Apparently I screwed up on that statement, they will fit, but at an angle with the tailgate open, or in more than one piece. ;)

I actually thought I read that they would take a sheet, but nope. :(

Walrus, the Blue Burb is a 1996, and the grease gun hose is what I was thinking, we talked about a hydraulic hose, but the grease gun hose is all ready to go.
If you can handle the hit to your manhood a Honda Fit can hold lots of stuff. Has a lot of the functionality of an Element except the 4X4 and they are pennies

I do like my gen 3 series 4Runner. 2002 Sport.

My brother in law has had the gen 4 and then later traded up to the gen 5. The gen 5 reminds me of a tank, but I do like it as well.

Not cheap tho...

2004 last of the 1st gen Tacomas here. SR5. With a cap. The only thing I don’t like is that I can’t lock the diff. That’s a feature of the TRD. It’s been an issue a few times. Otherwise, I’ve used it to drag logs out of the woods for firewood, ram my porch to attach it back to the house, haul a trailer full of logs from Mass up to the mountains of Maine, ram snowbanks to clear a path (no snowplow), and as a winch anchor to fell trees. I’ve replaced the frame (recall), brake rotors, power steering ram (twice), timing belt ( 175K miles), and the rear differential housing (rotted). I basically bought a new truck in parts. But I still love it.

It is either the Element, a Prius, or a 2500 Avalanche. They are all pretty ugly, I am also worried if I was to buy an Avalanche, I would want to modify it and be back at square one again.

I feel like the Element would be buy vehicle, order seat covers, then drive. The Avalanche could turn into a fiasco, I eventually want to build a 3/4 ton one with a drama diesel using a much newer (and nicer looking) body style.

I'd go for the Element. My brother had one for a number of years and we hauled all kinds of furniture and things in there over the years. It was reliable for them and was pretty comfortable for 6' tall people too as the seating position is decently high off the floor.

IIRC, they made an AWD supercharged version in the last model year.

A 2500 avalanche as a daily driver is a terrible idea; the fuel mileage is terrible. If it was a 1500 it would be a great DD if it was in good shape.

As for selling things, maybe, maybe not, I don't want to be too hasty with Benson, the rest of the forklift is in great shape. I have done some more research and it looks like the gasoline version of the engine that was in it has the same block and internals, so I am going to call a couple places that sell the Waukesha engines and see what they have. If I could build the original engine again for under $5k, it would still be a good deal and in the end I would have a very nice forklift. The John Deere engine could be used in the skid winch, then I could sell that for far more than the engine alone or the skid winch with a seized engine.

What year was that Waukesha engine? I'm not too familiar with their stuff but I know the old Oliver/Cockshutt/MM tractors had Waukesha engines for a while, and a lot of guys would replace them with a Perkins that was apparently a pretty close fit. Sorry I don't remember which Perkins it was, but that might be something to investigate.

The trouble I have is the hydraulic pump needs to be interstates into the front cover, there really isn’t enough room to put it elsewhere, the John Deere happens to be too wide because if that particular feature. I have a line in a block for $2000, but I need to see if my crank is OK before I spend that kind of money on it.

Today I got some free pallets.

I think there are 30 or so, I nested them as best I could. My Cousin had a shipment come in at the place he works and they didn’t want to deal with them, so I got them.

Those pallets look nice. Are they standard size, so they'll fit on your pallet racks? Heavy duty resin ones?

I didn't measure them, they were free???

I think they will fit the racking I was going to use outside, they are rugged, there is a metal brace or three embedded in the plastic. For the price, they will be perfect.......

I need a block, one connecting rod, and an oil pan ( maybe crank too) from a VRD220 engine, can be a VRG220 as well, they have the same components gas or diesel.

Whichever dd you decide on, make sure you fit in it and are comfortable. I'm 6'5" and skinny and am not real comfortable in most Japanese imports, which is a shame because I think they make some great appliance dd's.

The primary problem (been this way for years) is that the seats are way too low, my legs and **** get uncomfortable no matter how much adjusting and squirming I do.

Domestic pickups seem to fit me best, higher seats, lots of leg room, lots of head room, lots of shoulder room.

And agreed, no project dd's, get something reliable right off the bat, nothing worse then worrying whether or not your dd is going to start, or get you where you need to go when you're just trying to get through the day, much less some big adventure.

Good luck, and nice score on those pallets.

The Kia Soul is supposed to be pretty roomy for tall drivers too. Shaped like a box I'm sure it can hold a decent amount of stuff for it's footprint.

My son is 6'9" and drives a Civic. I don't know how he does it.

The Blue Burb is almost doing exactly the same thing that it was doing before swapping injectors and injection pump. I am pretty convinced that it has absolutely nothing to do with the oil pressure switch/sender. I am thinking it could be air in the system, but not quite sure why it is only when it is heat soaked, basically once the engine is hot, it takes a good 20 minutes after turning it off for the long crank to occur, otherwise it is close to normal. Tomorrow will be the coldest I have started it, hopefully no issues, but I am still frustrated. I haven't had this much trouble on any of my other 6.5 trucks, but I wasn't the one that did the engine replacement, so who knows if there is something we haven't found yet. We have essentially replaced the entire fuel system at this point. There may be a couple inches of rubber lines and the steel lines that haven't been replaced, but I would expect to see fuel if air is leaking too, I guess it could just be such a tiny leak that the air can get in, but the fuel can't get out.

Clear hose on top of the IP to the return lines. You will see it if its air

That was my next step for sure. There are some awkward fittings that the guy added in, so it could be something as simple as those are causing the leak.

Going to look at another front end loader project, essentially the same loader as my current project, except it has a Cummins 6BT in it and it has two buckets and a set of forks all with a quick attach unit. I am essentially buying it for the quick attach, but it could be another project, all depends on condition. I know we talked about no new projects, but I can’t say no to the quick attach and three attachments. Plus it should be the same transmission, so I can used a 6BT in mine once we see what is needed to adapt the flywheel.
