Heat worked, got all the beadlock nuts off. Working on separating the last three tires now, the inner rubber part is also a PITA to get out, at least they aren’t runflats, those are seriously tough to get out.

This inner chunk of rubber is to keep the tires locked on the bead when you are at low air pressure. It is sandwiched in between the two parts of the rim and the tire bead.

I should have been wearing my gloves!

Once I got a rhythm, the inner pieces are not too bad to remove, especially with the help of Baker and a 42" pry bar.

It took quite a bit of heat to actually get them freed up, but it was way better than beating up my impact wrench.

In order to get the top ring off, I would have to pry it up until it released from the tire bead, the wedge helped hold up one side while I went and pried the other side.

No kidding. I worked in a tire shop for about 4 years, many moons ago. Seriously helped me find a different career!

I am having a tough time with two of them, I am going to try one more thing, but if that doesn't work, I am not going to overdo things for today (might have already). It would be nice to have the shop space back, but I can live with the tires if needed. I know I will have to do this again with other tires, probably bigger ones, so this is my updated practice, I took apart a couple a few years back, but not this many......

I worked as a mechanic in diesel shops the first half of my career and tires were a part of that. I learned that it was all heavy work and that is where I did most of the damage to my body. Who knew jumping off of the steering tire with a cummins head in your arms was a bad thing.

My other idea didn't work, luckily these are not good tires, so I will probably end up using the outrigger of the propane F700 to try and break the bead free. I am beat up pretty good, so I think it is time for a trip home.

“On another note, I had the local GM dealership cut a key based on Goldfender’s VIN and it worked for the door locks, I also bought a new ignition key cylinder and I am in process of figuring out what has to be done to rekey it to match (someone replaced the original one). I can buy all the tools and the parts kit for a couple hundred dollars, I think it will be worth the effort and time as I know I will need to deal with this in the future on any one of my other Burb projects”

I may have missed this but why are you removing all of the tires from the wheels? Did you sell only the tires and want to keep the wheels?

The guy wants only the Goodyear tires and the Michelins are junk anyways. Michelin tires dry rot, crack, and bulge on the sidewalls. I didn’t have enough Goodyear tires on rims, so I have to dismount the Michelins to get the rims, the buyer is in charge of having them mounted, so I only have to do half the work.

13 burbs with one key could be a cool idea. :)

I've tried to get a Boot Camp/Cross Fit work out going for my city friends, but strangely, no one bites. I guess I'm not channeling my inner Tom Sawyer well enough. Honestly, who wouldn't want to drag +60' of logging chains a few hundred feet across the yard? Or pick up 8"x8' maple logs and put them in the back of a pick up a bunch of times?

Especially if you tell them they don’t have to pay to do it….

My back is definitely not happy about yesterday, I need to try and take it a bit easier today, we will see how that goes.

My preschool (church preschool) had old tires to play with on the play ground. Playground was just a small grassy area with swings, slide, jungle gym. The rest of the lot was bare dirt, yucca plants and cactus.

Do you know how much effort it is for little kids to lift and roll tires? We could get them going and then send them down the hill! Getting them back up the hill was a chore. Or if they jumped the BARBED wire fence at the end of the playground, we got in trouble for that (janitor had to go down there and retrieve them).

Crazy is, I lived a block from that church now and the surrounding area is very expensive houses.

I didn't get to do anything today, nothing I wanted to anyways, spent the first part of the day dealing with nothing much of anything, then the second part of the day I crammed myself into the office and now it is after 7PM and I want to go home. Next week is going to be a bit unpredictable as well since I have to keep my help busy. Hopefully it won't sidetrack me too much. I will say that I found a piece of paper that I had written to do list on and everything that was written on it got accomplished, that has to be progress, right?

I am going to try and come in really early tomorrow and get things moved around so I can actually start to clean up the shop on the Hill a bit, we are supposed to be getting rain, but a lot of the things I want to get done are inside, fingers crossed......

This is the mess I have to deal with tomorrow, I bought a ton of ratchet straps, some had the handles I wanted, but the wrong style, they were so cheap that I bought extra to swap the handles onto, then I “plan” on selling the remaining ones with the handle I don’t like. I still need more of them, I didn’t count right or something, regardless, they are scattered everywhere. 16B75F7B-5998-4EE2-9DD4-C1219F310CC0.jpegC0F6A1DD-AC1C-4196-8EA6-4171B3952254.jpeg2C69F4CB-5E01-4C73-957D-6BA427B77537.jpeg5F681DC8-976E-46D7-ABA7-ABB3B136EA5C.jpeg387E7973-F38B-44C2-8DC3-53058F951B32.jpeg

I thought I'd lt you know, you've corrupted some of us. I scored these 8 cabinets for $320 in Feb of 2020. I've since installed the doors on the last lower cabinet. These will go with my (2) desks ( 1 powered lift) , (2) file cabinets and (2) 13 drawer 60" high cabinets when I get my new garage built. I've run out of space to store more......for now,

Strouty - Just found this thread, and I just finished page 1. It might take me a while to read the next 304 pages, so can I cut to the chase with a quick question that's probably answered somewhere between pages 2 and 305? How do you score the Lista cabinets? Govt. auctions?

Hopefully your "help" can help with the straps? Maybe get him started and you can do something else?

Welcome to the soap opera….

The Lista cabinets were actually a deal that happened thanks to my Snap On driver, he sold the local Mercedes dealership new work stations and I bought the old Lista cabinets, I then helped him unload all the new stuff and he helped me move all the Lista cabinets, it was not only a great deal, but a lot of fun as well.

Bowtiguy, looks like you got a great deal, Lista makes a really nice cabinet, no matter what style.

S&A, that is the plan, I still need to be somewhat involved, the Helper had done some already and way over tightened things, actually tweaked the handles a bit.

Well, Goldfender just messed up my day, we went to look for something for my Dad, (I guess he is the actual cause), I parked the Burb on a little incline and when I came back, it wouldn’t shift out of park. I pushed while the helper tried to get it out, in the end it took more force than I wanted to. Now at this point it shifts from reverse to drive and that is it, so we were headed to the SG, I figured I would take a look at things and see if I could figure it out. We pulled it into the shop and I adjusted it, thought I made it better, but after I backed out to turn around, it would no longer go into drive. So I had to push it back to the edge of the shop door and we are going to try and get it inside so I can adjust it again.

I am glad we came over here though, the thermostat wires had gotten crossed or shorted and I opened the door to 90 degrees and climbing. The AC and heat had been fighting it out for at least the last 36 hours. The AC did not win. :(

I am pretty sure I must have crossed a wire when I bundled things up or something, no matter what it was not a normal event and when you open the door and a wall of hot air hits you, there is definitely something wrong. ;)

Got Goldfender back so I can use reverse, neutral, and drive, made it to the Hill and worked on clearing off the last of the wooden shelving. Have removed most of the plywood next is the 2x4s. I still have to go and deal with the MIL’s car, but I am waiting until after rush traffic is done. Even with the mess that I call today, I feel like something got accomplished.

as for the straps, I generally keep a dozen or more, at this point I plan on having maybe 25 or so, the rest will be sold. Some of the handles I like went on straps that are more designed specifically for vehicles, straps that have wheel baskets and different setups like that.

Today’s pictures:

Geez - Strouty we need a three ring binder with schematics and diagrams and call outs. I’m having a hard time figuring things out. Is that where the Lista wall goes?

Ron, that is where me side of the Lista wall will be, the other side of that wall will get the other half off it. It will all make sense as I progress, right now there is just too much **** in the way to get things done. :(

Do you plan to putty and paint the walls while you got stuff down? A nice 2 tone with a stripe works great and should only add a day or two.
