Nothing can be straight forward, nothing.

There is a few inches at the SG already, I got the propane F700 knuckle boom started, then while trying to clean off the passenger side window, it stalled, this means it won’t start again until tomorrow, sometimes you can wait five hours and get lucky, but I don’t have the patience to wait today. I tried to start the C-70 crane, it has a dead battery, my booster pack is in the Blue Burb….. Clark will lift high enough to get the generator out of the back of the truck, but the forks aren’t long enough to hook up to it, Guido has long enough forks, but the mast has issues that won’t allow me to lift high enough, guess I just decided to take an hour trip for nothing, maybe to see the scenery? I am going home.

We are going to have a do-over of yesterday, hopefully it won't be quite as bad.......

Maybe I'm missing something here, but can't your forklift pick it up from the rear of the pickup bed? Drop the tailgate, lift up the close end, pull it back, then fork the entire thing?

I was worried that I would get into an issue since everything was slippery. In order to do that, I would have had to use both forklifts, pull it out with one, hold it, then lift it with the other. Between the snow and my back being sore, I was not interested. So yes, I probably could have gotten it out, but I was being a wimp.

I am going to try and get to it this afternoon, been working at my Buddy’s shop on the Maroon Burb, just drove it out now. Insurance adjuster is supposed to be here soon, after that I may be running Perk.

I didn’t do what I wanted to do, but things were productive, tomorrow should be better.

Maroon burb is working, but it is just a temporary backup, probably through spring, then it will become parts. The transmission is going and I don't want to replace it, right now it is fine if you nurse it along, but I can't hook a trailer to it and if you decide to lead foot it, well, just don't.

Perk is probably going to get torn down and put back together, but right now I can at least use it for the next week or so. We got snow this morning, so I may not drive it until Sunday, as Saturday is supposed to be rain, I guess it depends on how warm it is. I will know more from the insurance company next week. I have acquired some of the harder to find parts on my own and they don't know that, so keep it a secret...

when i do stuff like that in my truck, i almost always come from the side, lift a little and drive truck out. Can you do that?

If I had 6’ forks I could have, but not with four foot forks. Eventually I will have some longer forks, and my extensions were at the Hill, hadn’t planned on using anything but the crane. In theory after today, there will be four cranes at the SG, three will be easy to start and use, one of those three just can’t be stalled….

I actually bought it from him, he wasn’t interested in it anymore and I have always thought it would be perfect for the SG, nice and flat, rather than at the Hill where it is only flat until it isn’t.

I think it is about 23k pounds, it will pick about 10k and walk with it.

I honestly don’t know the specs on it, but it has been in the “family” since I was 16, it has mismatched tracks, but runs pretty well, I need to hook up the fuel lines. I had issues with it a while ago and the tank was loaded with rusty gunk, so I cleaned it and epoxy sealed it. It will get some attention over the next year, but I don’t need to do much of anything for it to be in service.

It is at the SG waiting to be unloaded, it needs to be dry to do it, I guess I could hook the cable to the trailer and kind of lower myself down. If it was dry it wouldn’t be so bad.

Better than the alternative, I hope to have a settlement reached with the insurance company before Christmas, then I can really get things started.

It shifted a bit, overnight is supposed to be almost 60, with the day being close to 40, seems crazy. I was planning on unloading either Sunday or Monday, hopefully things will be dry by then.

I wish I could send the rain your way, we definitely didn't need it, at least it isn't snow, I really don't need a lot of that yet.

I have been ordering parts and supplies this morning, about to head out, still haven't figured out what I am actually doing today, I think cleaning at the SG would be the best option at this point. The rain may let up later today, since I have Clark over there, I can move some stuff further out back for the winter. If I could unload the track crane, that would be fantastic, so I may investigate the winch idea, problem is if something goes south, it goes and you don't have any control at all. I have actually been inside that crane while it tipped over, onto the driver side too, lots of fun!

Apparently I should pay more attention, stairs looked wet, it is raining and has been for a while, but the granite is still colder, luckily I wasn’t carrying anything down the stairs. It was like a slow motion scene, I was worried I was going to hit my head, but in the end, my elbow took the brunt of it. Bet it will feel nice tomorrow.

As for the "Stairs" they have been cobbled and reconfigured over the years, I agree they need work, but structurally they are fine. I weigh over 300 and they do not shift or move at all, they do however stay cold longer than the ground, so when it is raining after it has been below 30 degrees for the night, look out, they are slippery.

I honestly didn't get much of anything done, I worked on some paperwork and a few other things at the Hill, never even made it to the SG. Sunday is going to be a weird day, tonight is supposed climb to 55 degrees, then start to drop off after midnight, it could be freezing by morning, but it looks like the day may be back into the 40s, hopefully things will melt tonight and then dry tomorrow in the sun (it is SUNday after all). If that happens, I will be able to off load the track crane and get some stuff done over at the SG, if it doesn't happen like that, I can use the Mitsu at the Hill in conjunction with the 5 Ton Army dump to get some material moved around. Either way I should be good, assuming I don't make up with my back or arm not wanting to move due to my slip and fall.
