To be fair, I sold one trailer, I think the generator is sold, I am sending another trailer to the auction, the C-70 crane is probably going to the auction, and there is a list of about ten other things that are going. In the scheme of things, this shouldn't be too bad.
Unless you sold those items as a result of finding the forklift, it's another justification, and that's a fair assessment.

Not trying to be a jerk, but that's the reality of it.

To be fair to myself, the dreaming has no relationship to the business reality side. I don’t make money with these purchases, I just try and get things that interest me and will help me along the way in the future. If I was using these purchases for business, I would be done for in a matter of months.

I had that part figured out a couple of years ago.
When it comes to work Strouty knows what is going to work and what wont.
When it comes to the SG he's like a kid in a sand box, he plays with his trucks until he is bored and moves to the next. I think it upset some because of the price of his toys.
If you can pay you can play on whatever scale you want.

Pretty accurate, think of me as the dink that has a really big bookcase with lots of books they never intend on reading (they just want people to think they are smart or whatever), except I am “planning” on reading mine, someday, just not this someday. My books are a lot larger and in some cases they are in a language I can’t read, so it takes a lot more effort for me to get them finished, sometimes I give up and buy the Cliff’s Notes instead. I assure you I am a nice guy though, not a dink.

I haven't been working down south but someday I'm going to be down there when I have time to see the wall of Lista and that cool old Ford work truck.

Everyone is welcome for a tour......

My Brother sent me a link to a crane, well sort of, there isn't much left of the truck, going to take a look at it tomorrow. It is a 15 ton National, has hydraulics to 85' and then jibs to 120', looks to be in pretty good shape compared to the C-70, also picks 7000 pounds with the single part line anywhere the main boom section will reach. The C-70 struggles at 4500. I don't like my Brother right now.

Picking up the forklift on Saturday, with the ten foot mast it is going to be just over 13' tall on my trailer, going to look awfully odd since it is the only tall part of the load.

I am looking at the crane tomorrow morning, if I can make a deal with them, I will need a little bit of time before I can go and get it, my weekends are crammed full right now and I don't feel like hauling it back during normal DOT times, it will be an awkward looking load for sure.

I got the trailers shuffled around front, going to setup the crane to pick up the red trailer again, I need to find a jack for the horse trailer, I think I have a 20 ton bottle jack floating around. If not, I think the 12 ton will do it, just not as easily. It is actually still pretty darn warm out, I am sweating up a storm, can't wait for some fall weather to start hitting us.IMG_1105.jpgIMG_1106.jpg

Just curious, kind of price range is the "new" forklift?

Is it four wheel steer? I'm assuming 4wd?

It reminds me a of smaller telahandler/all-terrain forklift, but with the mast instead of the extendable boom.

It is 4x4 and just rear steer, pretty short, so it should do pretty well. I paid $2500, guy had receipts totalling $10k for rearend rebuild, rams, new tires, and other misc stuff. Not a drop of oil under it that I could see and it has been in the same place for three years, his mechanic is super excited to get the space back. It is painted halfway decent, nothing seems beat, I also talked with a friend that said it was a nice forklift before the engine turned inside out. If I had to get my money back, I am sure I can get that or more without too much effort. I have a possible plan for an engine, the front end loader engine has the correct SAE bell housing and it about the proper size, might use the loader engine, then just use a 5.9 cummins in the loader, would be more powerful and it will fit. That would kind of kill two birds with one stone, although to do it properly I need to swap engines in three things.............

Buck (bucket truck) has a 5.9 that needs a refresh, the Boston fire truck has an 8.3 that is supposed to go into Buck, to that gives me all the engines I need and in reality it allows me to work on three of my 2756 projects, err, I mean books.....

I figure this reading is going to take a while, no matter what the 4 cylinder diesel from the loader needs to be fixed. I have wanted to scrap the Boston fire truck for a while, but I know it is going to take a good week for me to get it all torn down and ready for scrap. I have plans for the axles, the engine, the transmission, and a bunch of trinkets from the cab/bed. I also want to try and sell some things in the process, so the week may end up spread out over a longer time frame.

I just swapped out the blinker switch on Perk, I have been plagued (I don't think I knew how to spell that word....) with issues with the right blinker for several months, we thought it was wiring, but I decided to get a new switch, then I lost the new switch before I could install it (I know, I know!), so I ordered a new one, it arrived today and I installed it ASAP. Now things are working like they should and I can't make it mess up like before. Hopefully that is the end of the issue, I really hate intermittent things like that.

So I have to take Perk to the Hill, hook up the 20 ton deck over trailer so it is ready for the forklift pickup, I want to do this tonight, as tomorrow is my GF's B-day and I want to be home at a reasonable time so we can chill out and have dinner together. Saturday is back to the grind, maybe once the forklift is back to the SG we can get the tires swapped over on the trailers, I didn't even touch that yet as my help vanished.

Then I will most likely bring Clark back to the SG on Sunday, that way we can grab things for the auction a bit easier, at least the stuff in the back forty, out front has been ok with just Guido as long as I stay away from the sand traps anyways. Once I have things figured out for the auction and scrap yard, there should be quite a bit more room, at least that is what I am hoping for, I would like to bring things from the Hill over to the SG for the winter, the mess up there is awful once the snow hits. At least at the SG I have flat ground for the most part anyways. I think this winter Perk may be off the road so I can get the transmission swapped and all the hydraulics figured out. Then things will be ready to roll come spring. Lots of moving parts, not including normal work and the new office, then the house on the Hill, plus a hundred other things, basically a normal Fall for me. :(

That fork truck sounds like a needed asset. 4 wheel drive being the key. Most fork trucks are useless on anything but concrete.

Hey Strouty, I'm not to far from you and always looking for "fire truck stuff" I may be interested in buying a few things before she heads off to the scrapper.

I always like help…

looking at the crane now, it was listed as a 2011, but they didn’t have a clue, serial number comes back as a 1990. I offered $1500, won’t know until later today if they want me to take it.

Doesn’t matter, they passed on my offer. I told them it stands, so if they don’t sell it, I would buy it. The price is for everything you see in that picture.

That is a nice trailer, I have been looking for one with the sliding axles, but I want it to only be 30’ long and those are thought to find. 48’ is really too long for what I do, try and turn one of those around up at the Hill……

saw this and thought of you

48ft Landoll, hydraulic semi trailer

That is a nice deck, and looks like it would be really expensive brand new.
