as is, except of course the engine with the piston and connecting rod slapping around the hole. The two wheel drive Burb has now been dubbed goldfender, it needs a bunch of things, but at this point I am only doing the bare minimum to get it safe to try out. I think it will actually be a nice DD and by my own admission, probably won’t get torn apart for at least another year, so I would park it this winter and use it again next year.

The Alaska Burb and the North Dakota Burb are both going to be parts only, seems like the best outcome versus the repairs that need to be done to them.

I completely forgot I owned your dream truck til today. It is parked across the street at a neighbors house blocking in my enclosed trailer. It needs a transmission. After the mine pays off and I have a shop I will swap the freshly buily yrand in Moby over to it.

How fast can you strip a Burb? Or are you going to leave them whole, and just pick the meat off the bone, like a Thanksgiving day turkey?

Depends on how deep I go, but I would imagine it will take a solid day to get one stripped and put away, so three days for me. ;)

The biggest hurdle I have right now is that I have no good system to store the parts yet. I think I should buy another conex and dedicate it to Burb parts, but I may be able to strip the two half tons before that because the plan is to use most of the parts that come off them right away. We will be trying to leave them intact enough so you can still start the engines and move them around, going to try and sell them as a running chassis. I suspect I will be into the month of June before all this transpires, too much going on right now. Once I get the camp dealt with and all the new bank accounts setup, I will feel much better about things.

I agree with getting storage set up first. 90% of my problems are due to changing environment so that I can't get clear sight on organization. Getting things organized first is HUGE.

Hopefully the Lista storage wall will be done this week so I can pick it up next week, that will make a new project, but it will also make things much better up at the Hill. I figure that will take a couple weeks to get setup, will help clean up things at the SG too, lots of things were supposed to be up at the Hill, I just didn’t have the space to put them without drawers and wall space.

The last couple days have been a whirlwind, without being able to post or read the forums
I bought 8 suburbans and 10 trailers.

;)

I did buy a trailer for real, also going to pick up the Lista storage wall tomorrow!

It popped up yesterday on marketplace for $900, I was the first to call, it had been listed for 12 minutes. I left as soon as I could and paid the guy the $900. I picked it up tonight, rolls nice, no hot wheel bearings, it appears to be the same axles as the other long semi tilt trailer. I have to take some more measurements, but I think I may sell the long trailer as is and use this setup as the basis to build my own trailer. OR…. I can use this chassis to make a really rigged dump trailer for scrap steel and debris (not really for gravel or sand), think dumping flatbed. No matter what it was a great buy.

What happened to the tilt deck portion of the trailer?
So going back to a dumping flatbed would be pretty easy since a majority is already set up for that style.
Seems like it was a really good purchase!

The guy I bought it from took it off to use on another trailer, when he told me what he did, I was a bit skeptical that it would work, but whatever, he put the deck on a 20 ton trailer, this one was only a 12.5 ton. In my mind I would think a 20 ton deck would be built differently than a 12.5? Regardless, for the $900 it was a good deal for sure and it is a great start for my next project that I really don’t need right now! ;)

Headed to Lista soon, very excited to pick that stuff up. Of course I am not ready for it yet. :(

I will probably not be able to do much with it until next week, my entire weekend is somewhat planned already, I did not expect it to be done yet.

Looks like you damn near have $900 worth of tires.

Safe travels on the Lista trip, look forward to seeing those.

I think you need to start your own YouTube channel and start making money off of all the stuff you do here! I am curious to see what you do with this trailer.

Strouty's on the slow and measured planning and collecting track. I think I can relate. Un ordinary projects develop around an idea that's heavily based upon what materials you've got.
At least that's the way it works for me.
