X, the dock would have a 16’ by 16’ platform at the end, making essentially a deck. They offer patio furniture and benches that you can mount off the side so they take up minimal space on the dock.

This is the truck, but I am working on letting him keep the cab, he wants it more than I do and I like a price reduction.

That looks familiar, is it in New Hampshire?

If so, I internet-know that guy from another forum. Tons of cool projects and knowledge, and he always ends up with the coolest parts collections.

If you work a deal, the frame and axles would be a great start for your ideal workin' rig.

Yes, he has builds on both Pirate and Irate4x4 forums. I have followed along on a few, I think he will be someone good to know, regardless of what happens with this deal.

Tonight is the big test, my bedroom is mid 80s and I was sweating before I got into bed. I am turning the temp down to 76, hopefully it won’t be too cold.

If we rent directly, we will gain 20% right off the bat, the tenant will still save a bunch of money because we won’t have to charge them “lodging tax” since it is a longer term rental.

The cooling mattress setup passed the test, I slept without any heat issues, still even used a blanket the entire time. I am very happy with it, I like it so much, I am going to buy the company……..

Glad you got a good night's sleep. What does the gf think of the cooler setup?

Changing subjects to one of your favorites. Do you think it's safe to put a knuckle boom on the wife's goose neck trailer. Thinking of putting one on so she can pick up round bales of hemp in the field. How big would it have to be to do that? How much would something like that cost?

Changing subject again, how's the office coming? What's on the to-do list for the immediate future?

X, you would probably have to find a decent sized boom, with outriggers and the truck hooked to it, it may be able to deal with the bales, but I think the cost would get crazy, if I were you, I would look into a tractor that can handle the bales, I think they are over a ton if they are the ones I am thinking about.

Office is very slow going, at least it is now air conditioned and works really well, except no one is in there.

The GF and I actually sleep in different beds (it works for us), I did order her a complete setup last night, she doesn’t know yet, it should all be here next week. I know she has been into the “hot flash zone”, so this should help with that too. ;)

I did the deal with the guy on the rolling chassis, he came up with the same number that I had in my head, so things worked out very well. I won’t be able to pick it up for a couple weeks, but it isn’t like I am going to get to it ASAP anyways.

I had to button up the dock, got it done and cleaned up before noon. I still have to wash a couple chairs, clean out the shed, and then blow some more leaves around. I am thinking I may take a nap, then get back to it, probably not, maybe a five hour energy……251CAC81-998F-4C31-A4C5-B12332BB20AC.jpeg6D9B0D01-88E7-4C4D-B696-4A1DBE0CE12F.jpeg87A74A85-F889-4EC6-ABFE-26192D1D191A.jpeg4EDFEFBC-341F-44D5-BC22-266314F536D0.jpeg56C65244-A65E-46BF-B214-5A312F29E00E.jpegF8FDEF3C-C14B-4318-B40B-943CA9C700B9.jpeg

It is a lot bigger than it looks, those are 53” tall tires, the chassis will be for my Ford F700 crew cab project. I will steal the transfer case from this setup and use it in Perk 2.0.

I hate to be that guy suggesting what you've probably heard many times before - But have either of you been to a Lyme *specialist* and gotten tested for Babesia?

She has the start of 50 plus women troubles

I have always been hot, I can remember when I was in high school and I actually had a water bed, I would sleep on it with no sheets.

Short answer is no on the testing, but this is not a new thing for me and her doctor has discussed things with her. If we showed any other symptoms I might consider it, but at this point unless Lyme disease causes stress and fat to accumulate, I don’t think there is an underlying issue. ;)

Good news on the sleeping 👍
Everyone needs and deserves it, every night! My brother has trouble so does a firefighter friend. I can't see how it doesn't snowball into other problems as you age.
Now that chassis is what dreams are made of. That crew cab deserves it. It's a classic, well at least for a east coast.

That F700 look pretty nice just the way it sets, looks like it has a pretty rugged drive train. What was the engine for that rolling chassis? 6.5?

The previous builder had it setup for an 8.1 vortec engine. I will be using a Ford branded 5.9 Cummins with a 3000 series allison, I am keeping the original transfer case that Marmon Herrington installed when they did the conversion. While the F700 May look cool, it is a big block Ford gas engine 420 something, the transmission is an older allison slush box, and the front end is absolutely terrible, instead of steering on a dime, it turns on a silver dollar. Every turn is like an Austin Powers event. The MRAP axles will turn almost 45 degrees, plus they have air locking differentials. I want to find an older Dually bed and make it look like a pickup truck, probably upgrade the interior a bit too. I may even use the 53” tires, but if they look too goofy, I will be using the 46” tall ones, I know those will look decent.

Also got the second shower unit inside the house, had to remove the front door again, but that was the plan anyways, once the shower was inside we put the full glass door in, I just finished installing the door handle and dead bolt. I figure any of these little things that I can pick away at on the house is at least some forward progress, at this point it is better than nothing for sure. Tomorrow and Friday look much cooler, but rain, so I should be able to get things done on the Lista storage wall, that will be a nice change (both temperature wise and pace).

I almost forgot, all the parts (that we know we need) are in for Goldfender, so tomorrow afternoon I am going to my Buddy’s shop to swap the AC compressor, power steering box, and do a tune up, hopefully that will make the Burb drivable or at least make it so I don’t look like a drunk driving down the road due to the play in the steering box. ;)

the front of the house looks so much better with that door, still probably paint it, might try and match the window trim, or I will paint it blue. Will have to sit on that for a while.

The f700 project looks too cool, hope the progress goes smoothly with the build and your vision for the project is met.
Progress never goes smooth, there are a solid 20 projects in front of it, but it may jump the line, all depends on how this summer goes.

I agree with painting the front door. If you wanted to get really fancy, you'd paint the trim around the door and the window in the door the same as the window trim, and then paint the "face" of the door the same as the siding.

Will these repairs to Goldfender fix all the issues. Sorry for the case of CRS.

The repairs should make it functional, for right now, that is all I want. There are a lot of other things I will need to do to make it usable on a daily basis. It needs all the lock mechanisms replaced, the front seats swapped, passenger side mirror changed, headliner replaced, front bumper brackets and grill need to be fixed or replaced. Other than that, I think it is pretty much good to go.

This one came from Pennsylvania and was used by a power company, I can still remember when we bought it (I was 14), it has always been one of my favorite trucks. I hope to do a nice restomod that does it justice.

Today is much cooler than the last couple days, I actually turned the cooler for the mattress into a heater, boy did it feel nice, set it to 100 degrees. I think it will go up to 115, so it will be awesome in the winter.

I have a few errands to do, then some cleanup to take care of, but the first part of my day is going to be pretty lazy.

It was short lived........

I am at the Hill now, going to try and get the lawn mowed, just bought a garden dump cart to go behind the mower. That should help as there are lots of rocks and sticks all around that I need to get off the lawn anyways. Hopefully I can get it all cleaned up before the rain starts again, looks like it keeps pushing further out, so I should be good to go.

Even worse, I just took a closer look at the car, the idiot that assembled it put the lock washer under the flat washer. I am buying stainless anyways and some fender washers to help keep the plastic from tearing out when it is loaded up. One more thing…..

I should demand my money back, they charged me a penny to assemble it. ;)

I guess so, I think I got more (trouble) than I paid for on this. I got everything back together, but ran out of time, been over at my buddy’s shop working on Goldfender. We pulled the steering box off, but it didn’t appear to have any play, the steering shaft has a “rag” joint at the bottom and it ended up being torn all to hell, so I went back to the Hill and grabbed one off the parts Burb. Should be good now.

Got everything back together, AC compressor had one less switch than the original one had, we found that if it was hot wired AC would work and it appeared it would also turn off. I didn’t realize until later that it would not turn of unless you turned off the blower motor too. :( Didn’t find this out until the drive home in the rain, windshield was close to fogged up, found out I also didn’t have any heat. I made it to the Hill and swapped back to the dreaded F-350. At least Goldfinger drives decent enough now, but I have to figure out the AC switch issue, the lack of heat (need that for defrost), and the headlights need to be changed out very badly.

The good news is the drivability issue all went away, even the torque converter lockup issue is gone. Hopefully with a few more hours of work it will be ready for use as a daily driver.

There was a sensor that needed to be swapped into the new AC compressor, it wasn't obvious that it could be swapped, but it is now.......

As for the heat, it could be a couple things, the blend door has a servo motor, so that could be bad and it could be stuck on cold or the previous owner disconnected the rear heater core lines and bypassed that system, could be that they messed something up. There is also a vacuum operated valve that could be the culprit that is in that cluster fack of a hack to fix most likely a leak. I may end up chasing down the rear heat leak issue as well, I will have to fix it when I swap the body over to the OGMC at a later date anyways, but I had forgotten how much you use the heat when it rains, there is a lot of glass in a burb and it fogs up quickly without a working system.

Looks like there is a bit more rain coming through this morning, but overall more of a cloudy, soggy mess. I have to go back to the Hill to get a water pump, then go to the Salvage Garage to get some part, then to the pipe supply place to buy the rest of the stuff I need.

I hadn’t change an AC compressor before (don’t have the tools) and my buddy hasn’t done one of these in a long time, he is a Ford guy and then big truck, we got everything redone.

Heat was a different story, there is a valve that shuts off flow of hot coolant to the front and rear heater cores. The previous owner had bypassed the rear section, so we were just concerned with the front, we it became very obvious that there was a blockage of sorts, the valve would not move manually, so we pulled it off and found rust and **** in there. The truck has almost no coolant and has been running straight water for a long time, this has caused rust and general nastiness inside the cooling system. If I want to do the right thing, it would be to flush the engine using cascade and a lot of effort, then replace both the heater core and radiator, but for now I am thinking I will just flush things as best I can and call it good. At least we know we have flow of “coolant”, even the heater core was flowing. We bypassed the valve and just ram things like a regular heater core, the heat works fine, the AC works great, only outstanding issue is the rear heat, I am sure that it is plugged up too. I will have to fix that as when I swap the body it will be going with it, so for now I have a functioning vehicle and I will probably just leave it that way. I want to spend time on the white diesel Burb, once that is up and running then I will have a decent diesel daily driver that I can use in the winter too.

I'm kind of cheap, so I'd do your Cascade (never heard this one before) thing, flush twice and run it. Do you think the rear has a leak in it and that's why he shut it off?
