I put a gear reduction starter on a 4440 JD, fires the tractor right off. It is noticeably faster then the old starter.
Good luck today.why can't you put them in now?Well, this update is even worse, I just got to the SG right now at 2PM, got hijacked by Dad and his truck that still has starting issues. Everyone told him to replace the batteries, nope, well it is the batteries, got him three new ones, but won’t be able to put them in until next week. He doesn’t believe anything anymore, he was second guessing everyone that was involved, when you have a $100k truck and you won’t buy new batteries for $500, something is just wrong.
I am going to try and move some dirt while I still have a bit of daylight.
And to answer your question X, I should have stayed in bed.
It seems the older I get, the more of those I seem to have. I'm not retired, so maybe that will change when I hit that milestone.Well, this update is even worse, I just got to the SG right now at 2PM..........

You left you dad stranded?Because the truck is 30 miles from where I am and I don’t have a long enough wrench.
Don’t give him any ideas! You left you dad stranded?
Wednesday sounds like a washout, decent the rest of the week for December though. I’m tempting fate by not putting plow on tractorI decided to wait to put the Hyster inside, it is dark now and I didn't want to waste anymore daylight. I got a bunch of dirt moved and prepped, I have more gravel coming on Tuesday, so I want to be ready. I am going to shuffle things inside so I can get the Hyster in, that way I can mess with it regardless of when I get a chance, we are going to have some rain again this week, hopefully I can get all my parts lined up for the repairs.
You should do this in the summer months. Then when winter comes, you’re not running around in a bunch of unnecessary directions.I am probably going to move every trailer and piece of equipment to cut down the slope in the side yard, it will be a lot of work, but it will be nice not to have all the extra large puddles in the middle of the yard.
Can't you just run a jumper wire for the starter and make it work by basically hot wiring it?
When I am troubleshooting stuff like that, I take the very basic route and eliminate as much as I can to verify what works and what doesn't.
Power wire from battery to starter solenoid, if it clicks, then you know that works, etc.
Then you could at least get it running and drive it inside for a deeper dive.
I have alligator clips on the ends of wires, makes it super fast and easy.
I think I have a few months of organizing to do between both locations.
